    How did you gain more kw from your 5ltr

    i just put a cam in mine and made a big difference! well worth the effort, unless u bolt a supercharger on it or stroke it it would be the best mod u could do to it. depending on the size of cam u will need a decent exhaust, cai, maybe shave the heads and get a dyno tune to get the best out of it.

    hi i have vs series 3 5L that starts fine when warm but struggles to start when cold in the last week or two. do these motors have temp sensors that would effect cold start ups if buggerd or could it be something else causing it to struggle to start when cold? cheers

    id go the come cam if u want a strip animal the 286 would be a btr street cam in a 355! i would get your vt heads ported u can get sum good hp out of them without costing heaps and they have smaller combustion chambers than vn heads which will help get your comp up abit, id be looking at 10.5-11...

    u will need to shave about 60th off ya heads to get close to 9.5 to 1 comp or 40th and a thin head gasket and thats if u have zero deck height, the ferther down the bores the pistons r at tdc the less comp u will have and u mite have to slot the bolt holes in manifold they genaraly still line up...

    no not if u already have a set of heads u can do up! 400 bucks would be a good start on them! ports are the same the have just been machine for the bigger valves.

    unless u have a big cam and chasing big hp its probly a waiste of money. if its a standard motor with a baby cam just a good valve job and get them machined is all that is needed as 304 heads flow heaps anyway.

    no formula just start with standard gap bout 1mm i think and u can make it a bit more and see what happens. 1mm-1.2mm is pretty goood if u have a realy good ignition u mite get away with 1.5mm.

    the early holleys have a little ball under accellarator pump diaphram thats ment to let fuel in but stop it going out when u pump the throttle. if carby has been sitting for awhile the sometime get a white powder or corrosion which makes them not seat or seal properly! undo the four screws under...

    if they bolt up to ya flex plate and locates in the crank it should b ok! ive herd people using 4cly convertors in 6cly. mite be able to bolt a 4cyl to v8 to give u a bit more stall? either way they wont be as good or efficent as a brand new dominator!

    used to have a set on my 202 years ago! all i can suggest is that make sure all the carbs r open the same amount at idle and the same amount at wot! bit of an art on its own workn out the linkages, make sure they r squiting the same amount of fuel with the accelarator pumps, play with the idle...

    big block chevs r awesome all commodores should of come starndard with them!!! what heads do u have now? if they r oval port with the small combustin chambers mite be worth giving them a bit of porting! the problem with 454 heads they will have bigger combustion chambers and u will loose alot...

    most likely blocked radiator! tend to block up over time and if ever used stop leak block up even quicker

    when pulling pistons out u should always number your rods and end caps in there firing order so that they never get mixed up and u will know what piston went in each cylinder! but if u have messed up the end caps u will have to sort that out first!

    try another 5-10 psi in them not all tyres r the same and c if that makes an inprovement! if your suspension and wheel allignment is a1 and nothing helps u may just have a **** set of tyres!
