    Thanks for that Hako.

    Ecotec push rods

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if both ends of the push rods for an ecotec should be nice and round (like 2/3 of a ball) or one end should be slightly conical (the end that goes into the rocker) when looking side on? All my push rods look like this, not just one or two. Thanks.

    Ecotec Heads S1 or S2

Hi guys, my apologies if the has been asked before. I did a search but could not find anything. This is for Ecotec only (VS). How do i identify between series 1 heads and series 2 heads. I have heard series 1 heads have spring recession problems and i have a spare set of heads, maybe from...

    V6 Peformance Parts

Yeah, thats what i was thinking. The plennum would look pretty cool sitting 50mm above the intake. Any chance of you guys sandwiching 2 x 25mm insulators together on an ecotec and running it on a dyno?

Thanks Tsunamix, thats the answer i was looking for.

    V6 Peformance Parts

With your plennum insulators, you have quoted 10% increase in power for the 12mm one and 13% for the 25mm one. 25mm is 2 times (approx) thicker than the 12mm one but with only 3% increase in power (over a broader range). I don't know much about runner lenghts but would i be right in thinking...

    V6 Peformance Parts

HI Steve, Just wondering (i think i noticed correctly) why the heat insulators between the plennum and manifold are made from bakelite and not a thermal resistive plastic? Or would it get too hot for the plastic? Bakelite just seems too old school ;o).

    V6 Peformance Parts

HI there, I did a quick search but couldn't find an answer to this question. i'm running LPG Gas research carb set-up (yeah, yeah, BBQ etc) on an ecotec, pacey extractors + 2.5 exhaust and cold air intake. Just noticed on this forum that Mace produce a 12mm plennum insulator and a 25mm...

    Exhaust Crackle

Well it looks like i have offended some V8 drivers LOL, sorry about that. I did have a V8 once and i do miss it. Anyway that was my 2 cents.

    Exhaust Crackle

Last month i got a full exhaust job done, biggest Pacey's you can fit on an Ecotec, 2.5 inch collectors, high flow cat, single mufler. It has a nice idle note and does crackle (a deep sounding crackle) when the throtle is released in 4th, 3rd, 2nd or 1st. But it is a bit loud just cruising...

    recurring 2/3 shift solenoid fault

Just reading this post, i have had a similar problem. Didn't know VS had a limp home mode, is this correct? My initial problem was very different to yours Shinagami2227 but the end result the same, only 1st and 3rd. Haven't had this happen again but i'm preparing myself for the big money...

    Ecotech advice/info

Thanks guys, i picked up an ecotec for $100.00. Should be able to find out if its a series 1 or 2 by the engine number right? Michelson4301 i take it that you have replaced a coolant plate before? So if i buy a new on from Holden will i have to buy a series 1 or would a series 2 plate fit...

    trickshift shift kit

Yeah, had a Stage 2 done by them about 1 year ago. They are very good and know what they are doing. They do a progressive shift kit, this means it wont thump into gear every time it shifts. Light throtle you might not notice it's there, Medium throtle you will notice something is there and full...

4.11 Diff in VR Manual with Auto loom?

HI Unknown, the kit is called Speedo Corrector Kit. I just built one but haven't installed it yet, mine is the mark2. Don't know the difference between mark1 and 2 but the model number is KC-5435. There was a typo in the catalog i had and their recomended case was way to small. The case i'm...

    speedo corrector in vs

Actually Immortality i haven't fitted the diff yet, was going to setup the speedo corrector first and make sure it's all reading right then fit the diff and just re-adjust to suit. I was going to see what difference there would be in shift points before getting them changed but i was thinking...

    speedo corrector in vs

Thanks Shagggerz, i should have mentioned the reason for the speedo corrector is i'm changing diff ratio. I'm guessing the shift points wont be where they used to be so i was thinking if i can adjust the signal before the ECU that would bring the shift points back to something normal. But this...

    speedo corrector in vs

Hi guys, I was wondering if i should change the signal before it enters the ECU or after as it goes to the speedo. Kind of worried about shift points and also if the cruize control will be affected. Any info will be much appreciated.

    Sorry, another extractor question.

Thanks N A A F, i thought the stainless would sound tinnier ( i think the wall thickness of the piping is thinner) so probably go the Pacey's.
  20. C

    Sorry, another extractor question.

Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has had Genie extractors fitted to there Ecotec. I can get Stainless Steal Genies for the same price as Pacemakers (around $450.00). What would be best for performance and sound? Is Stainless better overall? Thanks guys.

    4.2 ltr stoker

Hi 68cha, I have been doing some research into 4.2 Strokers. C.O.M.E racing do kits, i think the stroker kit it self is 2.3k and the complete bottom half is 4.5k. You will have to clearance grind around the crank area though. If you know of another place that do 4.2 Stroker's please let me...

    diff gears 3.45 auto vs

Thanks Sircruisealot, i thought you can buy a gear that you can fit to the speed sensor on your Transmission or is that for older cars? Also an iteresting point someone made regarding the lock up on your torque converter locking up (working) at 70klms instead of 80klms (nominal). Does the...

    diff gears 3.45 auto vs

Hi guys, i have a VS V6 auto with IRS. I was thinking of getting 3.55-1 gears. Immortality you mentioned a corrector kit for the speedo and odo. Would this be fitted with the diff or is it and after market thing? Has anyone had work done around Melbourne? I was hoping for a drive in drive out...

not a good idea fitting LPG to VS..V6

Ha! Thanks JB Drifter. I actually got my conversion done by them 1.5 years ago and recently have been thinking of vapour injection. I think the guy i delt with is Brian. Good to know.

What to do. Cam or Rockers????

I got a progressive stage 2 shift kit. This means with light throtle you don't know it's there (unless your looking for it), medium throtle you know something is there and heavy throtle it launches into 2nd. So it's quite controlable. Re: Cam vs Rockers. Interesting because i'm thinking of...

HaHa now this is funny and stupid.

I've got a stage 2 shift kit in my VS and it's on gas. In Drive it will change from 1st into 2nd at about 75 @ 5250rpm and into 3rd at about 120 again @ 5250rpm. Haven't seen what it will do in third. Just my 2 cents :yeah:

    Stage 2 shift kit

Hey VS Mick, The shift kit cost me $440.00 drive in drive out. They really do a good job. Check the valve body and clean it out. Not just a bolt on job. And they guy (Scott) is easy to talk to, go and talk to him. Trick Shift in Campbellfield.

    VS V6 Heads

Fair enough, thanks guys for the info. I think i might wait until ( if ) the motor starts to ware out and build a motor up from a block and do a lot more research. ;o)

    VS V6 Heads

Ok, no internals changed so stock. Am running LPG so thought higher compression would be good. Thought that better heads = more power and/or better economy. Would do an exhaust as well.

    VS V6 Heads

Hey Guys, anyone done up VS V6 heads? I think the ecotech runs about 9.2 - 1 comp. Is it posible to get about 10.2 - 1 just by shaving the heads? Also any real benifits from getting a set of performance heads done? Any good head people out there? Thanks.

    Stage 2 shift kit

Well Guys, got the Stage 2 shift kit done by Trick Shift in Camplefield and very happy with the job. Doesn't slam into gear, fairly light but firm at light throtle, frimer as the more throtle is applied. Kicks down quicker so it's more responsive too. Like to thank all for the general info.

    VS Exhaust

Sorry for my ignorance :o but when you say "cat back" does that mean from the cat back or including the cat as well. And would it be best to loose the resonator. I've heard that a different size can give you a burble.
  36. C

    VS Exhaust

Hey guys, can you get a burble out of a standard VS Exhaust or do you need extractors? If i put the foot down at 60 and it kicks back to 2nd you can hear that there is potential for a note.

    Stage 2 shift kit

Thanks S/C Calais. I've just booked in to Trick Shift on Friday. I know i can change companies if i want but i went there and talked to the guy, he seemed genuine and really went into detail with what they do. It's not just a kit they do, it's a custom job and i can always go back and get it...

    Very high idle

I cleaned my MAF and IAC once and started the car without the loom pluged into the IAC (forgot :o( ), the engine idled at about 2000 rpm. Pluged it back in and it idled normally. So maybe check the continuity between the computer and the IAC plug / loom, maybe a faulty wire in the loom.

    Stage 2 shift kit

Thanks Furious_8, The place i was quoted is Trick Shift in Campbellfield VIC. The peorson i spoke to said they do a custom job for $440 DIDO and they have machinery to produce better quality products that would normally come with a kit that you can get for around $220-300. Plus they check over...

    Stage 2 shift kit

Ok guys, I've done some ringing around for a stage 2 shift kit. Cost between $300 and $440. Some companies (not perfomance) said not a good idea because it will damage the transmission but other companies( performance places) said no probs. So who do i believe? I have a stock as a rock VS V6...
