    New speakers worse than stock?

I give up. You have no interest in changing your mind. You're too busy trying to win the argument to worry about whether you're right or not.

    New speakers worse than stock?

I don't give a **** what you like or don't like, if you're gonna give somebody advice you need to be objective instead of just offering your uninformed opinion. As far as my music goes, anything sounds good when it's being produced by Dynaudio drivers. Home audio drivers are made to be used in...

    New speakers worse than stock?

Powerplant IS a midrange product that isn't woeful. And if the market didn't demand stuff that sounds terrible the Encounter range wouldn't exist. Neither would Alpines low end ranges, neither would Pioneers low end ranges, neither would Clarion's low end ranges and Audioline wouldn't exist at...

    New speakers worse than stock?

They make what the market demands, shiny crap that sounds terrible. They also recognise that there is a market for higher end gear and make that too. I don't expect people to think well of Fusion because they make a few good things, but I do expect people who claim they know what they're talking...

    New speakers worse than stock?

This, a thousand times this. Fusion is not a shitty brand. They have a budget line, which is only as good as all the other manufacturers budget lines. I don't see people **** talking Alpines Type X/Type R gear because the Type E gear is low end trash. If you buy the fancy shiny green Fusion gear...

Subs and amp randomly stopped working??

When you say it doesn't work when you put a CD in, does it work when you have it on radio? A common mistake people make when installing is to use the head units aerial trigger wire instead of amp trigger wire, which does the same thing as the amp trigger wire but only when the head unit is set...

Is this wiring kit any good?

The one you linked isn't cheap. $129 for a 4gauge wiring kit is a bit over the top, especially considering the reputation Audioline have made for themselves. I wouldn't piss on anything with Audioline written on it if it was on fire. You can get a decent quality stinger 4gauge kit from any...

Is this wiring kit any good?

There is a calculator on the site you linked that shows shorter runs of cabling can handle more current while sustaining less voltage drop than the same gauge cable over a longer length. Thank you for rendering your own post pointless. I sustain my argument that 4gauge wiring run the length...

Is this wiring kit any good?

For once people are actually recommending that people go way overboard on wiring rather than the exact opposite. 4awg split into 2 short runs of 8awg will be fine for such a small system, but will leave very little room for future upgrades. Pretty much everything that's been said is true...

    shaving laws in w.a

Old cars came without airbags, doesn't mean you can remove them legally from your brand new VE. Same deal here. Newer cars have to adhere to newer laws.

    VS Caprice Double Din installation

From what I've heard it's possible, but very difficult as the HVAC box is right where the bottom half of a double din HU would go, and it needs to be relocated/modified it you're to have any hope of getting a double DIN unit in.

Infinity 610A Mono - Any Good?

Anyone who pays $1 per 1wRMS is either insane or buying an amp with a good reputation for SQ. I picked up my Eaudio1000D (1,000wRMS@1ohm) for $250. Jaycar 1,000w mono's go for around $200-$300 depending on where you buy.

    Post Your Vh Pics

Can't believe I posted in the thread without putting pics of my old girl up. Picked it up at the start of '09. That's about 6 motnhs after I got it, since then all I've done is add to the stereo and replace the orange indicators with clear VK items. Next on the list is VL side mirrors to...

    Advice Needed!

Push for as much as you can get. You're now inconvenienced, have to spend hours looking for a new car, don't have a suitable vehicle to learn in until it's replaced. The value of the car is a fraction of how badly you've been inconvenienced by the whole affair, which was caused by a driver they...

Pretty sure the standard bumpers are identical, but wagons don't have all the holes required for SLE bumpers. It's relatively simple to add them in, but a bastard to get them perfect.

I think you can put a 173 head on a 202 to increase the compression ratio, which may be what you're after.

What colour should i paint my VK

Can't find any on the net. It looks a little bit like Botanica, a colour available on VS Commodores, but only when it's in the shade. As soon as the car is in the sun you can tell it's not a holden colour. My first car was a VS that was Botanica from the factory and resprayed green mica, looked...

What colour should i paint my VK

Hyundai green mica. Looks ok in the shade, but as soon as the sun hits it it will blow you away. Not too expensive either.

Post your car audio system and pictures

And even if you don't want to spend cash on a distribution block you can do the dodgy with some ring terminals and a bolt, plus some tape to insulate it all. But damn, speaker wire=/=power wire. Bad, bad plan. This is my box. Home made, but will be starting again soon as this one isn't big...

    Beeping noise driving me insane!

Are you sure it's not the car beeping? My old VS exec would beep if I left the handbrake up and started driving. If you've done the dodgy and wired it so the handbrake detection switch is always closed then the car would think the hand brake is on while you're driving and beep like a mofo. If...

    Body damage from other drivers

About 2 weeks after I picked up my VH, it was nearly straight as an arrow, some ******** hit the rear bumper while it was parked. Pushed in the beaver panel and ****ed the rear bumper. About 4 months later some ******** in a high car (probably a soccer mum in a pretend 4WD that's never seen...

    Beginers question

Depends on the impedence of the subs and what the amp is stable to. My E-Audio1000D is 500wrms at 4ohm, 800wRMS at 2ohm and 1000wRMS at 1ohm. If I have a 1 DVC sub at 2 ohm, I can wire it to 500wRMS, if I have 2 DVC sub at 2ohm, I can wire them to 800wRMS.

    what motor will fit?

I understand the reasoning behind the rules, and I support it, even as a P plater. I would just prefer consistency. An SV6 might be safer all round, but if a VB-VH with a 253 is considered too dangerous for a P plater (115KW from memory, maybe 125) how is pretty much any VT or newer Commodore...

[General] HOW TO Remove Sikaflex from Panels

I don't see the big deal. People buy things off the internet all the time. Just get the blokes phone number and address, verify that it all checks out before ordering. If it doesn't work out a quick trip to the cop shop and a few days later you should have your money back.

VC SL Wagon - new budget build starting :-)

Sure that's an SL? It's got all the chrome window surrounds, I thought SL only had top and bottom, not the bits on the front and back of the windows. Beautiful car one way or the other, the car my mum owned when I was little was a VB sedan in that colour. Half the reason I bought the car I...

    what motor will fit?

I've done a bit of research into this myself, and this is what I've found so far: V6 conversion into a first gen can be done legally, BUT, if you are a P plater you will not be allowed to drive it without an exemption as it requires an engineers cert, and anything requiring an engineers cert is...

Ok Guys, Stupid question of the year.

Just don't let them con you into buying an expensive cable. Anything more than $5 is expensive, more than $10 is a ripoff. Hell, it probably cost more to freight the cable from the manufacturer to the store than it did to make the cable itself.

how much ventilation does a computer need?

Water cooling seems to be a fairly dramatic step considering all he really needs to do is ensure a decent amount of air gets into and out of the computer. Before you throw the PC in there never to be moved until you get a new one, open up the left hand side panel (if you're look at the PC...

    Seagate or Western Digital

Out of all the HDDs I've ever had, only 1 failed me and it was a Seagate. Didn't worry me as it was fairly old and IDE, only a 160gb drive so no major loss. Currently have a 750gb WD Green power in my PC and I love how quiet it is compared to others. Once I've got a semi decent PSU my PC will be...

PCI-E2 gfx card in PCI-E motherboard

I got bored with no internet and couldn't play multiplayer a few weeks back, finished World at War on veteran. Not easy, but doable. COD4 is way harder, still only finished it on hardened so far. As you've already found out, PCIE2 cards work fine in PCIE1.1, and should probably work in PCIE 1...

Trying to Fix Problem, Size Earth

What model amps, and is it 1000w RMS or 1000 peak/max/pmpo? If it's RMS you'd want a 4gauge earth each.

    My vk berlina 1984

If it still has 1 of the original tyres at 151,000 then it probably hasn't been taken care of very well, I'd be getting it serviced straight away. Looks nice for it's age though.

    My S-Pack system

As bezz has said, PMPO/peak means nothing. You can't have a 1000wrms peak sub, it's either wRMS or peak. I'm sure you've already picked up on this, just figured I'd post it in greater detail. Very lucky to pick up a car with JB/rockford gear already installed too. Good luck with the install.
