    VK-VZ Stereo wiring colours.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't have a yellow and red wire though :( I have a yellow (switched live), yellow with black stripe, yellow with blue, brown. The rest are speakers, permanent live (orange and brown) and earth wires. Which of the above do you think it could be? I may do...

    VK-VZ Stereo wiring colours.

My question is similar to above, I have no blue or white wires for the ariel. Is there a way of having it so when I turn on the ignition the ariel goes up and when I turn it off it goes down? Using the switched live maybe? Looking into the wing, the wires coming from the antenna are red and...

M7 and M5 point to point speed cameras

I've just been forwarded an email apparently origianally from someone from the RTA saying that point to point speed cameras are now opperational on the M5 and M7. Has anyone else had this email or know anything about it? It wouldn't suprise me if they had. :-(

    Mini

If you put a fibreglass front end on and convert it to RWD, your imagination and engineering skills are your limit. If you go for an engine that's too heavy, like any small car, you'll upset the weight distribution and it'll handle like crap. Motorbike engined Mini's are pretty popular. Join...

    Mini

any of the pre-BMW are good. They're cheap and easy to repair and are easy to make look good, de-seam it, a set of 13'' minilites and chrome bumpers and you're there. If you're going the whole hog, there's a load of engine conversions possible. V-tec rear engine is my favourite. :-D I'm...

    Diesel Commodores

Why would they refine it differently? Cost cutting? Fuel here is about half the price of UK fuel, maybe that's one of the reasons:- cheaper refining process. Tax on fuel isn't as high here either. Maybe if they refined the oil to a similar quality as Europe, the price would sky rocket...

    Handbrake question

sorry, I'll make myself clearer. I'm not sure how the VU handbrake works. I know how discs and drums work but wasn't sure how holden had their setup. Some manufacturers have a disc and drum setup, where the disc works with the footbrake and the drum only is used for the handbrake. I wondered...

    Diesel Commodores

Why would diesel be worse here than Europe? Companies like BP, Mobil, etc are worldwide, surely they would use the same refineing process here as over there?

    hsv vu maloo sII

You say you're using it as a work horse, what job do you do? I'm a chippy and use mine for work but it's not very practicle with the hard top on. Plus, if it's lowered, you can't carry much weight. They look great though. :-D

    hsv vu maloo sII

I've got an VUII SS manual and it's been reliable for the last 18 months that I've had it. I had a leak on the diff where the prop shaft goes in but other than that it's been good. The gearbox whines more than any manual I've ever driven, especially in 2nd and 4th, but all the ones I test drove...

    Handbrake question

Mine only works on one wheel. Can I adjust something on the one that dosen't work or do you recon something needs replacing? To be honest I don't even know how they work, is there a drum behind the disc?

    Car insurance for modified cars

That sounds about right for a 20 year old. Do you have any No Claims Bonus? Try Ecar insurance, they where cheap for me last year but this year GIO where cheapest.

    Diesel Commodores

Since moving to Australia from England two years ago, I'm still suprised at the lack of diesel cars on the road here. I suppose it's because petrol is still cheap compared to Europe. A couple of diesel varients is just what the Commodore range needs. A lower powered TD for the Omega sedan and...

    SAPOL'S new technology

They had all that back when I was in England. It works well and deffinatley helps keep uninsured, no rego'd and unlicensed drivers off the road. The only time it caused me grief was when my insurance didn't register my new insurance policy on the police database. Luckily it was in office hours...

    sydney airport

Get your $7 dollars ready and park up. Unless your Mrs is waiting you WILL get moved on. Don't think about going round to the departures and waiting there as they'll hit you with a massive fine if they catch you. It's a load of crap, they've made it virtually impossible to to pick someone...

    Loan

That's the bit that worries me, it's not the best climate to be starting a new business in. Anyway, if you can afford the loan and the running costs, go for it. Just make sure you pick a good one because parts and labour isn't cheap. The VY's are now getting to an age where things need...

    The world has gone orange!

I've not long been awake and getting ready for work. I took a look outside and the sky is orange and there's a wierd smell in the air. Is it the end of the world or just dust being blown from inland? I'll try and get a photo up now....... here you go

I've got the monroe gt's, kings SL's and 18's on mine and the ride is hard but not unbearable. My bushes are all originals but I've got poly bushes coming in the post, I'll let you know how it is after I fit them. Edit:- just realised how old this thread is! Doh!

ACA - Speed Humps Wrecking Your Car...

Transcalm/Dunlop developed an inflatable speedramp years ago and it's bee succesfully trialled in London. Newspaper Report Transcalm webpage Interesting idea, especially the idea that they deflate for ambulances. I don't think they'll catch on though because of the price. :(

    Old cars were more fun

it's a bit biased asking this on a car enthusiast forum. Go down your local Coles (other supermarkets are available) and ask "do you agree with all the computer saftey devices and warnings on your car?" and the answer will be "yes" from 95% of the people. Car makers realise this and therefore...

    Are Extractors Worth It?

I've got pacemakers, high flow cats and twin exhausts on mine. Coupled with a pod filter it sounds awesome. As for power, there's a small increase :- it was rr'd at 200rwkw. Mafless tune is next for me, just need to persuade the fiance that it''s money well spent!
