Have you had any bites mate? I was serious about my interest in the car, would have to sell mine first to buy it though :)

    [Ecotec] Engine Rebuild

I was told the balancing shaft is their purely for a 3rd harmonic vibration between 1500 - 1600 rpm from memory. This is the sort of vibration that would probably only upset the little old lady who just bought the new car. realistically I have been told even this vibration is minimal at best, a...

    Supercharger Kit Choice???

An L67 is a good conversion, a few things to consider.... different fuel pump, regulator, coil packs, ECU, etc. Nothing wrong with going this way just remember the weaknesses won't be the motor but if you can't get enough fuel or spark to it then bad. 179kw at the motor so more like 130 - 140...

I agree, Top work Iblown, I have been following this thread with keen interest :)

    Turbo or supercharger ?

I like both turbo and SC. The SC turns heads and has great street manners. Turbo is more powerful overall.
  12. radarak47

Easiest way to get 0-100kms in less the 6 seconds??

I went twin 2.5 (high flow cats, twin rear pipes) with 1 3/4" Pacies. This combo has been great with no restrictions and better next to no drone.

    DIY super charge?

The raptor kit is pretty easy, a couple of ladies on another forum with no hands on experience were able to install them without too many issues.
  14. radarak47

    Raptor Alloytec Buildup

From what I have been told the VZ can get the displacement on demand enabled. (this was relating to the L76 and L98 though.

    Raptor blown VX RAP-20R

Yes I did run the mod tune prior to the charger being bolted on. The difference was noticable because I believe it was able to better use the higer octane 98' ron fuel. Mid range and top end had noticable improvement in accelaration.
  16. radarak47

    Raptor blown VX RAP-20R

After quite a bit of stuffing around the car is now back on the road and running like new :D Here is the culprit for all the issues, prior to me owning this motor some flip/s decided to fix a bearing and used too much silicon (as well as 2 sump gaskets) to reseal the bottom end. A warning to...

    various types of supercharges

Very nice description there mate. No arguments about the lower torque of the PD style :)
  18. radarak47

    My vz v6 ute

Cheap way of getting more cooler airflow through the CAI box.
  19. radarak47

    Supercharging VR.

CAPA and Raptor are happy to say that because it is peak boost at peak RPM. a 10PSI kit is really only pushing 4PSI into the motor at 3000rpm. An L67 is a great motor because it is already built to handle the boost from its M90 PD blower.

What can be done to a VX?

yup but if you are a P plater it is a good start for when you can legally go FI. If you are ot happy with what you can do now, save your money up for a fast ride once you are off your P's.
  21. radarak47

Super charger kits for 3.8 v6's

yup can agree with the box issue, I have the raptor and the auto definately needs some work done to take advantage of the power these chargers DO put out. 14.4 @ 96mph stock motor with non intercooled raptor. Stock box hits limiter every change under WOT. 1.2 seconds faster than same motor NA
  22. radarak47

    Power Steering???

I guess the removal of the power steering pump would be the easy part, you would just need to find a shorter belt and block off the hydhrolic hoses or place a piece of pipe to make a closed loop. I don't know if you can buy a steering box with a lower ratio as that is what you would need to make...

    253 idea

I agree, the sound of a V8 at full song is awsome.

What can be done to a VX?

high ratio roller rockers, intake CAI, exhaust, tune.
  25. radarak47

    Raptor blown VX RAP-20R

small update, Oil pressure is good in the motor but I am now pretty certain it is a stuffed lifter. The tapping is only coming from one part of the valvetrain. It is not evident until you give the car a little bit of what for then it will tap at about 100+ km/h. As soon as you get below that...

    valiant charger;)

Love the chargers mate, My uncle had an original E38 R/T bathhurst special. He always tells the story of how the thing wouldn't pull up when he first got it. A call to the Valiant rep reveilled his didn't get fitted with the big brakes so they sent him the complete brake system....even the full...

    super chargers $$$price

well for the price you get the charger, belt, bracket, larger injectors, piping, pod filter, air cooler and tubing and last but not least you get a retuned or replacement ECU that is tuned to optimise this setup. I don't know about you but I priced a few different setups before this one (turbo...

I'm The Same as Armyrhino. im new here too :D

If you are lucky you can find some good deals. Did the front rotors on mine to DBA slotted and got Bendix ultimate pads for $150.00 all up. Find a place that does the cop cars, they run for only 2000kms with the rotors and brakes then change everything.

    Budget kings Turbo plan

In real terms a bloke with know how will always be able to do a really cheap setup but they always forget to mention the time it took or the mistakes they made or the second hand part that was a piece of shyte or all of the previous research and development to be able to do it again without the...

Buick and Ecotec V6 Performance Upgrades

not sure on fuel economy unless it has something to do with the ECU being able to adjust the timing etc a bit better with the cooler denser air intake. the cooler air intake is the real advantage for more power (if only a slight improvement).
  36. radarak47

    V6 supercharged

Raptorsc, you might need to get the auto tune from Chiptorque as well (if time permits). Would be good to see a back to back comparison down the same road or 1/4 mile.

    Raptor blown VX RAP-20R

To be totally honest I was set on going with the Yella Terra 1.95 RR's and their 110lbs valve springs but I am just as happy to give the MACE product a go. as it more cost effective. I really am not one to worry about a motor blowing up as they are cheap as chips, I would like to give the MACE...

    Raptor blown VX RAP-20R

Bit of an update, The ride is now officially into stage 2 of the rebuild. Woohoo! First up is a freshen up with high ratio roller rockers, valve springs, pushrods, lifters and I am doing the oil pump for good measure. Next is the Raptor intercooler kit with the purchase of the smaller pulley...

Modding my NEW VY, V6, - NEED SERIOUS IDEA HELP

Here's what you do, Buy a fake moustache, join a respected car club and only do charity runs, don't wear your P's, never drive at night. transpant the V8 into your current ride, add a Gen 1000 turbo (good for around 400rwkw). Oh and keep a good solicitor on standby.

Modding my NEW VY, V6, - NEED SERIOUS IDEA HELP

I agree with Duk13y, being positive it will give you time to get dollars together and plan your ultimate project. For us oldies we just spent money willy nilly on mods then wished we had saved up some real moola to do the car of our dreams. :) Seriously though the V6's are fun but if you are...
