    Cold start noise

So after research, it seems to be quite a wide spread issue on a cold start after sitting for a decent 24 hours. it’s mentioned that it’s possibly the following. Chains, Tensioners, Guides, Oil pump, Camshafts actuators, Oil pickup o ring, Incorrect oil grade and dirty filter. After having the...

    Cold start noise

I over service it. 5w-30 Nulon dexos fully synthetic as stated in user manual. done every 7500km or 6 months. New filter every time. Service guys noted no sludge etc when they had it all apart and were impressed how clean it was. I have just changed it again since they were just in there doing...

    Cold start noise

Did not rev it. That’s how it starts from cold. I always let the idle drop down to its normal rate after about 30 seconds before setting off. It only makes that sound very first thing after sitting for overnight.

    Cold start noise

Hi there. My VE has had this cold startup sound for quite sometime, always assumed it was the chains. Now I had the chains replaced as they finally were out of spec, it still makes the sound but not as bad as it was. Is this just a common cold start sound from them ? It’s fine when it’s started...

    Coolant problems?

My VX did the same thing. But not my VY. I replaced the cap, same thing always down a little and the over flow up a little more after every top up. Changed coolant 2 years later, bled the system, same thing. 2 years passed, Installed a new cap as old one was 4 years old, I like to replace these...

VE AC leak high pressure side

Follow up. Called out the mobile AC guy. Removed the gas, installed a new O ring, refitted, vacuumed the system, refilled with new Gas. No more leaks. The AC guy was surprised the valve housing was removable since most require a entire line replacement these days.

Thanks mate, though it looked like it was able to unscrew. Hopefully my mobile AC guy has parts for easy replacement.

    Car refusing to switch on

If you're hearing a click and you have a new battery most likely the starter motor. Give it a few love taps with a hammer and try again.

VE AC leak high pressure side

hi guys. My 2012 VE had the AC topped up 2 weeks ago due to being a little low on gas as it was hissing every few seconds, Had it topped up with Die added to help find leaks. Only had the car 6 weeks now and it was hissing from day 1, and slowly got worse. So I found the leak, it's the high...

    VE II Equipe

Ok, so if anyone comes along here's the answers as in the service booklet. Transmission service is at 150k. Unless excessive start stop driving as in taxi or delivery service, service every 75k Spark plugs at 120k Power steering fluid replaced only every 60k if towing or under heavy loads etc...

    VE II Equipe

It's definitely an interesting topic on the oil for the transmissions, well to me anyway. Mines been changed twice in my VY. At 110k and 220k as recommended by the manual, And it's just rolled onto 307k and still shifting fine. Where as my mechanic has changed transmissions with 60k on them...

    VE II Equipe

It's been given a 9/10 trade in score by a prestige dealer, minus 2 tiny door dints from car parks. Does anyone have a photo of the 105k service list from their book they could post up ? Just trying to gain what information I can, would be appreciated. From what I understand the 6L50 trans...

    VE II Equipe

It's a Gold Coast/Brisbane car. Just the standard servicing done by the book. I'll definitely be doing the 5000km/6 month option to avoid any more possible sludge up in the engine. I don't mind spending to have everything done if I'm not sure, the price I'm getting it for and spend another 1k...

    VE II Equipe

Hi All. An opportunity has come up for me to purchase a Equipe at a good price, has just on 100k. Knowing the ecotecs inside out, I know very little on the SIDI 3L engines. So, what is required at the 105k service ? Plugs ? Coolant ? Etc. sorry I don't have the service book at the moment...

    VX Running Rough & Missing

I see you replaced the leads, but have you changed all the spark plugs ? For the price just replace all 6 to be sure. After that, pull off the throttle body, remove the IAC and give it all a good clean with throttle body cleaner. Also get some MAF cleaner and clean the MAF. Failing that, id be...

    VU key

They don't slide out. The battery tabs are spot welded on. So you need as mentioned the batteries with tabs already on it. Soldering a 2032 battery requires flux plus a very hot soldering iron for it to take hold. A standard iron won't work and the solder just beads up. You can try heating the...

Vt Commodore how to install the TPS throttle position sensor

Ive just unscrewed the tps, get new one, line up the slot, then rotate the tps until the screws line up again, its spring loaded so needs to rotate a bit to line up. Start up and off i went. Didn't change a thing or set anything. It will explain itself when you undo the screws and remove it.

    HOLDEN VU UTE NEED HELP!

Right ok, so the noise wasn't present before the replacement ? I thought it was reppaced due to the squeaking. I'd go back to who did it, it may be a dud bearing out if the box or damaged when it was pressed in.

    HOLDEN VU UTE NEED HELP!

Have you replaced the pads and rotors ? They may have plenty of meat left but if either have a lip its enough to cause a squeek. Some brakes are just noisy, my rear brakes squeel when braking, I've done everything possible except replacing the pads and rotors. They are bendix pads too. Check...

    Fraudulent use of visa card

I've had a new credit card used over seas before I actually got it in the mail some years ago. Best solution is to make sure you have over seas payments locked . Even get a wallet that has shielded lining to prevent the card being read while out and about. If you use a card online for payments...

    Just bought a VY

You definitely have to get that checked out. A mechanic can check the codes and let you know what the issue is. No doubt thats why it was a cheap car.

    Just bought a VY

Yes really that easy. Powershift just holds the gears longer and uses more fuel. Ideally used for towing or a heavy load in the car. Have a read through the owners manual if you have one to get to learn the car and weekly checks that should be done to prolong the life of the car.

Could be. Not hearing it or being there makes it difficult. Could be just a built up of dirt or require new pads or discs.

    2004 vy, v6, Commodore.

Sounds like the float in the tank and reader especially since it changes with brakes are applied. My VY does this if the tank is brimmed. And yes its fine to drive, just annoying with the beeping alerts and error message. So long as I don't brim the tank its never an issue. But you will be up...

    Gardening / Landscaping

You need at least 15% for a bank/broker to take you seriously. We tried the 5% approch before, and they want you to have at least 80k a year income and that was with my mother being a guarantor. It all depends on your circumstances. We got away with only 14% due to being a smaller loan. And the...

Excellent point on the interest rates. This is why I was firm with locking in at current rates for 3 years. I absolutely hate the unknown feeling and having to worry about if rates were to rise. We could survive with up to around a 8 % interest rate, but much more than that I would hate to...

I might add to this too. The mrs and I have our deposit, and pre approved from the bank. So we went and looked at some houses suited to our price range. And the properties that were the "good" ones needed another 30k spent to get them up to scratch again, such as fencing, trees, kitchens...

    Under car cleaning

Hand held steam cleaners don't work well, tried it before in a engine bay, waste of time. Probably best, soak everything in degreaser, and buy a pressure washer with the under car washer attachment. Its only for under the car so it doesn't have to be perfect, just remove all the grime so the...

No worries. Series 2 VX has the twist setting like you said. It may be the stalk switch twist thats failed. Or the module under the bonnet. Thats about the only 2 things to go wrong excluding a wiring issue.
