    vy cooling system issue

I've heard/seen reviews from many who said otherwise. Each to their own I guess.

    carbon fibre paint

You can use paint for a reasonable carbon fibre effect. You need a piece of anti-slip matting that's as big as your workpiece. There used to be a video where the guy laid down a black base, followed by a silver coat with the mat and then another coat of black or grey but with mat offset 1mm to...

    vy cooling system issue

What about the little hose nipple on the side of that bit that leads to the overflow bottle? Is that cracked/broken. If you do need to replace the radiator, you can get a full aluminium unit for about $180 on eBay. The normal plastic end tank crap ones go for about half that so it is worth...

    vy cooling system issue

What psi cap did you buy? You could get your cooling system pressure tested which will show up any leaks in the radiator, etc.

    How's your 4l60e going?

Mine (albeit being a v6) is still going fairly strong at 211,xxxkm and I do have a large trans cooler fitted.

    VY number plate globes

If they're like the sedan lights you'll need to push the clear cover to one side and lever it out of the number plate garnish and then twist the black plastic housing and pull that out and then wiggle the globes free.

    vy ss m6 ticking

Once my mum drove over a plastic bag and it had melted onto the middle muffler and your symptoms sound very similar. It could just be a sticker or some tape that is burning. I'd get it checked properly on a hoist just to be sure though. The smell on my mum's car lasted for months and then one...

    vy ss m6 ticking

It sounds like one of the exhaust manifold gaskets isn't sealing. You could try to nip up the exhaust manifold bolts a little but don't over tighten them.

    drive belt

I've got the 6pk2810 and it's a very very tight fit (VY with a/c). The 6pk2825 might be the better option.

redback exhaust...and lame excuse by mechanic

I've got HM extractors, 2x VY1 HSV cats and a RAGE single 2.5" catback. I get a teeny bit of drone when cruising along at about 1600rpm in 3rd (auto) and a decent note at WOT. If I had my time again I would buy a Lukey catback instead.

Can cats rattle at high rpms?

If the internal biscuit is stuffed in your cats then they will only rattle on idle. If the welds that secure the heatshields on the cats are buggered then they will rattle at any rpms, any speed, etc.

Best H7 globes for VE headlights ?

I just bought and installed Phillips CrystalVision 4300k globes in the parkers, low and hi beams of my VY. I was going to get standard replacements just for the globes that had blown, but I opted for these because I drive up through Emerald at least once a fortnight and the extra light will help...

Stories of time you have meant to buy one thing and bought much more.

This is basically how my build up started. Luckily, most of these were bargains I couldnt really pass up at the time, hence why I went a little overboard. Stockies needed new tyres = bought 17" rims and tyres Rear pads were fkd and some cockhead cut me off in the first week of getting the car =...

    VY Brake Discs upgrade

Slotted rotors with an above average street style pad will give you good results. I'm using RDA slotted discs and EBC greenstuff pads and I wouldn't really recommend the greenstuffs. They do squeal very lightly now and then. The squeal is most likely age related (going on a few years now) and...

Broad but, Best engine oil for a V6?

I reckon you'd burn less or no oil if you serviced the VY every 10k. 15k is pushing it. How many kms do you travel in a year in the VY?

Pre ecotec heads. porting and CFM ?

Just a little note. Flow benches are like dynos. All of them will give you a different figure.

Pre ecotec heads. porting and CFM ?

If you have, or can track them down, one of the SC V6 tech specific magazines had an article on ported pre ecotec heads. It will have enough details in there to answer most/all of your questions.

Broad but, Best engine oil for a V6?

Any of the well known brands in 10w40, 15w40, 10w50 or even 15w50 will be fine. For a car with lowish kms such as yours, stick with 10w40 or 15w40. For the record, I'm just about to tick over 170,000kms and I use penrite hpr10 10w50. The sad thing with VY's is that they need almost 6L and almost...

    [Ecotec] VY Ecotec Turbo Build!

    VY fuel filter... HELP!!!

This is for the VY owners. With one hand firmly on the filter and the other hand on the clip, push with a little force the connectors towards the filter. You don't need any fancy tools and be careful with the little tabs in the clips as you may damage them. Then all you need to do is slowly...

    Turbo VS

Being a manual and your spooling requirements, I'd suggest you find a GT35R with a .82 a/r turbine housing. It will give you the best of both worlds and you'll have plenty of airflow in reserve if you decide to get serious.

What mods are needed internally for 5psi on a buick engine?

You've pretty much answered your own questions. You will need a better fuel pump and higher flowing injectors A intank walbro pump and L67 injectors will do for low boost. Buick v6's are quite resilient to boost provided that all the necessary support systems are in place such a good fuel...
