    v6>v8 conversion

In my opinion and I am not disregarding what has been said, but there is a lot more involved than just changing an engine and gearbox. Suspension and brakes are maybe more important than engine power as you want it to ride and stop as well (if not better) than it goes. Even if I had a...

My VZ wagon keeps refusing to start!

Mine (05 VZ Wagon) had similar problems after I had some exhaust work done when I first bought it. Turned out the exhaust guys didn't reattach one of the knock sensors and the ECU was freaking out. When I found this out we also found the engine earth was loose and the bolt had almost fallen...

    VCM Tunning Software

I would do it in a heartbeat if anyone in SA did them......... :ranting:

    Rear mount twin turbo

This would cost more than an underbonnet turbo with (presumably) less gains. Also the problem with this would be water getting on that thing when it's red hot. Might be good for the strip with a bit of R&D but I couldn't see it being viable for an everyday driver.

    VZ Wheels

I'm the same as winired. I have ve sv6 rims from Wheel King and they fit fine and I haven't noticed any problems so far. Just make sure you get the modified rims and also use the genuine gm nuts supplied with the rims.

    VZ Exective Powerchip Installed

Did they say if they removed the transmission management software? or customised the shift points? (I presume it's an auto.) If they didn't personally I wouldn't bother. A custom tune (vcm) will allow you to remap the shift points and disable the inhibiting software and get more for about the...

    Service Engine Oil ???

My brothers berlina had this too and it turned out some numbnut at Holden had put the 6L v8 software on it instead of the v6 software. No harm done and Holden reflashed under warranty.

    Check Engine Alert

Holden will try to slug you for the cost and maybe even O2 sensors if any of them are faulty (shouldn't be) because they won't cover aftermarket mods. But yes they just need to reset it.

    Barbados Blue VZ Wagon

Nice wagon there mate. Always good to see some more VZ wagon owners here. As for the auto you get used to it and personally I would be putting the money into mods, a tune and a 3.46 lsd and eating those standard manuals and autos for breakfast.

    VZ 170 performance

How many kms has it done? Do you know what it was used for previously? Service history? Any previous warranty (or other) work done? I have an Acclaim wagon and it's going pretty good now but after a day at the track in 'other' cars it feels like a slug.

    alloytech v6

I tend to agree with you. I am a holden man through and through but have been disappointed with holden's efforts with the alloytec. I believe the engine/driveline package could have been so much more with some r&d. You just need to drive either European or even Japanese cars to see the...

    Tinting my VZ sedan

Defection is not worth the trouble. Go with the darkest legal tint for your state (they sometimes differ) and avoid the hassle of ripping it off just so you can drive it.

    190kW Alloytec tune results!

Warranty is always a grey area with Dealers. Just get to know yours as some of them are ok with it. Best way would be to ring your own dealer and ask them. If not, ring another. Another thing to note is that some dealers will re-flash with the standard (s***house) Holden tune when servicing...

Fuel Economy Per Tank Of Fuel

4Speed Auto, 175 Alloytec, Vortex, Standard tank (75L), Hooning around town approx. 12L/100k (600-650kms), Highway <10L/100kms (700+kms but i never run it empty so unsure of max)

    190kW Alloytec tune results!

If you look on the vcm website (http://www.vcm-suite.com.au/) it says the BETA testing is complete and now HP Tuners VCM Suite v2.1.18 tunes can be undertaken for the Alloytec. It also states that the BETA tune did not allow for the 5 speed auto (although the 4 speed was fine). I am glad...

vz sv6 vs VN v8 (both stock)

ok it seems like this was a hypothetical question. Take them both to the drags (both stock or both modified) and you might get an answer. The price of a car has nothing to do with this question. It's new vs old. A V6 vs a V8. The truth is noone really knows yet what gains can be made from...

    Rubber Burn Smell

Might be the power steering. People are reporting smoke and/or burning smell from their power steering oil. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?t=47236

vz sv6 blue smoke on start up

Have you owned the car from new?? Might have been a dealer thrash-mobile or driven badly. But yes you should take it to your dealer although they will prolly want you to leave it there so they can start it cold and see for themselves.

    Alloytec power up

How much cash you got?? Look at CAPA superchargers if you have plenty to spare. Otherwise do a search for CAI or exhaust componenets and VCM tunes.

    haha, right on lol
  27. helmsy

vz sv6 vs VN v8 (both stock)

Well stock vs stock it would be pretty damn even and prolly depends on the driver. Modded vs modded depends on what mods. I was dead even and pulling away from a vn v8 (dunno if any mods) and I have the pos 4speed, but CAI and full exhaust system.

    VZ Problems

I have seen a 3.08 LSD diff for sale for about $450. It's from a VYSS Ute. Would this be ok for the 4 speed auto (175 Alloytec) wagon and is the price ok?

    Brake Upgrades

Unless you are doing track work or races slotted discs are fine. If you are after better brake 'feel' then better pads and lines would be an improvement.

Thanks guys. Any ideas how much Holden charge to fix the Odo/Speedo. Would these diffs be LSD?

    ECU Reset

There is another thread here about pulling the fuse for the engine ecu to reset it without losing other settings - clock, etc. Previous quote "You can reset the ECU back to default by taking the engine fuse out for 30 seconds. Then drive it around for about 1/2 an hour. It should get better."...

    Sooty Pipes!

I only run on 98RON (mostly Vortex) and constantly have carbon soot on my exhaust pipes. After cleaning them it doesn't take long for it to return. I notice it more after the new exhaust system but after looking at other VZ's I have noticed that a lot of them do as well. Is this a...

    restricting power

Thanks andyman. I think what ppl (me) want to hear is that the VCM tune will be able to remove this anti-abuse or torque management system. I am waiting in anticipation for this VCM tune and any results or information is always greatly appreciated.
