Anyone dissapointed with their W375 Package

Yup, as I usually say "drop a gear and disappear" That said I have had some euro trash take it right up to me on rough windy roads, I guess on bad roads there's just no substitute for 4 contact patches. Lots of people bag our home grown cars as slow, and they probably are, I've driven a few...

Anyone dissapointed with their W375 Package

To be honest LS3 I don't think you'll get the same smack in the face from a cage as you do from a bike. Mikes on the money re: diff gears I reckon, which is why i'll be changing mine at some stage, to make it a bit more amusing to drive. The fastest of my bikes is a zx14r, its cracked a whisker...

    VF SS Storm

Me too! I got one in Prussian Steel, sure looks the goods. I got a damn good deal as I think the dealer was getting desperate to move it now the series 2's are here.

Warning Chime sound far too loud

I'm with you Rob, drives me and the passenger nuts, I want the alerts, just a bit bloody quieter please! I asked Holden but their response was they were not able to modify or disable a safety system......all I got was a withering stare when I suggested they make it a sensible safety...

    Reverse Camera Guide Lines

Just had the ute in for its 1500km checkup, I asked the guys at the dealers if they could do the guidlines update for me. As usual they were more than happy to help out, however for some reason they were unable to download it? The checkup took maybe an hour then they spent the rest of the day...

Gday Toecutta, Had two actually. The first one just broke apart about 50km's down the road from hitting a big hole. The tyre just went flat and when I removed it from the car the rim fell to pieces. Second time was another big hit, I mean real big to the point you knew something was gonna be...

    CAI which one?

Thanks Banjo, I work in the Nyngan - Cobar area during the week and the VF is my daily so what you've said there is pretty relevant, cheers. Glad to know I won't take a step backwards if I fit a CAI that's for sure.

    CAI which one?

Thanks Gren, what's considered a good filter these days? I've got a lot of background on bikes, have tried the K&N several times and never been happy with their performance, are their any better options out there? Cheers

    CAI which one?

Quick question from a Noob. I live in a very dusty environment, so I stick with the standard air filter system, but have always been curious about fitting an otr cai. How well do these systems filter vs the stock system? The question is probably subjective I guess, still I am quite curious. Cheers

Why i got a new ss series 2

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to Holden ownership / addiction! :) I've been a Holden guy all my life, my Dad was a mechanic, owned and worked on the them from the very beginning and owned nothing else, and I guess i'll be owning the last of em. Recently traded my VE SSV, I wanted to do a...

Thanks Sir Les! Yeah I turned the volume to normal, maybe I'm just being oversensitive eh? :) I'll get used to it. Thanks for the tip about the window also, i'll check that out. I found the thread about the software update and I'm wading through it now. The horn tooting thing scared the cr@p...

    Annoying **** with VF

VF series 1 SS Storm ute - probably been mentioned before but the damn interior alarms are driving me nuts! Bong, bong, bong seriously? Drivers side window is auto up and down, you can't stop it mid way like my old VE's. No guide lines of the rear camera, my wifes Corolla has em and I find them...

L98 lifter/cam failure ss-v 6sp auto wagon - Whats the best bang for buck fix?

Yup, L98's what you have there. I had a L76 in my 2010 wagon which had to be replaced by Holden after only 20,000km's due to the AFM lifters failing, you can read about that here https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/afm-l76-lifter-rattle-when-cold-wtf-11.139970 . They eventually replaced...

Possible dumb question - Low fuel warning

Well some interesting comments here! Nitro, the steering started getting a rattle in it, I did the end os the steering rack which were a touch loose, and then found the column bearing issue. No idea why the bearings were so worn out as the car has 120K on it. The dealer thought I used the wheel...

Possible dumb question - Low fuel warning

Possibly they need to recalibrate the dash then, but actually yeah could be the pick up I'd say. Possibly cleared itself a little when the car stopped. I only saw the first warning so I was quite confident I'd make it the last 15km's home. I'm going to through a Jerry of petrol in the back and...

Possible dumb question - Low fuel warning

As I say in the title....this could be a very dumb question, but here goes. I've owned my 2010 SSV wagon from new so 6 years, and run it down to the first low fuel warning all the time. I have a thing about trying to keep as much muck out of the tank as I can living out in the bush you never...

    Knocking in steering rack?

Another update, the new steering column has been fitted up and once again I have perfect steering. No rattles. Took the dealer just over three hours to replace it if that helps anyone. Cheers OD

    Knocking in steering rack?

A bit of an update guys. I fitted the rack ends which was a surprisingly easy job to do. Then took it for a drive and the clunk, while reduced, was still there :( Put it up on the hoist at the local Holden dealer and had a look and eventually isolated the problem to the upper steering column...

    Knocking in steering rack?

...we have a winner! The knocking is coming from inside those rack boots, more so on the left hand one but feels like both are doing it. I can see how they are replaced so will get a pair and replace them asap. Thanks for your help VC, much appreciated!:spot on:

    Knocking in steering rack?

Gothic...30mm are you sure? That seems like a lot to me, especially from a car that steered so directly from new. Nitro I checked the strut tops last night and they seem to be fine eg no moving around when I move the steering and they seem solid in their mounts, VC...you may be onto something...

    Knocking in steering rack?

Gday everyone, I've done a bit of a search and haven't found anything quite like what I have happening. This is happening on my 2010 VE SSV sportwagon. Its done duty as the family car for the last 5 years and I've rarely driven it. I've taken it over as my work car and the first thing I...

Suspension knock only when warm.. I'm stumped

A couple of questions spring to mind, did it make this noise before you replaced the sway bar bushes and uplinks? You say it makes the noise when you're slowing down, are you still using the brakes when it clunks? Just wondering if it might be something in the brakes rather than suspension...

SSV G8 Special Edition Build Numbers

Yup there was the initial 2009 run of 1500 cars, these were in Blue, Black and Red and it was a $1000 option (from memory) In Feb 2010 GM decided to make all SSV's with a G8 nose etc for the Feb build as I mention in the link below. Because of the limited February run there are a number of...

OD's new Poison Ivy G8 SSV Sportwagon

Just reviving another old thread! Five years on and the mighty SSV is due for retirement. AFM L76 lifter rattle when cold WTF?

Well I'm quite surprised to see this thread still has some legs. I haven't posted here or on the forum at all for a while as life sorta got in the way. However I still have the SSV, which has proved a good car after all the grief early on. It's got 140,000 km's on it now and the new engine has...

VE 6.0L AFM Lifter / Valve train issues?

G'day Toey, Mate I just realised I havn't updated my account, I'm down in Mudgee these days working in the col. You're right ya know, never would have thought it but the roads around Cobar are much better than the ones around here! I drive out to Ulan every day and you would not believe the...

Suggestions on improving SSV ride to very rough roads

Suggestions on improving SSV ride to very rough roads

Howdy all, need a little help from the wheels and suspension guru's. I have a '10 model SSV and where i live i gotta say the roads are total crap. So far i've replaced 3 of the standard 19 inch stockies due to cracking from hitting some pretty serious potholes. Always the same drama, unable to...

    6 Litre rattler/piston slapper !

Bloody hell another one! Charger I'm sorry to hear of your woes. I think we orked it out that late 2010 build L76 and the new L77 had an improved lifter design fitted and so far there doesn't seem to be too many issues. As you can see in that thread of mine, after a long battle I had the engine...

    afm ve ss complaints

Yup, I gotta say Mitch that on switching off the AFM i totally agree with you. I'm not doing anything like that until the warranty runs out though, and wouldn't have had it at all only the V8 auto comes with AFM in my model. I've been told that if you get just a good dyno tune done with the AFM...

AFM L76 lifter rattle when cold WTF?

Mitch, did you even listen to the video's that we've posted up? If you listen closely you'll hear not the noise of a piston slap but lifters rattling. It's not exactly a cold start knock either as after a while it will do it regularly even after only an hour of engine shut down. If you feel up...
