    Help Vy stereo

Does the unit display "voice in" when it mutes, or does the sound just stop? No other issues with the car? Never heard of it before in a VY/VZ, could possibly be a faulty head unit if its still the factory one.

    A Few VY Questions

Its quite possible the previous owner had never changed the factory stereo, and just tapped into the factory speaker wires for the signal for the sub amp. Youre best to follow the RCA cables that are plugged into the amp and see where they go. Is the amp turning on? there should be a power LED...

VY Blaupunkt audio message "VOICE IN" displayed

The phone kit would have been wired into the system via a dedicated plug located on the passenger side of the centre console. You can access this wiring by removing the glovebox and taking out the two phillips head screws holding the centre console "side plate" in. Pull this panel down and you...

Thanks, does 155s at 32-36hz. We are planning on adding another 4 105ah batteries as voltage drop is starting to be an issue. We're hoping for 156s at 32hz but 155s is fine for now ;) Here's a quick hairtrick video:

VE S1 Clubsport, reversing camera integration with aftermarket Alpine unit?

Alrighty, got the OEM camera working :yeah: The camera still gets power without the stock stereo, so all that is required is a short "patch" loom from the 18 pin plug to the reverse camera input on the Alpine unit. I found that in the 18 pin plug (located above main 40 pin connector) has the...

VE S1 Clubsport, reversing camera integration with aftermarket Alpine unit?

Yeah thanks, sounds like a plan. Ive integrated most Toyota models with reversing cameras, even though they say they're 5v, i've plugged 12v into them and havent any dramas. Will post back any findings......its not something your gonna come across often but it'll be good to have the info here...

VE S1 Clubsport, reversing camera integration with aftermarket Alpine unit?

Hey mate, im the same as you.....pop in every now and then. hahaha Thanks heaps for that "dealer option" plug wiring! Atleast i know reverse power is there......it would be great to get another Clubsport or optioned VE and probe the wiring. I just dont want to have to install a new camera :)

VE S1 Clubsport, reversing camera integration with aftermarket Alpine unit?

Hi Guys, not sure whether this should go in the VE section or in here..... I have replaced the OEM stereo in a series 1 Clubsport with the Alpine 8" version. Im sure you've all seen the pics etc. My question is related to the OEM camera wiring, i am trying to integrate the camera with the...

VR V6 died and wont start??

VR V6 died and wont start??

OK 3 things......it better not be fuel hako, i tell you now ;) Be back in 10-15min.

VR V6 died and wont start??

Hmm, i can hear the fuel pump priming when i turn the ignition on, and it stays on for a shorter amount of time if i turn the ignition ON/OFF several times, so im thinking its building up fuel pressure like it should? Alrighty, two things to try.....bash fuel tank and pour water on CAS ;)

VR V6 died and wont start??

Thanks hako... There's the catch (fuel). When i pulled up the warning buzzer sounded for low fuel (just above the bottom line), so naturally i thought low fuel as its not started before and low fuel has been the culprit. The first thing i did was get 5L from the local servo, nope. Sorry didnt...

VR V6 died and wont start??

Hey guys, Driving home from work i pulled over for a minute or two and when i started her back up she coughed and spluttered, nearly stalling when touched the accelerator pedal.....it gets about 200m down the road and dies. Nothing, it has fired for a second a few times but thats it. I have...

    my ultra specific advice thread.

Firstly thanks for providing that info, saves alot of questions down the track. Although i do have one ;) The front speakers, are you willing to modify the front door interiors and buy / install some 6" component speakers? With you're budget, its probably better to go with a quality single 12"...

    VX Stereo

OK 1. You mount the cradle for the head-unit in the upper half of the cavity, most people are content with just jamming it in there (it a very tight fit at the best of times) and then using a snap in pocket for underneath. But to do it properly yes you should pop rivet the cradle in on each...

    3900 watts rms

Not bad subs at all TBH, heard a pair of 15s off around 4,000wrms recently and sounded clean and tight, especially for a ported box. Why not go with the Dual 2 ohm version and buy a nice big 2000wrms @ 1 ohm monoblock, build a strong box and you should be happy ;)

    Vt electrical antenna

You will need to remove the CD player (do a search for how to - been covered many times). Once youve got the unit out if you dont have the code do not unplug it, otherwise its a trip to Holden and about $50. The wire that controls the antenna is yellow with a red stripe, if you cut that wire...

    VE Berlina Audio Distortion

Yes you will need a "stubby" screwdriver to undo those screws. Because the centre speaker is a weak point in the system, its the first thing to distort.....disconnecting it will give you more volume before the distortion becomes audible.

    Stereo For My VT

Nah he's talking about the upper section of the parcel shelf, the carpeted piece. You will need to cut the holes out and buy / fit some grilles. Yes Dayvo is right theres a groove outlining where to cut, your better of cutting just on the inside of this groove.....its always easier to take a...

2 boxes or 1 big one?

Yes you will need to take the port wall thickness into consideration......most online calculators do this anyway.
  30. holdenboy

2 boxes or 1 big one?

If you are going to slot port it, just use 18mm......it also acts like a brace too so its not overkill.

    Stereo For My VT

You can spend 4 hours playing around with angles etc, or just spend 10 min and put them up in the stock spots....... :hiding: LOL @ HCVP

building a pair of boxes, what thickness of mdf?

Yep 16mm for those sized boxes as a minimum...you can get 18mm fairly easily so might as well go with that anyway. My old box (32mm / 48mm baffle), with about 10L of resin weighed a ridiculous amount.....atleast is was a free 2" lowering job everytime i put it in the car ;)

    Stereo For My VT

somefool, as the title states "stereo for my VT", the VT onwards models have 6" x 9" holes pre-cut from the factory with metal pieces tack welded in place. All thats needed is to remove the parcel shelf and the metal pieces, then screw your 6x9s in place. You will need to buy some grilles...

New stereo for the old girl..

I can chime in on a few things HCVP hasnt covered. I personally dont like the JVC units because they are hard to control, station presets which are normally buttons along the bottom of the unit are replaced by a menu system. I believe to change preset radio stations you need to push the volume...

    Speaker Size

As the VR-VZ uses 3 screws arranged in a triangular shape you will firstly need a speaker that has alot of different mounting holes....forget the cheap ones as they dont have those mounting holes. The old Kevlar series 6" splits fitted in those pods perfectly, but i dont think you'll find them...
