Help VY II Vibration on Idle

bloody joke mate, I feel sorry for ya. My VYII SS has this very problem, Holden dealers Sydney wide either swear it's NOT there, or acknowledge it's there but swear it's normal. Another one said it's only normal because it's manual. Another different one said it is crap fuel I'm using (98)...

    Steering Wheel Mounted Controls

Holden dealer in Sydney wanted over $150 to fix my controls (VYII SS) and they aren't even completely broken, just lose the 'down volume' button sometimes. Yeah I'll keep the money thanks. Good news is that yours sounds like a simple fix (wire loose or fuse etc) Just get holden to look at it...

How to RESET VYII Computer (NOT SERVICE REMINDER or ANYTHING to do with mode button)

Rob, thankyou! Great to have a holden techie shed some light! Interesting though, after removing fuses and resetting everything (disconnecting battery) the wobble is definitely less than before. Happy to live with the remaining wobble. Hope the VE never ever wobbles. Out of...

How to RESET VYII Computer (NOT SERVICE REMINDER or ANYTHING to do with mode button)

yeah looking for some more in depth knowledge, someone familiar with the 'reset by removing fuse' technique; and the way the car learns and re learns different setups (fuel/air ratio etc). BMC fuse doesn't exist on the VY, I have only found ECC fuse. I will wait for other comments... :)

How to RESET VYII Computer (NOT SERVICE REMINDER or ANYTHING to do with mode button)

Does anyone know how to reset the computer on a VY II SS (assume same for all VY variants). And I am NOT talking about any mode/set combination. Yes I have searched the site, the forums, and then the VY forum. I want to reset the computer now after doing exhaust mods and allow it to relearn the...

    Ask The Copper

It's just a stronger word with a very similar meaning to audacity; which I called you (well lane splitters) earlier. :whistling audacity–noun, plural -ties. 1. boldness or daring, esp. with confident or arrogant disregard for personal safety, conventional thought, or other restrictions.

Ok I won't be nicer to motorcyclists splitting lanes in Sydney... I'll continue to glare and frown ferociously at them as they drive away. I'm sure they feel disgraced and penitent as I do it.

BRADCAD I see your point about saving me time, pollution etc and I agree. However being 'shafted' wasn't about time, it was about motorcycle (*some) riders clearly breaking the law. What annoyed me is the very attitude you seem to have, which is that you are justified in breaking the law...

    VY Manual Reverse Lock Out

VY SS and VZ SS differences

And you know that the VYII looks better than the VZ. Also only half the VZs have the 6.0L (Series II) which is very close to the current model VE anyway, defeating the purpose of buying a few steps behind the market to save dosh. The VYII can display digital speedo as well, don't listen to...

I don't have a copy to check, but I swear he said "...this VT Commodore...." which it clearly wasn't. Also, this VE/VX Mule is quoted in all holden literature as being a "VX Commodore with VE Suspension"-NOT 'VT platform with VE suspension'. Anyone else-please, but not Skaife. He could have...

    billion dollar baby

Well for a start Skaife walked around a VX (with VE suspension) and called it a VT. A petty insult from me? Don't think so. Anyone even loosely familiar with the commodore should easily spot the VX instantly. I wouldn't bring it up, but they were obviously using Skaife to market the VE...

do v8's really drink that much?

YES! Definitely get a V8 and do those mods you mentioned. I only did cat back but well worth it. Most people on these forums post an improvement in fuel economy after mods. I definitely drink more now because it is too tempting to jab the throttle whenever possible. Wouldn't know if I have an...

do v8's really drink that much?

Do they drink? Yes. Be Gentle. Or generous to Shell. I paid $600 for a twin 2 1/2" dual mandrel free flow sports exhaust to VYII SS. So worth it. Makes your holden sound like a real V8. Also I would hope that for an older model it would be cheaper (but maybe not)

    VE recall

Definitely. Good advice  . I waited for the Series II VY SS, all the workmates driving the Series I. Differences are huge, like the plastic versus aluminium gear knob. Or the metal sports pedals (I think). Lends a totally different feel to the interior. And this is not even...

Why can't Holden smash its competitors?

heck even my VYII outclasses the current ford interior lol. I can't get over how plastic and thin the steering wheel feels in the XR6T and I assume the rest of BA/BF... Maybe someone with more head knowledge on the VE can answer. It's all about new suspension, new chassis, new everything!

Thankyou everyone for great responses-especially HALOEIGHT. I understand now! I really don't see how Ford can manage to still sell XRs though, except to the die hards. With the VE outclassing the BF in so many ways, and the fact that the VE is a starting point for much more future...
