Are you sure its stuffed and not just the points inside the alternator? look on the back of it you will see a black box with two screws each side undo them pull it out and you should see to brass contacts when they where out the contacts done touch. The memcal chip is the chip inside the cpu. I think what he means is hell sell you the hole engine control module (cpu)

My kick down is on the other side of the TB with the accel cable and has two nuts holding it in place. Is this normal for vn or has someone played with it?

Re: coils Do you live in qld? Just check to see if the insulators are over the sparkplugs. Check the spark plugs just because they are new does not mean that they are good. And test your leads for resistance they should all be around the same if one is no way near the others its stuffed or...

Yeah i love the vn. Got it off a older bloke it does have some rust but that has been fixed. And has 233 000 k's on the clock.

Thanks guys for your help. The mech told me today to make sure i put a oil breather on the rocker cover if i remove the hose. And as for the kickdown wich end would you adjust it from the top or bottom near the gearbox?

Gotta be carefull with leads if the dont have the insulator for the top of the plugs they dont seem to run right i dont understand why. I had a set of qld 10 mm ignition leads with no insulators and it miss fired sometimes. Holden said to put insulated ones on i should be fine after that...

ok my torque converter is stuffed i just checked their are shavings in the oil so gear box might be stuffed too. Does the torque converter from a vs fit vn? and is the v6 auto a t350 or something else?

My Vn has alot of rust around the rear window rubber. I removed the rear window and cut out the rust and lucky a mate has a wrecked shell so i used the panels of it to replace them and welded in. To have this done does cost abit but stopped the rust.

Im having this trouble too! i sent the vn to my local mechenic and he said its the center breaing its worn out. But i didnt hink the Vn had a center breaing in the tail shaft?

Sorry should explain better find the input wire from the servo on the gearbox that goes to the k's gauge in the cluster while driving use the multi meter to check if their is anytype of voltage while driving. if the multi meter says 0 and does not change then its the servo but on the other hand...

lol 88 GREEN VN your right sorry didnt think off that. With that note you can use a muilti meter and see if there is any voltage while driving.

Re: speedo working but k's not I had the same problem speedo works but no k's i checked the servo pick up in the gear box its fine. Next thing to do was check the dash. Pulled the cluster out and apart and found the gears in the k's where stripped!. Brought a secound hand one and it lasted long...

So one of my side skirts is cracked where would the best place be to get the areo side skirt?

I have a fake vn areo that im doing up only because i love the look of them and do they come out in both v6 and v8?
