    I wanna de-stroke a 3.8

Hmm, yyyyeeeessss. But you state yourself "otherwise the drag will swat it" so less drag will get you there quicker for any given power. Then you just have to get it to rev higher. Cheers, Steven

    I wanna de-stroke a 3.8

streamlining Hi Dr Goggles, You stated a few posts back that their can be no bodywork outside the inner edge of the tyres in your class. Had you thought any about streamlining the axles. Most aircraft with tubuler struts have a cover that goes round the leading edge and tapers back to a...

    Alloytec Performance upgrades

duh You got me there immortality. As I have not had anything to do with Ecotecs other than knowing they were derived from the Buick 90 deg V8. I just assumed the Ecotec was an uneven fire V6. A quick search tells me they changed the Buick V6 to a split crank in 1977. Live and learn!!!!!

dedicated LPG GAS tuning in PERTH

gas idle Do you have individual injectors on each cylinder? I had my Jag converted to dual fuel with a piggy back ecu with individual injectors on each cylinder and it will barely idle on Gas, in fact it mostly stalls so we have to go back to ulp in traffic.

    advice on v6 ecotech

I wish all these figures (dyno readouts) were given in engine rpm rather than road speed. Then I could compare apples with plums. My 2 cents....

    alloytec stuff

    L67 parentage

    Will do that, cheers.

    L67 parentage

Its a bit more involved actually. The problem is that unlike cars aircraft don't have a long flexible driveline with tailshafts, diffs, axles, rubber tyres to dampen the power impulses from the engine. If an engine is uneven fire and the prop and transmission shaft are not carefully chosen a...

They say a picture paints a thousand words so have a look at this one http://www.tally-ho.org/images/completed/tally-ho%20image9.htm

    L67 parentage

Well thats good that the Alloytec is 60deg. That means it is an even fire engine and would be suitable for my application. For an explanation of even fire have a look at this page http://www.epi-eng.com/ET-PistonExcit.htm If it is all a bit wordy just scroll down to the bit about even and odd...

    L67 parentage

Thanks for that guys. So if the L67 etc are all 90deg is the alloytec 60deg? Please say so or none of em are any good for my project.

    L67 parentage

Since the L67 is derived from the ecotec and the ecotec is derived from the Buick which itself was based on a V8 (keep with me here this is gettin messy) does that mean the V angle is 90degrees on the L67?

    supercharged V6

Similar sort of thing to this link http://www.tedbullock.com/Powerplant.html Except mine is wood not tin and I will be looking for more power than they have hence the plan to intercool. As the prop has a max speed there is no need for an engine that will rev out to a zillion redline. I believe...

    supercharged V6

So the SC engine is no longer available new. Bummer. I have in mind the V6 to power my project. I specifically need max torque at around 4500rpm. It won't be reving any higher than that, in fact will be governed to max at that. It will be SC not TC and will be intercooled with probably a motec...

    supercharged V6

Thanks for the primer Sircruise. So if you bought a factory blown engine today either in a crate or in a new car today it would be based on the older ecotec engine?

    supercharged V6

Hello all, Been lurking for a while trying to learn a bit about the GM V6. Know a fair bit about engines but a novice with these. What is the difference between the earlier V6 and the later ones? I think the early one has something to do with the Buick V6. Is the Ecotec the latest engine or is...
