hey, can anyone tell me the height of the VX engine, from the bottom of the sump to the heighest point on the motor (which appears to be the alternator) ? Before i go dropping a VX engine into my old bmw (which currently has a vr v6 in it) i want to make sure theres no clearance issues...

what sort of stuffing around, care to elaborate?

ok took the timing cover off again and compared the two... they look the same. It musnt be sealing properly i guess. There's 2 bolts that i broke... thought i'd get away with it but obviously not. One is the bottom one that holds the CAS... broken flush with the block, can't get it out at...

yeah they lined up... everything was fine. I turned the engine by hand, and also just with the starter, everything sounded fine. I'm wondering if the wrecker i got the timing cover from has given me the wrong one... which may explain why water is going straight into the sump, and perhaps its...

put it back together, started it up and its making a horrible rattling noise. on top of this my sump is full of water. i guess it could be the timing cover leaking. i dunno, i give up. If my engine's not completely rooted, i'll pay someone to fix it i guess

well the torching is on hold just for a minute, i took the timing cover off and the engine turns over fine... so i have no idea now :(

The Car's not running. Okay Delco so i have the hoses the wrong way around? The fuel should go into the fuel rail, and come out the other side at the regulator and back to the tank?

vr, well its actually an E21 bmw with a vr engine/gearbox.

because i can hear the fuel pump straining to pump fuel, and if i turn the key a few times eventually it gives up and stops. and nothing is coming out the other side of the fuel rail, where it should be going into the return line.

hmm fuel goes from the fuel pump, to the fuel pressure regulator, then through your fuel rail and through the return line back to the tank, is that right? Because i have good fuel pressure from the fuel pump, up to where the hose goes into the regulator. After the regulator, nothing.. Or...

well if i pull the fuel line off the regulator and turn the key, fuel pisses out. I pulled the regulator off the fuel rail, connected the fuel line to it and turned the key, and theres a blockage...

I have good fuel pressure up to the point where the fuel line goin into the pressure regulator... at which point there's a complete blockage, and the fuel pump is straining to pump fuel as its 100% blocked. I'm sure it's the pressure regulator as if i take it off, it's fine. What would cause...

Okay, found what i believe is the timing mark on the camshaft. Only problem is, no matter how much i rotate the engine, the 2 marks never line up. They come close, but never line up.. What does this mean and how do i fix it?

i drained a couple of litres of oil in mine, and filled the rest up with kero. Ran it for 5 mins like this, then drained it all out. Filled with some more sump oil and ran for 5 mins again , and drained (to get all the kero out). Then put new oil/filter in

How'd you go with this? I have a VR engine on a VN gearbox, i had to get the melcal reprogrammed too to bypass the immobiliser
