    VT Upper door frame movement

Guys, My dad has a '99 VT Berlina with around 280,000kms. The car has suffered from the normal door rubber squeaking since around 60,000kms, and generally the silicone spray the dealer uses has lasted between services. But not this time....... The problem with both front doors is now...

    Fuel Cap Woes

Hoping somone has an idea................I bought an Aunger locking cap for my SS Thunder ute, as the standard cap is non locking. The cap has performed without question for 3 months.....except for today. The cap when locked freewheels. Great. I have now unlocked the cap, and it...

    Tyre recommendations

Sorry, but all tests indicate retreads are unsafe. Buy a cheap new tyre before buying a retread. Remember it's already possibly travelled 60,000kms.....

    Tyre recommendations

Treadwear figures on imported tyres will also give you an indication of the anticipated life. Tyres sellers a re a little coy in mentioning this, but in the US, most tyre companies have this information readily available. So yes, compound makes a difference, but some tyres just have a much...

    Tyre recommendations

If you notice what setup the Vic police use with their commodores, you will soon realise that 205/65 15 is a budget saving size. The police go for 215/60 15. I had a new VS ute back in the later 90's, and the transformation when changing profile slightly was massive. This was on the back of...

    Thunder is lowered

Guys I have the Impulse Blue which I really like. My VYII S was quicksilver so I needed a change. What colour leather? As for fuel consumption, I notice a definite improvement with 98, and the overall consumption is improving all the time. With a bit of around town, highway, and backroad...

    Thunder is lowered

Pete, Glad you are happy with yours. Mine's a couple of months old now. Rapt in it. Not sure about lowering it though. I know it sits a tad too high, but I do like the ride/handling combination that it has. Is yours rough? What about a cheap mod for up back to make her sound more like...

    L76 Power & Torque - 98 PULP

My car was delivered with 91, as the dealer only has the one bowser. The most noticible difference is the sound under load, with 98 it is a tad growlier. It's prob the case with large capacity and torquier motors that in general driving the difference is not particulalry detectible. Fuel...

New SS Thunder now in driveway

Nope, appears that some dealers will oblige and others wont. Another cost saver like the missing glove compartment light.

No Glovebox light in 2006 VZ

Thanks for that piece on world labour costs John Howard. If my memory serves me, Holden have been running this basic shape since 1997? You would therefore assume that most of the capital costs have been fully, or near fully depreciated? They will still be making a bucket load on their...

No Glovebox light in 2006 VZ

No glovebox light Nope, no glovebox light in my SS Thunder either, and no alloy foot rest either, just the black plastic one. Any idea on a rear exhaust mod to improve the exhaust note? Not interested in extra HP, just a better rumble.

Badges on the new SS Thunder Ute!!

As a fellow thunder owner.my advice? Leave it as it is. You will get better resale as a Thunder, and the badges are the only tell tale signs that it is a Thunder, so why devalue the vehicle?

New SS Thunder now in driveway

Daza, I understand on the SS an 18 inch alloy spare is supplied, making five of the same wheel being supplied. I do understand that the Thunder S ute, with the same wheels gets the dodgy 15inch spare. My VYII S only came with four alloys too. Does this help? haven't taken a peek...

New SS Thunder now in driveway

Other than driving to the office, to Melbourne for work twice a month, and the occaisional load of stuff to the tip...................none.

Yeap, Slugg, a copy of the e-mail would be handy, and thanks for the great pick-up too. Thanks Burty [email protected]

    SOLOW HCV (Holden Cruising Vehicle)

I wouldn't get too worried about it being too low............you then have the added worry of chewing out the front spoiler/apron, and a nasty rough ride. Drop her a tad more that FE2, and you should be right. Those wheels look good too. Are they HSV / HBD rims? I'd keep them.

New SS Thunder now in driveway

Hi fellow GM people. Picked my new work wheels up this morning. First impressions? Well heck it's a ute after all, but it's quiet, smooth, seats are extremely comfortable, and although it has those raised bits on the hard cover, visibility is extremely good. I also had it delivered with a tow...

My new ride - collect Friday

Just sold my VYII S/C "S". A fantastic motor, the supercharged donk. You should enjoy it. Appaprently they benefit from the K&N re-usable air filter element. I never did get around to trying it for myself though.

    VZ Fuel Gauge Problem

Exact same problem.... I've now run out four times with brtween 40 -60kms showing on the DTE, but much red on the guage. 2nd last time, brought Melbourne to a halt as it was on the Monash in peak hour under the Wellington Road overpasss..... Had it back to the dealer, supposedly fixed...

    Issues with VY'S

VYII woes A great car, have had mine since August 2003. It was the first VYII my dealer received. Problems so far....... sterring wheel audio controls misbehaving ran out of fuel four times , with faulty guage, sender, computer drivers door window seals poorly positioned audio...

    premium unleaded

Spot on This bloke is spot on, you are wasting your money on higher RON fuels if the motor is tuned/mapped for regular unleaded, as the motor will not utilise any differing characteristics in the fuels. You are better off using the manufacturers recommended fuel type. Any perceived...

    Opinions wanted on an SV6

SV6 a great leap............although........ Certainly the SV6 was a great leap from the VYII "S" with the based ecotec 3.8. Much better power delivery and increased torque across the range. To me it is a much better drive, and I have cause to drive many cars in my role. However, I don't...

    SV8 Waste of Time

Holden do - it's called the SV6. Get some HBD extras and there you have it.

    SV8 Waste of Time

Woggy?? Not a nice term Is the term "Woggy" really neccessary?? SV8 is great value. SV8 came about beacuse it was roughly the same dollars as an Exec with wheels, FE2, spoiler V8 etc. It has it's place, but fair to say it has nil marketing dollars spent on it. Even better value now...
