Its a factory 253. The body plate says the diff is GU7, which I believe is a 10 bolt diff. So from what you say, it looks like V8 and 6 cylinder diff gears are NOT interchangeable. Thanks for your quick reply.

Hi there, I've got a VB Commodore V8 with a factory fitted 2.78 diff ratio. There is a 6 cylinder Salisbury diff on ebay with a 3.36 ratio. Are the 6 cylinder diff gears interchangeable with V8 diff gears? Both diffs are NOT LSD.

Without knowing where the rust is, and how bad it is, it is impossible to answer your question. But for certain, if you cant repair it yourself, and have to pay someone else to repair it, it will most likely cost you big dollars.

You have posted previously that you think it is safer for you to drive around with your WANK, sorry, fog lights on. I think it is safer for you to drive around with your fog lights off, as every pathetic sheep drives with them on, so it is more alarming to see a car driving without fog lights on.

I believe not. The drivers actuator controls all 4 door actuators, where the passenger side actuator does what its told from the drivers actuator. Hope this helps.

From my experience with my VR SS, I would say DEFINATELY the ignition coil. Its a prick to get to, but not too expensive to buy. Ive had my VR SS for 15 year and have broken down/replaced the coil twice.

A similar thing happened to me on my VR SS. Turns out it was the drivers door actuator that was stuffed. The drivers door actuator controls all 4 doors. Fitted a new one and all fixed.

I don't think its any sort of high tech engineering device preventing the rear wheels spinning, most likely that it is a V6. The VS V6 didn't have "wheel control", it just didn't have any balls. I get a laugh out of V6 drivers searching for more power by fitting hundreds or thousands of dollars...

If your car is a V6, wait until its raining pretty heavily, put some oil down on the road, then do a really sharp turn, left or right, it doesn't matter. If you follow my suggestion, you will surely leave one skinny black line on the road. Or you could get a V8, and you wouldn't ask such a question.
