There should be three bolts holding the main section of the airbox down - these will be the colour of your chasis and they are the star pattern. If they are the three you are trying to undo then you don't need to. Just pull the airbox up, it may need a bit of force but it'll work

when you say you got the airbox out do you mean the top half and the bottom half?

Guys - My SV6 only has two hooks in the boot, but you shouldn't have to go buy two more hooks though - if you undo those hooks and pull off the panel (as if you were going to replace one of the tail lights) you will find one additional hook on either side hiding in that space screwed onto the...

Dont have to remove the bolts at all just give it a tug and it'll come out - those bolts only act as a holder for the rubber grommets. Just pull the airbox straight up out of the bay and it should come out

I found the problem :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance: Now I just need to figure out how to fix it :) The bearing wheel that bends the belt back between the A/C and the power steering pump is the cause. Can I repair the bearing myself or with the help of Supercheap Auto or do I need to wait...

when you say use a long shafted screw driver to find the source of the noise - I'm not sure what you mean......

You may be right andyman - i didn't actually run the starter motor I just pulled it apart and it looked good. Maybe the starter circuit is staying engaged while the engine is running? Would the starter not be completely burnt out by now though??

Guys/Gals, Its still there - I removed the starter motor and checked it out - all spring return mechanisms are fine. I had the power steering pump replaced today also. The noise is still there - any other suggestions???? This is really frustrating me...

Grab yourself a 1/2 inch rachet - that will plug directly into the tensioner pulley without a socket and pull the tensioner towards the right side of the car - flick the belt off the alternator and you're in business. No need to undo bolts or anything

its an auto and the two hole mod is the only thing ive done. It happens even when i'm in A/S so not sure whats going on......

never mind just figured it out- found the very handy3/4 inch ratchet hole in the tensioner. the power steering pump bearing is shot - thankyou very much to GTR and vy - you guys have saved me a lot of rooting around. cheers andrew

I just rang my local holden (Booran Mentone) and they tell me that Holden don't make a Power steering pump seal kit for the VZ SV6. Anyone know if there is one or would a VY or VX kit be the same?
