Well, thanks for nothing. I'll ask questions of someone else on the forum infuture. Neo-Liberal? Journalist? "CNN? **** off.

News Flash - Extra! Extra! Read All About It

I think your response is a bit Utopian. We are talking about dealing with a nation with the largest population on earth ruled (not led) by a harsh communist regime which over recent years has shown scant regard for international law. China has always been unpredictable. The evidence in the...

News Flash - Extra! Extra! Read All About It

My greatest concerns are twofold. The first is what state our economy will be like at the end of this pandemic. The second is how we will relate to China, given our dependance on that country for trade and investment. Personally, I'd like the world to turn on China. Their arrogance and lack...

Assange. Allegedly involved in sex crimes in Sweden. Allegedly revealed multiple details of military and political sensitivity to US. Runs off and seeks political asylum for ten years ln the Embassy of a country which has extradition treaty with neither Sweden nor US. Sympathy? Not one bit...

are vx berlina's front bonnet and front guards replacable with vt's?

Yep. The VX was a tiny face-lift. Every steel body panel is the same.

I think we have reached peak stupidity

This virus has demonstrated how excessive our reliance on China as a major trading partner has become. When the epidemic has passed, I hope the world looks at China in a harsh light and reassessed their relationship. For us, it will be extremely difficult due to their investments here, their...

An Open Letter to Greta Thunberg

Well, I did stress a few times that my comments were opinions only. We are all entitled to them. We form them based on multiple factors. Experience, comprehension of what we see and hear, and discussion are some of those factors. It is possible to have an intelligent discussion on this...

An Open Letter to Greta Thunberg

I'm not about to find facts to dispute her views. I don't agree with some of her statements and that's my opinion nothing more. Those of you who are committed to climate change tend to be intolerant of those who don't share a similar commitment. We get called deniers, which is entirely wrong...

An Open Letter to Greta Thunberg

I find it very difficult to comprehend how a 16 year old school child can go from absenting herself from school to demonstrate her climate beliefs, to getting an audience in front of world leaders at the UN without having some significant support from influential individuals or corporations...

Well, the government is providing the money for consumers to spend to keep business operating. The problem is, non-essential businesses are being closed down. You might have trouble spending that money on a car for a while.

    Four-wheel-drives and our new obsession

EYY Can't agree about four door utes being good for family transport. My daughter purchased a new Triton early last year thinking it's versatility as a people/load carrier met their needs. Already, she hates the poor ride quality. Harsh on poor roads and uncomfortable for the rear seat...

    Will vs market go up

The value of any car in the future is determined by three factors. Age, rarity and condition. You can only control the third factor.

    HOLDEN ENGINEERS

That's frogshit. I agreed that the ZB was a good car, but arrived at the wrong time. Remember my comment? Wrong car, wrong time? All you could do was rubbish my choice of a Captiva when I hadn't rubbished you. You are a hypocritical goose. Full stop.

    Holden fire sale

That's a typically negative view. 11k off is a damned good discount if you were comparing apples for apples. You get a 49k car for 38k. So, the Opposition is still around 45 to 50k, you buy one of them, and they drop by 10k or so immediately too. You're still well in front. Keep the car...

Holdens final sales warranty only five years.

I've just seen the Holden final sales clearance ad and it states that the warranty will be five years. I suppose that makes it easier to eventually clear out altogether.

72HQ that has unknown upgraded disc brakes

Those new pics make things a lot easier to comprehend. The first pics gave the impression the hoses were stressed. I'm not sure running the hoses beneath the upper control arm is a good idea though. Is there any sign on the hoses of rubbing against the suspension?

72HQ that has unknown upgraded disc brakes

I cant see the bleed valve but those calipers look like they've been installed on the wrong side and they're upside down. The brake linevliiksvlike it's under tension as it should be on the top of the caliper. Where are the bleed valves?

    Rechroming door belt moulding

I know the trims fitted around the glass in VB's was anodised aluminium because we fitted a brand new set to a base VB years ago. I remain sure the original trims weren't stainless steel because of the car's origins (ie Germany) and the efforts being made back then to reduce weight for improved...

The models that could have saved Holden? - including a VF SUV..

I think Holdens problems started once Hanenberger retired. He was the driving force behind the vast array of bodystyle on the basic VT platform and he was strong willed and determined for Holden to succeed as an exporter. His successors were GM lackeys who kissed Detroit's arse and lacked any...

I think we have reached peak stupidity

When you have a good look at everything happening in this country at present, you realise just how greedy and selfish we've become. 'I'm alright Jack" is alive and well. The consequences of our actions, particularly the way they affect others, is of no concern. Those morons who think they need...

Sport, you're new to this site. Every now and then we get threads like this that digress wildly from the original post, sometimes for good reason. If, and I stress IF, this thread isn't a troll, we have a person 70 years of age with a chronic medical history, asking advice on whether to buy a...

I think we have reached peak stupidity

We climbed into bed with China years ago and now, when we should have alternatives to reduce that dependence, we don't know how to get out of that bed. Far too much reliance on China for trade.
  36. Calaber

    What will you buy?

Precisely what I was wondering. 5 strokes should be enough to cause a license to drive being revoked, yet he's tossing up whether to buy a Redline?

    Commodore

I've never understood the hatred for the ZB's appearance. To me, it's quite well styled, perhaps a little generic, but with the number of manufacturers and models available these days, how do you make your car truly distinctive. And, if it had been locally made, would it have been so reviled?

The Last Commodore - ZB 4 Cyl Petrol Turbo

Different approach here. How might the ZB have fared if it had been launched a few years back, as an Insignia, instead of the Malibu? Now, there's a Holden that really flopped. The Insignia would have affected VF sales, but might have fared better against the Camry etc, with VF remaining for...
