    VF Random chat thread

    I have a MY14 Calais V and it hasn’t got a perforated wheel.

    Goodbye... Holden :(

I’m not talking about them producing parts, more that these cars are mass produced and there should be a load of parts out there regardless. Does anyone think that VF parts are going to be rare?

    Goodbye... Holden :(

What models are they going to supply parts for? I have a VF Calais V and a JH Cruze SRIV. I can’t really see parts being an issue for either of those for a while.

    Goodbye... Holden :(

If I can generalise, there two types of Australian. Those that love the traditional locally manufactured Commodore, and those who think Commodores are bogan shitboxes. I am from the first group but I know many people in the second group. What Holden tried to do was appeal to the second group...

    Well... I pulled the pin

Good to see a write up from someone who has one. Never noticed an issues with the heads up in my VF CalaisV. Seems like a good car but I’m not sold on its styling. It looks good from certain angles and not good from others. I dont think the interior is anywhere near as nice as the VF. That...

    Holden Airbags Are Safe.

I read somewhere where it mentioned European sourced Holdens so it’s more likely to be the Insignia or Astra.

    Vz calai questions

I have had my V6 VZ Calais for about 9 years and it has over 250,000km on it now. No major issues really. A few O2 sensors needed replacing back when it was still under warranty. Had a radiator let go earlier this year. Rear parking sensors have always been intermittent but really don't worry...

    Thinking of buying vz

Had a '06 VZ Calais since 2008. Problems I have had (nothing major BTW) - Rear parking sensors were working intermittently when I bought it. Fixed by replacing wiring harness under warranty back in 2008. Not a problem since. - O2 sensor giving check powertrain warning. Fixed under warrany by...

    Hingo's VZ Calais

Got defected last week for worn front tyres. Damn carpark warriors. Now I have to get a ****ing pink slip.

    VZ Auto 'Power Shift'

Does anybody know if PWR mode in combination with the paddle shifters has any effect or does manual shift override PWR?

    hard to turn the key

I had this exact problem the other day during the heat. It was a prick. Bloody thing would not turn. I forced it so hard I thought I was going to break the key and it finally turned with a clunk. Took me a good 10 minutes of trying. It was like the steering lock wasn't fully releasing. It was a...

Never going to another holden dealership

I have had no real problems with my Holden dealer (Commonwealth Motors in Canberra). They have fixed all my niggling issues under warranty and performed all my services since owning the car. Can't complain. Can I ask what dealership you went to 06vzcalais? Canobolas Holden?

Best rims on a VZ Calais?

HSV Sigs are very similar wheels but bigger so if you like the stock look but want bigger rims, they are the way to go. You can always change the centre caps to standard holden ones if you don't want the HSV badge on there.

Best rims on a VZ Calais?

The stock VZ Calais wheels are sexy IMO
  16. hingo1983

    Wing or no wing???

I'd have to agree with you there. Why would you make your SS look more like an Exec? The wing suits the SS. Looks bare without it.

    Problems with ESP

I'm not sure its a safety problem. If it is anything like mine, it will just put the brakes on a wheel to guide it into the corner rather than pull it out of a corner. Doesn't happen very often and it could be argued that I'm taking these corners at a higher speed than the average driver but I'm...

    Problems with ESP

Yep they store the codes and they can check them. Thats what they did with mine. I have no idea exactly what they did though because I dropped it off to them. It was done under warranty.
  19. hingo1983

    Problems with ESP

I find my ESP is a bit sensitive and will sometimes activate around corners. The first time it kicked in was going around Parliament House (Capital circle), it was strange. When I was driving around Tassies twisty roads, it was kicking in quite a bit on hairpin bends. So much that I turn it off...

    VZ interior parts

Where? I have looked on eBay and can't find one. I'm talking about the small storage bin in the centre console near the electric window switches.

    VZ interior parts

Do any of you guys know where I can find a replacement centre console lid as found on the HSV's and Calais? A clip on mine has broken. This is the lid where the cup holders are located on othermodels.

Replaceing centre console storage compartment on VZ Calais

Like an idiot, I snapped the little catch on the lid of centre console storage compartment while cleaning my car. Unfortunately the broken piece fell down a gap in the centre console and is gone forever. I made up a replacement catch but its more of a temporary fix. Has anyone replaced this...

    Hingo's VZ Calais

Thanks surfwagon. I'm happy to keep it stock for now but Sigs do look nice if I ever went for an alternative. I snapped the lid catch on the small storage compartment in the centre console last night cleaning the interior. I could have murdered somone. It seriously looks like a pain in the arse...

    Hingo's VZ Calais

Yep and I rarely use them. The only time I touch them is on steep downhill sections where they are quite handy.
  31. hingo1983

    Wing or no wing???

SV6's and SS's look better with the wing IMO. Calais with a wing is ok but better without. All other models look better without a wing.

    Steering knock noise

Nah its just out of warranty but Holden is right near my work so its a matter of convenience plus they have always done a satisfactory job at fixing issues for me before. If it doesn't do it again I'll ring up and cancel on Monday.
  34. hingo1983

    Steering knock noise

For the life of me I can't get it to do it again. I have the car booked into Holden on Monday. If it doesn't do it again, I think I'll cancel the booking until it does it again.

    Steering knock noise

Hi guys, Over the last couple of days I have noticed a bit of a knock noise when doing sharp turns (carpark driving). I tried recreating the problem yesterday afternoon and this morning but couldn't get it to do it, seems like the problem has disappeared. Bit of a worry as I'm going on a big...

    vz calais

Bought mine with 75,000k's on it last year and have had no major issues. Like you, I could had a look at the VE but thought the VZ looked sportier and seemed to have a better quality interior. I know a guy who has a VE SSV and he also thinks the interior of my car is better quality. The only...

    What's the difference between 06 & MY06?

Correct. Its to do with emissions. I had the same deal when doing my insurance recently.
