You can use any VQ-VS IRS diff in a series 1 vt, if you have ABS you just need to use the rear plate off your diff to get the sensors in the factory spot.

The fire is not caused by it being a vz coil, there was a very short run with faults in series 1 VZs but all they did was die. Normally if the coil catches fire its because some muppet left a spark plug loose.

Have done heaps of these things, they aren't a hard job. Just a very fiddly one and very time consuming. I wouldn't want someone that hasn't done it before touching it either. If you're in VIC I know a good place to get it done.

The tailshafts are also 2 piece. When I converted my old vp ute to manual I had a sedan shaft and used just the front half.
