I have a VF2 MY16 manufactured in 2015 and this problem has occurred twice in the past week. Also not listed in the affected VIN numbers. It's done about 75,000km. Any thoughts would be welcome. I'm slowly reading the 60 odd pages in this thread O.o

Agreed. If it was no more than a third of the price they could probably sell at least 50-100x more of them.

The same way you locked it:

Put the key inside a metal box or wrap it in foil and hide it in the car. Metal box or foil will prevent the car from detecting it.

Half the kms? There's nothing to think about. Get the SV6. I went from a VE Berlina which I loved to a near new VF2 SV6. Aside from the crappy sound system and the shitty 'climate control', I absolutely love the SV6. Just don't buy a black one. Or any black car. Ever.

What is "CDs"? :-P I had a 5(?) stacker in my VE Berlina and in the 5 years I owned it, the stereo played CDs twice. Once to test a CD and another time because my GF wanted to play one she bought. Playing music from my phone made the CD player seem pointless.

The fuse block is a much better idea and not something I've previously considered when doing things like this. In-line fuses can be a bitch...especially if you have to replace the fuse. The fuse block allows for 'expansion' and flexibility. Also makes testing a lot easier.

My guess is the lining on the lid is because it's made of aluminium and would otherwise be extremely vulnerable to dings from the inside. The rest of the boot is made from steel so it is less of an issue

I don't think anyone is knocking the aircon...or the heater, it's the 'climate control' system that is the problem. It's difficult to set and maintain a comfortable temperature without regular adjustment of the temperature and/or fan. An earlier post said that there is only 1 temperature...

I've just moved from a Series-1 VE Berlina to a VF2 SV6 and I can confirm that the 'climate control' in the VF2 is vastly inferior to the VE Berlina. The functionality is the same but there is no comparison in performance. For the past 5 and a half years I've rarely had to adjust the climate...

I'm not sure if you realise that the question related to a VE and not a VZ. And if you did, you may know that the procedure is the same for these two very different models but we don't. PS The search function brought me here because I have a VE and similar questions ;-)
