Any interest in a free VZ (Sydney North)?

You might be right ... I think there were some radio ads about it not too long ago. Not sure if my car qualifies though. I'll check it out, and if no interest from here, then that could be the next step !! Thanks for the reminder ! EDIT: found one of the programs and have messaged them to...

Any interest in a free VZ (Sydney North)?

Hi Guys, My VZ died a year or two ago, and has been sitting on my driveway taking up space. I have been meaning to get it taken away by a wrecker ... supposedly can get a few hundred $$$ for it. I think the engine had the oil sludge problem with the oil not being changed frequently enough. I...

    VZ Calais overheating on acceleration!

oh, just great ... this will be the last holden I will probably ever have ... I know all manufacturers have their problems, but this engine design just sucks

    VZ Calais overheating on acceleration!

Radiator cap was recently replaced... I just went out and checked it as my wife needs to go out tonight. I took off the radiator cap, and there was no liquid visible. I filled it up. I then started the engine, and got a few bubbles come out, but nothing significant. I undid the bleed screw...

    VZ Calais overheating on acceleration!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have what I think is a similar issue, and wondering if you got it resolved. We are having the engine temp warning alarm go off sometimes (happened a few times now over the last couple of weeks...before that, not for about a year), either if we are sitting in...

    Suspension work advice

Good idea, thanks for the suggestion re Jax. In addition, anyone know the differnece between Control arm - lower inner "Steel shell design" and Control arm - lower inner "Urethane only design" ? It is obvious from the pics and the name, but what are the real implications? I'm thinking the...

    Suspension work advice

Hi Guys, Pedders told me I have a few problems with my VZ Exec sedan - they can fix for $2600 ! Anyway, main points they raised was my suspension in general...springs have sagged all around (rear 30mm lower than standard and springs are standard) and the rear shocks were stuffed (one...

    Which Workshop Manual is this?

I've used Haynes & Gregory's before....are either of them any good when it comes to VZ (or I guess VT/VX/VY/VZ) ? Is one better than the other (assuming there is a Gregory's equivalent)?

I was reading a lot of threads and came acorss this thread: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vt-vx-holden-commodore-1997-2002/75083-pedders-told-me-my-shocks-about-shoot-through-my-bonnet.html and I am interested in who publishes this manual: The thread is for VT/VX I think, but I...

    liquid/water sounds behind dash

    WTB: Vs Interior

I have a stock vs sedan....I can get parts to you from Sydney as my brother lives in Cowra but stays with us during the week for work. Let me know if you are after any parts still and if I go ahead with stripping mine, we work something out.

What should I do with my car ?

its more a matter of whether anyone will buy the damn thing...I'm sure anyone mechanically minded can get a new water pump on properly and workout anything else that is wrong with it, and they'd have a great car to drive around, BUT, they'd need to go to the effort of towing or renting a car...

What should I do with my car ?

Hi all, Just after some thoughts from all the car enthusiasts. I have a VS sedan sitting in my garage taking up unwanted space. At the start of the year, I was on the freeway and had the bearings in a pulley **** themselves which ripped off the fan belt. The engine then overheated a...

    Advice needed for battery/start problem

Thanks for all the advice guys ! We now have a running car ! I had to take a chance and assume it was the battery, as I couldn't afford to have it turn out to be the battery and not have one (had to go straight to the shops from work, so couldn't go home and test). We got an Exide one with...

    Advice needed for battery/start problem

Thanks Phreddy, I was warned about this particular dealer...it's my local one, not the one that I got the car from which is an hour away (they told me to use the local one as it was warranty work) hence why when they said Battery, and wouldn't let them replace it. I think I will get a new...

    Advice needed for battery/start problem

Hi Guys, I have a VZ Exec V6 (nothing special) amd have been having starting problems. I had the car in at a dealer yesterday for some other warranty repairs, and they looked into it, and declared that the battery is about to die. What i need to know is, if it is reasonable that it's the...

    Bait Advertising

What were the trying to do? Not sell at the catalogue price because they wouldn't make as much money? Re the display item, no, they won't sell it for liability reasons as they stated. They weren't trying to be difficult. (a) there is the fact that they assembled it, and (b) they don't know...

    Bait Advertising

You are probably right....the bait being to get you into the store, and the 'switch' when trying to sell you another item at a higher price. Our BigW experience was with DVDs, as they had various CSI boxed sets of various seasons. They sold out of them after 2 days. We checked, and they...

    Bait Advertising

Well, it's not bait advertising for a start, unless they do it, then try to sell you an alternative at a higher price. It is however against fair trading laws. They must obtain a reasonable amount of stock for any sale item to ensure their is stock for the duration of the sale, otherwise...

    Stereo Planning Questions

Hey Phreddy, A quick question, where'd you get hte checker plate for your shelf? I've found some steel suppliers but not sure if (a) they sell to public, or (b) if they are open on weekends. I doubt Bunnings sell it either. I have just purchased a 6cd HU so once the seller sorts their stuff...

    Choosing Subwoofers

Hi-jack away ! Thanks for all the feedback guys. It sounds to me like I should create myself a shortlist of decent subs (going by specs and brands, assuming a reputable brand usually means decent build quality) and try and get a listen to them. I'm not an audiophile, not going in comps, so I...

    Tool Has Car Impounded

Yes, sorry, that is NSW...haven't seen if other states have it. But we need that rule, as our roads are so bad. Though I don't know ho you are supposed to avoid them, it's not like you can swerve into other lanes, and often you can't see it's a puddle (or how deep it is) until you've hit it.

Air compressor for DIY auto painting

Thanks Phreddy ! With pre-made, I'd be too worried about getting them too short or excessively long. And I like the idea of the central wire for the remote. In your pics, what are the wires plugged into the amp between the power and earth wires? I thought these were the remotes - or are...
