Yea i've had the a few little problems like jerome_boy with backfiring. Turned out to be a gas leak, got that fixed and no dramas since... Performance side of things? there is a noticable drop in power BUT nothing too dramatic. I'm definately glad i have it with the petrol prices these...

I also had the backfire problem on LPG in my VS. Turned out it was a gas leak coming out of a corroded O ring. If u can smell gas then this could be your problem....

could it be alternator whine, caused by interference from the alternator being picked up in the RCA leads.... this usually happens when you lay the RCA signal leads down next to the amp's power lead. did u do the install yourself or shop fitted??

I used some MDF which was cut in the shape of that section of the boot. Then i covered it with the same colour carpet as the boot, drilled holes for the cables to come through, wired and screwed the amp to the MDF, then screwed the wall to the metal of the boot wall.
