How recent was the Transmission serviced ! If unknown, take car to Auto Transmission Specialist and get them to check it for you. A check shouldn't cost you a fortune.

Check the Harmonic Balancer. If it is damaged or worn it can cause the engine to shake, rattle and roll (if you know what I mean).
