is pcv supposed to be air tight?

i was also under the impression that it was supposed to be a 1 way valve. pvc-001 which is the aftermarket replacement for the ls1 doesn't seal at all. it restricts airflow but doesn't seal completely. I thought maybe i had a faulty valve but they're all like that. If someone can confirm that...

is pcv supposed to be air tight?

I can confirm that running the old genuine pcv has sorted my vacuum issue out. But very confused. Pcv001 is the part number specified for ls1 and 5.0. i have read that gm had an alternative version that was a different design that actually does have a controlled air leak for low vacuum cam...

is pcv supposed to be air tight?

I have 2 replacement pcv valves for an ls1. part number pcv-001. 1 is brand new , the other was on the car. both are leaking air if i blow through them like a controlled leak. the old genuine one i have is airtight sometimes. Is pcv-001 the correct part for an ls1? is it supposed to have a...

    VS not starting

That's an awesome link, it's a shame that it has so many ads. My problem ended up being the new dfi module. No idea why, but these new delphi ones are trash. Its the second faulty one theyve sent me. First one had a dud pin. Can't win lol

    VS not starting

Yeah pretty much that's all I can think of I've got no codes and it didn't do anything other than the thermo fans. I've got 12v at the dfi with the ignition on. Not sure how to test the cam or crank sensor, but I feel I would have a code if they were no good?
  6. King_berald

    VS not starting

Nah, I but I'm pretty sure that doesn't matter on vs as bcm and pcm arent linked.
  7. King_berald

    VS not starting

Yeah I have an l67 ecu. I didn't change my bcm but. I didn't think that was required. It's was running but. I was logging at the time.

    VS not starting

i have an l67 conversion ive been working on. Ive been logging data, just idling in the driveway because I've got a bit of a misfire. it does this thing where the engine starts to get a bit warm (even if it goes over 100deg). the fans wont kick in so i turn the car off and back on for the fans...

    Caliper pistons

Havent pulled them down. I lost brakes on the way to work the other day so im just getting everything together for the job over xmas while i got the car off the road.

    Caliper pistons

Thanks for the replies, yeah i was going to use my old pistons as a last resort. The pistons came part of a kit. i was just skeptical of the size difference between the 2 parts. Im wondering if anyone has used them before and if the part is interchangeable like they say

    Caliper pistons

Hi guys, I've been trying to order some pistons for my front calipers (for my vx) and I seem to be a bit confused, I believe the part number is K272-020 (Diameter: 42mm / Height: 43.7mm), I've been supplied with part number K272-040(Diameter: 41.9mm / Height: 44.5mm) which I think is to suit BA...

    Charcoal cannister vent valve

thanks guys. After a bit more reading overnight, i was able to work out that the purge solenoid in the engine bay is basically the check valve for the system. Air is drawn through the vent port so no valve in the cannister itself. Definitely time for a smoke test

    Charcoal cannister vent valve

Hi all, just diagnosing a vacuum leak on a vx ls1. I was having a look at the charcoal cannister and i was wondering if anyone knows if youre supposed to be able to blow air into the vent valve? Or is my valve stuck open? Does anyone know the way to test the vent valve? is there even a valve...

    Lifter preload

yeah well turns out thats false info lol. On the zzp article, they say that oem lifters need 1/2 to 1.5 turns based on 0.05 every half turn. giving it a range of 0.050 to 0.150... but im pretty sure its supposed to be 0.05 every full turn no? so 1-3 turns? i sent them an email anyhow.
  18. King_berald

    Lifter preload

he said about 0.04.. Which ties in with ZZPs stuff. 3/8 to 1/2 turn.
  19. King_berald

    Lifter preload

Called the guy at crow cams.. Apparently even the oem replacement lifters are ls7 lifters. So I would only assume the other brands would be much the same? With this new information, I think I need new pushrods.
  20. King_berald

    Lifter preload

where abouts did you see that stock lifters want 0.05" - 0.15"? I cant seem to find anything in my manuals.
  21. King_berald

    Lifter preload

https://www.maceengineering.com.au/CROW-CAMS-HYDRAULIC-ROLLER-LIFTERS-FOR-HOLDEN-COMMODORE-VS-VY-ECOTEC-L36-L67-SUPERCHARGED-38L-V6 Mace are saying that they are.
  22. King_berald

    Lifter preload

yes for those lifters, but 0.15 which is apparently what stock lifters can handle is 3 turns
  23. King_berald

    Lifter preload

http://www.crowcams.com.au/portals/0/catalogue/index%20pdf's/Installing%20and%20Adjusting%20Morel%20Hydraulic%20Lifters.pdf ok i think i worked out why im confused. This pdf on the crow cam website explains the math. So 0.05 is a full turn. so technically stock lifters can take up to 3 turns of...

    Lifter preload

but how much preload would you give those crow cram lifters? ive already got them installed.

    Lifter preload

https://www.crowcams.com.au/ShopbyProduct/tabid/92/ProdID/16884/CatID/331/Default.aspx How much preload would you give these?
  26. King_berald

    Lifter preload

so, my heads have been machined too far? lmao god i was really hoping it was just the pushrods
  27. King_berald

    Lifter preload

isnt it 0.05" per half turn? so 1.5 turns?
  28. King_berald

    Lifter preload

i built a motor that now has a misfire. i have no idea what the problem is. I found it hard to find info on the preload also as i replaced the lifters and realised the heads had been decked. I got pushrods at 6.95 because that gives me just over 1 turn. So to read that they should be factory...
  29. King_berald

    Lifter preload

    So how much preload?
  30. King_berald

    Lifter preload

So it doesn't matter how far the heads are machined, as long as its within spec, you would used factory length pushrods? did i understand correct?

    L67 supercharger bolts

Hi guys, just a quick question. Do the bolts used to bolt down the supercharger on an l67 need to be threadsealed? I can't remember if the threads are exposed on the inside of the LIM. Cheers

Hi guys, I picked up a Whiteline sway bar for my vs and I noticed that they come with specific link pins (in the kit)when new. Does anyone know where I'd be able to grab a set? Or what the part number is? Surely I dont need to buy another sway bar to get the link pins...

    V6 oil pressure issue

It's an l67. Yeah he does. Yeah bit of a silly mistake, I'm not sure what's happened lol. Not ideal. It was pretty clean when I got the bottom end back. I thought he'd done an alright job at cleaning it up by looking at it with my eyes. So I mean it would have been tough for him to know what's...

    V6 oil pressure issue

I don't think so. He said he's gonna re-do everything for me. I assume he's just as frustrated as me. Originally it was full of crap when it got torn down. It must have had some more in it somewhere. My oil was going black straight away. Even after 5-6 oil changes.
