    Best exhaust option

Hey SS, here is my 2 cents worth. I had a Coby 3" catback on my E1 Senator LS2. It was way too loud & quite droney, but very cool driving through car parks setting car alarms off & everyone looks when you go by. I looked at all the options & in the end went for a 2.5" Xforce catback system...

    VE heater hose slow leak

This is an age old problem on VE. From memory they just replaced the joints & used standard hose clamps to fix mine. It wasn't expensive to fix either.

    Vibration in steering

Hi, I had a very similar issue to yours. What model is your car ? Mine is a Senator with large front rotors. I had new rotors & pads fitted at purchase. They also swapped my 20" GTS rims & tires over from my old Calais. Right from the start I had problems with "wheel balance" like wobbles. The...

    What to do? :(

The damage looks a lot worse that it is. It's easily reparable as long as the engine & other mechanicals are OK. Most of the damaged parts are bolt on. There may be some damage to the R/F rail & inner guard but that's not obvious in the picture. Parts are cheap for these things now & lots of...

    High Oil Pressure

Glad to hear that it's sorted Robbo. They aint cheap. The first new one I got supplied was faulty. Took $280 dollars at the auto sparky to find that out on top.

E1 Suspension issues - MRC Removal Dilemma

I agree totally on that comment Reaper. All I know is, compared to what I have been used to, the car now handles really well. I don't know what the HSV tech was thinking at the time either. I just don't think he drove it far enough to appreciate how bad it was. I know Monro probably don't...

E1 Suspension issues - MRC Removal Dilemma

I know to some this whole suspension option will seem wrong, but I have to say it is like night & day compared to what it was like before. I am very happy with it. Spring heights are what I was told to use to match the Monro strut & rear shock combination I was fitting. They are a bit lower...

E1 Suspension issues - MRC Removal Dilemma

Hello everyone. I thought I'd update you on the MRC issues. Had the system tested & electrical side was working as it was supposed to. No leaks from the front shocks found. The tech advised that the suspension felt like normal for its year & he agreed that it drove just like I described. Either...

E1 Suspension issues - MRC Removal Dilemma

Thanks for all the responses, they are really helpful. I was told the front springs fitted were a genuine MRC standard height spring. The resetting of the rear springs was definitely a mistake I won't repeat. It seems the suspension has definitely been mucked around with, unlike the rest of the...

E1 Suspension issues - MRC Removal Dilemma

I have had my 07 E1 Senator for a few months & have some concerning suspension issues. The car has done 85k & has 20" mags. It is my 3rd Holden & 2nd VE. The others were VT2 Calais & VE Calais V. With MRC in the off or standard mode, it handles like a big fat elephant on jelly. Suspension is...

Can I make my car more fuel efficient ?

Maybe try working through this list. Hope it helps Yes check O2 sensors first. New Air Cleaner Element (filter). Replace the plugs if not already done. Check tyre pressures are not too low - between 36-40 pounds. Clean the throttle body & make sure the MAF is clear of rubbish & is clean. Add...

    New wheels without lowering.

My Calais V had 20" GTS wheels on standard suspension. Check out the my ride pics. Some don't like it but I like it. That said i am not a fan of lowered cars either. Ultimately the choice is yours regardless of what anyone else thinks.

    lifter noise?

I would be asking the mechanic what oil he used. If it is lifter noise & not injector noise make sure you use the correct rated fully synthetic oil.

    Latest VE Pictures

Hey Manhore, I usually don't go for the bright yellows or oranges but every now & then I see a car that really suits it. The combination of track stripes & the yellow on your car looks absolutely stunning. Love it.

    Knocking Behind A/C Vents

Try doing a HVAC door relearn. Ignition on - but engine off, press and hold the rear demister button till you hear all the actuators moving. They are fairly quiet so close all the doors and windows so you can hear them working. That might fix your problem. If not the plastic cogs on the door...

    Knock in front suspension

Also could be front sway bar end links. They have been to source of my front end knocks along with the two rubber front sway bar bushes which have a revised design to help stop the problem. Do them first. Oh & buy genuine sway bar links. My experience of the aftermarket ones was a bad one, they...

Front Lip Poiler for Calais, , works ?!?

I really doubt the kit will fit the Calais. There is a genuine lip spoiler available that will fit tho. It is made for the Omega I think, but I have tried one up to my Calais & it will fit.

A Few VE Calais Problems i need answers for!

Yes the sway bar bushes would be a good option. Go for a nolathane sway bar bush. The desin of the replacement bushes has been modified with the split joint in a different position. Also look at the bush & bearing on top of the front struts, they can collapse quite badly.

2010 VE SV6 cycling droning noise whilst driving and caster problem

Hi dogbolter & welcome to the forum. The noise you describe is also happening with my Calais V. I had also thought it was the tyres but replaced them only to find it wasn't that. Then checked the wheel bearings & told they were fine. Still don't know what it is but will be changing driveshaft...

Strange vibration at 90-100kms - Transmission or Driveshaft ?? Opinions please

Hi guys, been a while tracking this vibration down. Wasn't anything we discussed at all. I had the mechanics check all the things suggested in previous posts to no avail. Still did it. I kept listening to the noise until I pinned it down to the left rear. The wheel bearings had been...

    Door lock appears stiff

Yep I agree with the mechanism, that's where I'd look. They can get rust proofing into them or just dust & grit etc. I would try a squirt of WD40 or CRC & give the thing a good working over. Open close the door several times & work the lock & handle levers till it frees up. You should remove the...

Strange vibration at 90-100kms - Transmission or Driveshaft ?? Opinions please

Ok here's an update on my vibration. Have had the front & rear driveshaft couplings checked & they seem ok. There is however small amounts of sprayed oil residue around centre bearing though ? The vibration definately seems speed related & only under load. It is not restricted to 4th...
