Follow up. Called out the mobile AC guy. Removed the gas, installed a new O ring, refitted, vacuumed the system, refilled with new Gas. No more leaks. The AC guy was surprised the valve housing was removable since most require a entire line replacement these days.

If you're hearing a click and you have a new battery most likely the starter motor. Give it a few love taps with a hammer and try again.

No worries. Series 2 VX has the twist setting like you said. It may be the stalk switch twist thats failed. Or the module under the bonnet. Thats about the only 2 things to go wrong excluding a wiring issue.
