Think the additive is called 1098 by Sturacco? It is a friction modifier and is recommended by Holden...it is already premixed in the better synthetic diff oils like Penrite/Mobil/Castrol. I just changed to the Penrite Syn 80 and it has settled the diff chatter in my lsd...previously i hadn't...

Hey guys just wondered if anyone knows what mods might be needed to do away with my 5spd getrag box on my series 1 VT 5.0L( which feels like it belongs on a tractor!) and fit a series 2 VT onwards 6spd t56 gearbox from the 5.7L. Only had the car 3 weeks and I am disappointed with how the gearbox...

infront of the airbox seems such a tangle of pipes and wires any shroud would be pretty hard to get in anyhoo lol

Ahaha well i went to get it and they had all the bits except the shroud...which is the most important bit lol!! Had a good look at the monaro air box and while they r similar the screw/support spots r in different places so it'd be a bit of messing around. The hole in the bottom of my box atm...

Ah cheers..i am just of to Holden to pick up the goodies! I will compare the airboxes to see if i need to get that as well :). will get a pic later..done or not!

here in perth i got quoted $400 to respray front /back bumpers and the sideskirts..think that was quite a good price..so maybe budget $200 for a bumper alone??

i had the same prob on my 97 VS wagon..every day at some point the abs off warning light would come on.still don't know y but sold the car as it was. read somewhere that it can be dirty sensors at the wheels? good luck with it

Hi all, excellent thread, just wanted to doublecheck on what ur saying Murdoch. I read the thread under LS1 as well and it lists the 3 part nos. but I have a Vt 5.0L and I think the airbox is not the same as the one ur all talking about(i could be wrong tho), so do I need to buy a monaro airbox...

Actually having read a bit more and called Holden I think I need to get the parts listed at the beginning plus a monaro airbox($94) . Same question tho..do you know if this combination will fit straight into my VT series 1 5L? Many thx

The exhaust on this car sounds about as exciting as my mums barina lol..just can't hear the V8. I crawled underneath 2day and it seems to have a dual pipe set up through a cat and a Holden muffler on each pipe then merges to a single pipe near the diff with a monster of a muffler box just...

my wgn had a serious clunk like u describe Winter..felt like a tractor to drive , with a solid clunk when speeding up/slowing down/changing gear..also a slight whine in the lsd. Took it to WA diff centre yesterday and he showed me how worn the flexible rubber coupling at the front of the drive...

mmm that looks really good...i have a series 1 Vt 5L manual wagon with the getrag 5 spd g/box..did hear that the shifters out of these later models might fit straight into mine and really improves the gear change..you don't happen to know if this is true do you?

Thx ...i do tend to stress abit when i get a new car!! Used the trip function 2day and it warms up to 89 the gets up to 97 before dropping back ... the fans come on at 95 and turn off again at 90. Just wasn't expecting the fans to be on and off so often..especially as its winter! But still it...

ah thx guys i was just thought it was sitting a bit high compared to a mates V6 VS which sits around a third..and doesn't have the fans coming on so often..different beast but it is reassuring to know that it is sitting at around the right level on the guage...doesn't move at all once it is up...
