the later commodores didnt have bt1 on the comlpiance plate..
i think they found better places to mount everything in the later cop cars so they didnt drill into the dash as much. or maby some one replaced it.
it could have also been a dectives car that only had the lights in the windows
ok this vk has been running on lpg for a long time and as you should know lpg burns valves. it was a more than ocasional but not constant. if its a partial burnt valve it will put occasionaly because the valve turnsas its poened and closed
you need a tune for any amount of boost as you need to ad more fuel to go with the extra air. you need to back off the spark so the mixture dosnt ignite to soon
also its a smaller pully to make more boost. it makes the charger spin faster
its eayser to drop the auto pan and drain the fliud and change the filter
if its black id sugest to take it to a specialist and get them to do a full flush of the whole auto
theres less friction in a hydrolic cam setup.
and theres also less loss of lift from the cam.
it would also make a difference if you ran roller rockers with the roller cam
ok im intrested in match porting my manifolds to my heads. inlet and exaust to the heads
has any one done this? or know how to do it?
i have acess to alot of speciality tool thew work.
also did it make much difference when it was done?
do you want to throw down the slips for your car to prove to me that your 6 is quicker than my 8??????
if youd like ill give you a chance and run it on gas. heheheheh
people who brag about there car being better than it really is with out any proof to back it up really drive me nuts.
were...
its in the passinger side foot well up under the dash you can see it if you get down there and look up. i think the dash has to come out to replace it, i think the fan box has to come out
theres no such thing as a dedicated lpg vn v8 well that ive heard of
i have seen gas research on one with no injector rails and holes in the manifold pluged
this is true.
there is too much cramed into my engine bay to make it tidy with out removing the gas.
hozy i ment hrs polishing the converter because of the shape of it and all the little crevises that are hard enough to keep the grease/dirt out of
as a mechanic i can confirm for you that the tps is conected directly to the throttle shaft other wise how would it register what position the throttle shaft/butterfly is in?
it dosnt look too bad but why polish it??? gas is only there so the car is cheaper to run.
also my vn dosnt have a huge ass mixer like that. and im not going to spend hours polishing the converter
its good to see how many actually survived the punishment of the police.
the other thing is: has any one got the switch to stop the interor light coming on when the doors are open?? or was that only on the undercover/stake out cars?
ive driven a vs with it
ok i better post in here....... click the link for the picks,
ok when i got the vn it had a few problems. ill list as many as i can remember.
front and rear bars had/ have the paint peeling off them, rust arround the back window, verry bad rear main oil leak, all the bellhousing bolts on the...
if you go for the cam. choose the cam you want first then get the reconditioner/builder to match the heads to the cam.
if your going to change the t/b id sugest going for a different manifold. as the banana manifold stops/ looses the ability to produce power after about5000rpm-5500rpm (quoting...
with 5g's you could have 220-250kws at the wheels.
if its a daily driver then id sugest a cam (not a huge one) maby up to a crane 276 and a chip maby a bit of head work or a vortech blower.
i dont think you will go into the galliries but you will need to plug up the hole where the fuel used to come out of or you wil be sucking in are from the fuel bowl
the springs in the lifters also sag and cause them to rattle.
if your after a better manifold/carby combo. ive got an elderbrock torquer single plane and a 600 holley on my hz that im soon to be getting rid of ( i think)
the holley has the linkage for the throttle cable on the wrong side...
