VY LPG Wagon Conversion Advice Please

blownba, I have some pics of the 'conventional' mixer factory set-up on a VY II sedan pics if you would like me to post them. Me personally we had our 03/2005 SV6 converted to injected LPG using a SprintGas OMVL kit and it ran a dream, only complaint I have is when they put the...

    VZ alternative servicing options

andyman, Our MY06 VZ Adventra SX6 wagon is going into Holden this arvo for it's 17,500kms service, further investigation of the clattering noise on start-up and a couple of minor defects. They want the car tonight so they can do a cold start up on the engine to see if they can hear that...

    Alloytec engine clattering on start-up

Holden had mine for 3 days and came back and said it was 'normal'....!!!! Noticed it when we first got it and the oil had just been changed. Mine does it everytime it's started on a cold engine and is quite loud sounds like a machine gun. I was initally told it was a probelm with the...

    VZ 170 performance

Take the plastic radiator covering off, undo the clips with a flathead screwdriver and remove the air-box snorkel. Free modification and it'll breathe slightly better. Every VZ appears to be different guess it depends on it's previous life although some I've driven have been pigs.

    Adventra rim failure!!

Hi Gang, Noticed the past few weeks that our newish Adventra has been losing air pressure in the front drivers side tyre. Had previously had a quick look but couldn't see any foreign objects in the tyre. Finally got around to taking it in today to a Tyrepower to get the 'suspect' puncture...

    Running wires through firewall

Had a good look yesterday at mine and found that the clutch cable grommet had a hole it it obviously where wires had been run thru when it was in it's former life. Went to Holden and purchased a 'clutch cable grommet' at $2.80 and it's is 100 times better now, had to remove the drivers side...

    Running wires through firewall

Just an Exec Y2K, has 914 on the compliance plate. Mine drives nicely, now done a tad under 61k, so I had the diff and transmission oil/filter replaced this morning as a precaution. Was an ex Inquiry car. Would love to know where to silicion these holes up.

    Running wires through firewall

Pics would be awesome Y2k, Just purchased a bunky car today which is a 2006 phantom VZ poverty police pack. It has a slight 'air-rushing' sould which can be heard and gets louder when the revs get higher. I'm thinking i'd like to check and replace this grommet to reduce engine noise...

    Alloytec engine clattering on start-up

I know their was a thread on here before about a member who was experiencing that engine clattering noice on cold engine starts and he was going thru the process with a Holden dealership. Just want to know what the outcome of this was as mine Adventura does it when it's stone cold. Only does...

    Dipstick moved?

Tar Y2K, Yeah it's a nice car, few little annoying defects I need to get rectifed under warranty....Has that bloody annoying alloytec engien clattering noise on cold starting.. Sadly being MY06 it doesn't have the illuminated mulit-function steering wheels controls at night and no globebox...

    Dipstick moved?

Sold the SV6 to a mate last week and picked up my ex Holden MY06 VZ SX6 Adventura in phantom black. Was looking under the bonnet and I notice on the Adventura that the oil dipstick is on the passenger side...On the SV6 which is suppose to be the same alloytec190 motor the dipstick on the...

    New Tyres on SV6

I have just changed my RE030's at 45,500kms, they still had a bit of tread left on except they a couple of them were worn down on the inside edges where I neglected to get a wheel alignment. I put Toyo Teo's on at first and they were ****-house, really bad tread squirm, my worn Bridgestone's...

15000km service interval means full syn oil only

Yeah but if you love your car....would you really leave your servicing intervals every 15,000kms? I can understand fleet and govt. cars getting their oil dumped every 15,000kms, but if you plan on keeping your car for a few years then I can't see the logic on trying to save a few $$$ on oil...

    VE Tyres Bald

It also depends on 'how worn' you replace your tyres at. If you care about your wheels I think it's a bit silly replacing them when they are totally shod. My wife also drives my car and so I tend to replace them when others may run them down a little further. I've just ordered 2 x (235/45 17)...

    Is this too much?

Troy, I think satos is referring to the extensions they 'throw in' after the standard 3yr/100,000km warranty expires. When I bought my SV6 they threw in it on the condition that they service it every 5,000km! It didn't even match the service intervals schedule in the service...

    Is this too much?

    Diff oil

As I have already mentioned in another thread..took my 2005 VZ SV6 in for it's 45,000km service yesterday and when I picked it up the guy said to me it needs the diff oil replaced? I thought to myself ..WTF!! It's only done 45703kms.. How often should diff oil be dumped and replaced...

    Is this too much?

Hi Folks, Just after some opinions here. I took my 2005 VZ SV6 in yesterday for it's 45,000km service. Here's a breakdown on what they did and costed me: Workshop labour 180.00 1 x Holden fuel filter 29.59 1 x Holden Cart oil filter 15.00 1 x Mobil 1 oil (5w/50) 60.00 1 x...

    Buying a SV6

Come over to WA, I've seen ex WA Police SV6's go at the Auction for $22,700 with about 55-65000km on the clock. Not much really worth looking for as if you buy an 05 model it'll still be under warranty for a while yet, so any faults will (hopefully) get fixed at Holden's expense. Try and...

SV6 Impulse Blue with paint problems?

My VZ SV6 had rust spots coming up in the boot on both side near the rubber. They had it for a full week Mon thru to Friday and in all honesty they did a good job, completely resprayed the affected area. This particular did it on-site as they have their own panel and paint.

VZ taxis in the Eastern States?

Wow thanks for the reponses so far fellas. We have a handful of VT/VX/VY's taxis over in WA. There is also a cosmo green VY I SS taxi with a green light-bar getting around in Perth which I also see from time to time. A few Camry things also seen from time to time. We have 'Peak...

VZ taxis in the Eastern States?

Hi Folks, Bit of a random question.. Are there many VZ taxis in the other capital cities of Australia such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide? I've only ever seen 1 VZ taxi here in Perth and that was a factory LPG wagon. I'm suprised Holden haven't spent the $$$ on...

    SV6 on Injected Gas now

My owners manual only states that "engine is not designed to run on LPG and performance and safety will be jeopardized".. Pretty ambiguous statement about the safety considering how many tests have been undertaken to prove that LPG is equal too if not safer than petrol. My book is dated...

    Stock Blaupunkt Head Unit

    SV6 on Injected Gas now

SS, From looking into LPG conversions myself for my alloytec190 I'm led to believe the 'possible' problems are the cylinder heads and valves failing due to the increases combustion temps of LPG. The way around it is to get a upper lube kit/flash kit installed when you have the conversion...

    SV6 on Injected Gas now

Well done redsv6. I've been doing a heap of research and I'll probably get my SV6 done also with the Prins set-up. I'm not an expert but torque increases as a result of the higher octane % in LPG. With the old LPG conversion YES, you did lose power but these new Injected gas systems...

    SV6 and Towing a Car

I enquired today about trans coolers at my local Holden spare counter. Was told no such thing as a transmission oil cooler since the VT!! Also checked with a tow-bar place when getting a price for a 2100kg tow-bar and was told exactly the same thing.

    Mobil 1 - 10w30 - Fully Synthetic

Hey impulse, I run Mobil 1 15w/50 fully synthetic in my SV6. A Holden dealership advised me to run fully synth. so that's what I use, mind you this was the same dealership that told me they don't replace oil filters on intermediate services.. I get mine changed every 7500kms and on the...

    SV6 and Towing a Car

Sadly, my SV6 only has the factory 1200kg tow-bar. Is it true that if you have a 1600kg or a 2300kg set-up fitted you need a trans oil cooler? I'm very tempted to swap mine over, as all the associated electrics are already in-place (the wiring in the spare wheel well) and I can't imagine...

    Illegal Spare wheel??

Thanks for your comments Blue-VZSSSV8, I last week bought a new SV6 rim for $243.51 from Holden and I have since found a good source of 50% remaining tread Bridgestone Potenzas which sost me $50 so i'm happy with that for now. I bought the alloy wheel retaining bolt for the spare and that was...

    Rust!!!!!!!!!!

This morning I found some rust in the boot sills of my SV6 this morning near the rubbers. About the size of a 5 cent piece. Bubbling up. Took it into a Holden dealer this morning and they booked it in for next Thursday with a courtesy car included. Had to have a laugh the old fella...

    Fuel Guage

In theory YES it should be accurate. Just try filling it up to the max and then see how many litres it displays in the diagnostic setting. It gives you some pretty interesting info such as battery voltage, instant fuel read-outs, coolant temps....It's well worth a look just a pity the...

    Illegal Spare wheel??

Been reading a few threads around this forum. In the 'Ask the copper' section some dude reckons he got a yellow sticker (defect notice) for having a non-matching smaller spare tyre fitted due to earlier getting a puncture. In WA and (QLD I think) it's against the law to use odd size...

    Fuel Guage

Yep me too exact same thing! I just pulled 557km off a tank of normal unleaded with city driving!! 48kms more than when I filled it with premium unleaded the previous tank.. Try setting the car into 'diagnostic mode' on start-up and it will tell you how many litres are left in the tank.
