yeah Mine will go half way in heavy traffic or lights. The fan will kick in then. When on the move its at the first large mark on the temp guage - about 1/4.

If you are going to drill holes to attach it get the genuine holden plastic rivitts - they make it a piece of cake. If you dont want to hack up the bottom of your current air intake box there is also a part that fits the CAI straight up.

$239 for the inlet manifold gasket is pretty decent. I got prices from $280 - $380 from about 6 places I rang around before deciding to do it myself! Im no mechanic but VR's are pretty easy to work on if you have some vague idea and a gregory's. Gearbox is another story though :D

yep same issue now and then. Whack the dash to get it going. There is an article in the VN section that outlines the issue - seems to be more prelevant in the VN- its an issue that is fixed with soldering. I havent done it but I assume its the same for the VR/VS

yep - mine goes to half when stationery. The fan kicks in then. On the move its always below a quarter.

cheers for those ideas - I will continue to monitor it. The only othe thing I could think of was coolant leaking from one of the water pump pipes and being pushed back over that side of the engine block by air coming through. Ive tightened all the hoses and mopped up the mess so we'll see what...

lol - love this ford vs holden debate. I own an AU series 2 - ugly car but is great for towing, runs well and handles like a dream. All cars have their +'s and -'s - I usually just go with whats best for me at the time.. (Although my VR has found a soft spot in my heart :D )

*sigh* that was going to be too easy!! Sat there watching it after it got up to temp and nadda - not a drop of coolant coming up anywhere :bang: Its good cause I couldnt see it leaking - but bad because it is obviously leaking!! I'll just have to keep an eye on it I guess??

ello all was just going over the engine today and noticed a little pooling of coolant above the lhs rocker cover - buggered if I know where it came from - but I know there shouldnt be coolant there!!! Any ideas??

will the paint hold on the handles well - or does it wear easily?

nice pickup on the trade in!!! I got my old mans VR wagon for $1500 as thats what they offered him for a trade in!! Its done 213000 but hes treated it like a baby - serviced every 10k by holdens and a trans service every 20k. Runs really well - Ive just replaced a few interior trim items...

Must say I think the falcon looks better than the VE. Anyone with any sense will have a look at the falcon - Holden fanboi or not. First rule in buying cars NEVER buy the first version of a new model!!!!

on the tail light issue - I picked up some clear tail lights for the vr wagon. There is a rubber/foam seal/gromet that goes around the base of the bulb holder and seals the gap between the bulb holder and tail light housing. Mine are falling to bits - went to holdens - the only way to get...

Ive got a VR with the same problem - just give the dash a whack. Usually my fuel guage is ok - the temp guage sticks regularly. There is a thread in the VN forum on how to fix it - dont know if anyone can confirm this works on a VR?

the fact its happening when not moving, and your fan is working, I think would tend to indicate a radiator issue? I doubt the guage would just decide to screw up as the car wasnt moving??

yep - I cranked my wagon from 30 to 34psi and it makes a surprising difference!

sounds like your fan isnt coming on. Have you checked relays and fuses. The best way to check is have the car running - somewhere safe - not traffic lights - driveway is better - get it heating up then check under the bonnet. Hot tip - keep hands away from fan and resist the urge to poke it if...

lol -yeah I know what its like. But the led globes are quoted at 10,000 - 20,000 hours. I havent used one - but they shouldnt need changing too often!!

could you just have got an led globe? Probably easier - but youve done a nice job

most newer boards wont need a floppy with sata drivers - windows will detect the sata on install. The sata cables should come with the motherboard. the last pc I built didnt even have a floppy connector on the mb!

is an upgraded bcm or dash needed on an exec? Does anyone have diagrams on where/how to splice the shorter loom back into the main? cheers
