Only problem you'll find with the 595's is that they're a soft compound and will wear quickly. Good in the wet, great in the dry, but the buggers just don't last. Not bad if you're expecting to burn through a set quickly anyway, but if you're after a tyre to go the long haul and perform well...
A worn out compressor shouldn't pump out more heat than a new one. In fact if the compressor is on the way out, the pressure (and hence the temperature) on the high side of the system (the condenser in front of the radiator) should be lower than for a brand new compressor.
Two thoughts...
I remember reading somewhere that the air conditioning condensor changed design on the VP's as the VN design placed a lot of heat load on the radiator. The VP condensor was supposed to be better, dunno how much better though, might be worth a try if you know a fridgie who has some spare time...
I know, replying to an old post, but I think it's worth saying. Like the dude said, the knock sensor just screws into the block in place of one of the two coolant drain plugs on each side of the block. Only problem is that those plugs can be a pain in the hole to remove after twenty years of...
Still for sale and yes it does have a towball. Currently out of rego, (can look into doing something about that if necessary) sitting in my front yard causing a space problem, you want it, make an offer. If you want some pics, just send me an email and I'll get some on the way.

And howabout you don't post if you have no intention of being useful or even amusing? :D
I'm guessing he means a lifter, it's cylindrical in shape. As for a good mechanic, meh, if a lifter is sodded you're in for a fair few bucks in labour to get them replaced no matter where you take it...
While all the evidence i've seen suggests that the V6 diff is plenty tough, I think you're understimating the advantages of the shotpeened gears. Shotpeening is not just firing one small metal ball at the part, it's more like beadblasting with ball bearings, the idea being that the entire...
It's an internal high pressure pump, according to my gregory's manual, V8 utes from 91 onwards had only an internal high pressure pump. If you were going to use the internal pump to feed a fuel cell and then use an aftermarket high pressure pump out of that, you'd probably be best served getting...
Can be done, few issues though. Because the port order is different between the carby and efi V8's, you have to use the VN onwards heads and cam before an efi manifold will fit. You also have the issue of most (if not all? Can't remember) 253's being trimatic pattern, so you need to modify the...
I got some movie tickets, (just as I've got some time off! WOOHOO!) the olds present for me is down at their place at the coast, my girlfriend and I are exchanging gifts tomorrow and the neighbourhood secret santa pressies aren't being handed round until this arvo. This is gonna be one...
Yeah. DRIVE CAREFULLY WHEN TIRED. Red lights aren't rocket science, it's a fairly basic concept that most people have no trouble grasping even when tired. Red stop, yellow stop if ya can, green go. Anyone who can't handle that shouldn't be on the road. If you're so tired that you can't deal...
DFI is ignition module. There are various troubleshooting methods you could apply if you really felt like it, but if you believe selling it is your best option then meh, your choice.
According to a couple of articles I've read, manual is still standard for both falcon and commodore if memory serves. The reason the market is flooded with autos is because most dealer vehicles come "pre-optioned" with the bastard things. Everyone loves the auto's ya know. Friggin piles of...
This is exactly what I'm talking about, spools are good for TRACK USE. Freaks who use the roads like a track are a menace to every normal road user out there. Had one overtake me this morning (illegally as well I might also mention) only for him to come a cropper not 1km later as he put too...
Second explanation, your transport authorities are incompetent. And as for ****ing up, happens to everyone sooner or later.
Believe what you like, I'm not the one with an unroadworthy vehicle and a bad attitude. :)
28 spline. Honestly mate, you should've used the search button. This type of thread always ends up full of do goooders going nuts about how illegal and unsafe the damned things are. Personally I wouldn't want one in the wet, and any competent mechanic SHOULD knock you back for roadworthy with it.
Amen to that. Same story as any other heavily modded car, do the illegal bits after it passes engineers on a stockish motor. ;) Then pray it doesn't get defected.
Only holden V8's with a roller cam were the VS series 3 and VT. The 215i strokers ran a different cam to the 165 and 185kw 5L's, but it was still a flat tappet hydraulic. It's equivalent to a Crane H268 or a Crow4001. The 200kw HSV 5L ran this cam as well. Check out cranecams.com.au for...
You're a tyrefitter? If so that explains the cbf thing completely. :p Seriously, if you get the opportunity again, head up. The noise alone would be amazing, even if you can't see much from where you'd be working.
He did have a reputation as a good player and role model before the media aired the original allegations of bad behaviour. There's no doubt in my mind that what happened could constitute defamation. (my previous post was a bit innacurate) Only question is whether there's a defence for the...
I can't remember if it's applicable in all states, but there is a defence against defamation if it is true and/or in the public interest. Cousins has not been defamed in my opinion by that definition.
I've been thinking about getting a 3" system for a while. The full twin system is obviously going to be better, the question is whether it's going to represent good value.
Bingo, marvels of modern technology. Some people just seem to enjoy conflict though. I've been through something similar as I mentioned in an earlier post, the solution was to stop talking to the bugger I didn't get along with.
So you got into an argument with some bloke over a woman, it got a bit heated and you're chucking it on the internet and talking about going to the cops? Sounds like a waste of time for all involved.
Question I'd be asking is why they're so ****ed at you? Only time I've ever copped anything like that is when some bloke thought I was making eyes at his missus. Oh and I was insulting his religion, oh and I may have also called him fat. Anyway, point is I did several somethings to really...
Yeah, glass packed mufflers do give a nice noise, but they're a bit expensive for the garden variety V6 aren't they? I suppose it's all about how desperate to be different you are.
Actually, if you use the holden ratio set T56 and chuck 4.11 gears in the arse, you'll get some decent gains and still have almost exactly the same final drive ratio as an auto with 3.08's. Plus the enormous amounts of fun. Still not worth ten grand though. :p
