some things you just shouldn't skimp on......crank angle sensor being one of them, buy a new one and you wont have to replace it ever again

my guess is its the crank angle sensor, less than $50 delivered on ebay.

use a test light to see if power is getting to the fan behind glove box, my blower fuse kept blowing which turned out to be the wiring loom that runs along side stereo has split and a wire was earthing out to stereo.

I heard shell fuel is crap, read on the vl turbo forums they run **** with shell fuel which indicates low octane, not buying bp fuel on principal on ****ing up the ocean, so caltex is my pick, get the shop a dockets and say few bucks filling gas and petrol same time, stay away from ethonol fuel...

cut the base off a milk carton or coke bottle and stick into radiator filler so filling water level is higher than thermostat housing open valve, add water till all air flows out of valve and nothing but coolantor water comes out.

if you can get a non air con drive belt and see if that works, if it does its your air con pulley bearing making the noise, if it doesn't you have a spare non air con drive belt :-P

havent used fan, only blownig air whilst driving and its been fine, could replacing the relay have solved the problem? find out in due course, will start using fan over weekend and ee when and if the fuse blows again.

ok, I thougt the whole dash has to come out, to replace the blower motor, I just drove to geelong in 9 degrees outside, no heater and had to have the window down so the windscreen doesn't fog up, I gotta repir this problem asap, my feet are still slightly numb with a tingle of where warmth is...

thats a handy idea, save me blowing fuse after fuse after fuse, I hope its not the blower motor, thats a bigger job that i would prefer to avoid as apposed to climate switch, my luck it will be the blower motor and the biggest job it could be

ok no good, I disconnected the wire running to the ac and even pulled out the relay under the bonnet fuse panel and still the fuse blows the instant I turn the key to accessories, I'm thinking it can only be the climate control switch, any more ideas before I spend money on another climate switch?

otherwise known as number 9 heater ac auto a/c cmpr 25a/10a fuse was working fine then climate control wouldn't turn on at all, found it was a blown fuse, fixed it, worked fine for a day, then blew again, now when I replace fuse, turn ignition on it blows instantly...any ideas, maybe faulty...

my thoughts are the air con pulley has old bearings which create too much resistance and is causing the problem

I can hear the relay under the dash clicking which indicates to me that there is power triggered by the switch, I will change this first then and see what happens

I changed my spark plugs from 6es to 7es for gas, fixed the problem for me, give it a go, has backfired 2 times since due to backing off then accelarating, dont know how to solve that one

Ok....definatly not a relay....I pulled the thingy out from under the plastic under the windscreen wipers and will be replacing it tommorow with part number 2sd1297.....I read through lots of posts today and this could be the source of the problem....where exactly is the fan speed controller...

I pulled out the relay under bonnet and swapped some around to check if it was faulty, made no difference, I will try the ones under the dash and if I cant find a faulty relay I'll try the fan speed controller, thanks guys, I'm always one to pull **** apart to see how it works and try to repair...

hi all, just bought a vr statesman with the heater fan that wont turn off, even when the key is removed from ignition the fan still stays on high, the funny type fuse under bonnet has been removed to stop it.....now Im thinking maybe the climate control switch is buggered but that shouldn't keep...

ok, turned out to be the boot light switch....doh! possibly found another problem last night, noticed even when the keys were removed from ignition the elec window switch lights stayed on and didnt turn off, get out, lock the car, still on, only turned off when i used the lock button on key...

yeah you can screw them back in, the holes are in the roof supports, not the roof lining itself, your gonna roast in the heat though and freeze in the cold, only takes a couple hours to do, plan it for a sunday, get all the needed materials and use the tips I posted for the easiest and hassle...
