    o2 sensor question

Hi guys, is it possible to replace the 4 wire o2 sensors with 2wire sensors that I have lying around? I'm asking as I have 2 brand new 2 wire sensors from a previous car on the shelf and I'm a tight ass. I'm hoping the connections are the same, but moreso, I'm hoping that the lack of load...

Hi greenfoam, been a while, I see you've got a different ride now, roughly what would a 9 flat 1/8th mile pass equate to for a 1/4? I have to apologise to Taner as the car has now been sold, sorry guys first in best dressed.

    Quickest V6 - again

Nah you didn't bother me, I just thought you were trying to give me flack, I too agree that just because a car is newer and has a higher peak horsepower rating doesn't mean that it is quicker than it's predecessor. A VN S1 V6 that has been worn in correctly and kept in tiptop nick will beat...

    Quickest V6 - again

You don't even notice that this is one of the discrepancies I was pointing out? Don't you think that if this was the "official" holden tested specs that they would have a record of the manual trannys times? Why would the "official" holden specs mention a ZF group A 6 speed with no other...

    Quickest V6 - again

That stuff is posted up all over the net and has been for a long time, on sites like this: http://www.southgate.com.au/history.htm it is a good guide but does have some discrepancies. I'm not sure how true it's origins are as actual road tests done by car mags in the day did differ from...

    LS1 Block

For starters that means that you were talking outa your rear, and secondly that price is not confirmed just info from an engine builder. Just did a quick search and his price was correct and that is a "public retail" price, here is what I found http://www.suburbanimports.com.au/motors.htm...

    Dash Clusters

I put a berlina triple cluster into mine too, that was over 2 years ago, my airbag light has been on ever since but I still get top gear. I thought that all it needed was a Tech2 reconfiguration done.

    V6 engine length and weight

Rollaboy, keep in mind that the 3.8 V6s are probably quite a bit over the 200kg mark once it has all the accessories attatched and full of fluids. Maybe nothing a set of stiff front springs and some high damping rates can't fix, but I dunno. But stranger things have been done before, like...

    V6 engine length and weight

I think you may have been measuring an ecotec engine as the VR motors don't have a "plenum box", also the dimensions are the same as the ecotecs I have on the floor.
  28. T

    V6 engine length and weight

Hey Dunstan, I just couldn't be bothered going out to the shed, then finding a measuring tape, then using it, gee it would have been all a bit too much, lol. But the ecotecs are a little taller than the earlier girls, cause of their revised intake plenum, maybe up to a 100mm difference...

    Converting Manual Windows To Power

The timer just gives you a couple of minutes of power window control after you turn the ignition off so you can adjust your windows. Electric lifes number is probably floating around in a thread on here somewhere, or you'll find them on yellowpages.com.au

    Help on engine

I thought the aircon units were the same also? not sure By the way, what code is on the sticker of the auto box eg. 8HBD or 1HBD, as the first number tells you what year the tranny was made 8=1998, 1=2001 and so forth, just one way to tell what year stuff you have.

    Ss

I was under the impression SS was super sports which makes a little sence since there is just plain S commys, meaning sports while if it were Sports Saloon, what does that make the S commys you can't say that they are not a saloon?

    Converting Manual Windows To Power

No not VY specific. GMH make three or four different BCM's for each model, have done for a while, my smash repair mate seems to think it's done to stop people buying an exec and easily speccing it up to say a berlina standard, as opposed to a money saving exercise. You don't need a BCM to...

    Converting Manual Windows To Power

You don't need to change your BCM for a power windows installation, or change any looms, but you may have to run some new cabling. Electric Life in melbourne do the install with all new gear for around $1100. Or you could buy the gear from them, or get it second hand from a wrecker, and do it...

Alloytec V6 as smooth as Japanese V6's ?

That's not good news, well I suppose there are worse things in life though. Mate anything on gas is good at the moment, I've been driving my old ex-telstra van on LPG around for work lately because of the phenomenal fuel prices. Nah mate, the new 175 alloytec can't hold a candle to the old...

    Auto Glitch

That info is a bit out of whack don't you think rob? You have a table of WOT shifts showing but from what car? The 2nd to 3rd shift is quoted to happen at 5500rpm in normal and hot, and 5800rpm in performance (I can only assume this is when the power button is pressed?), but in all 3 speed...

    Auto Glitch

It is normal for it to change into 2nd while in 1st if revs get high enough to try and protect the drivetrain a little, but the 2nd to 3rd shift while stuck in second is a little sus, from factory they do hit the limiter in second without shifting to 3rd hmmm.

SV8 - it loves to rev (apparently)

GenIII engines are a lot healthier if you give them a bit of a hard time while wearing them in. One of the main reasons for the oil burning issues is because the rings never got to bed in enough during the running in phase due to the owners babying them too much. This was never a real issue...

Alloytec V6 as smooth as Japanese V6's ?

Hi Muso aka "piano man", how've you been? did you get that wagon you were after? I think I'm gonna get rid of my wagon and get something a little newer for work as at 350,000kays it's starting to show signs of wear and tear, the drivers door handle just broke again and the glove box dropped out...
