It will be the alternator 4 sure.Very common problem on that model. The battery cable on the alternator also can be a problem as they come loose and short out. The battery will be fine just flat,give it a good charge.

Most modern after market scan tools will do the job. We use ultra scan at work and it works fine on obd2.

First thing to do is pull the plug off the cig lighter and replace the fuse.If it does not blow u know 4 sure its in the cig lighter assembly. Is your car a wagon? I think from memory the back wiper runs though the cig fuse as well. cheers

Sounds like a flat battery to me too. Whats it do when u try and jump start it? The starter will click if it does not have enought power to it. Dont ever trust the racv they will just sell u something to make money. Let us know how u go ,good luck.

Just a quick reply. It is very common on vns for the front harmonic balancer to fail.This will sound like a death rattle in the engine.Check the balancer closly to make sure the inner rubber has not cracked or distorted.
