VE SV6 - intermittent transmission problems?

Auto never been serviced/never had any issues with it, just routine oil changes, spark plugs, that sort of thing Car has done about 260,000 km

Hot car won’t run or start

Last time this happened to me was crank angle sensor. Would run fine in the morning, and fine in the evening, but if I stopped to get fuel on the way to work, game over.

VE SV6 - intermittent transmission problems?

My MY07 VE SV6 has been driving fine for years but in the last few days has been having what feels like transmission issues intermittently I drove it for about 10 minutes the other day, when I felt a loss of power. Throttle produced no movement at all in drive gear. Shifted it to reverse, and I...

    Repeat Crank Angle Sensor faults?

Thanks guys. When I put the replacement sensor in a couple of months ago, I got a genuine sensor and it had some thread sealer on it already, not sure if it was loctite or not. I had another look at it last night (started without any problems and drove for a bit, gotta love intermittent...

    Repeat Crank Angle Sensor faults?

Hey guys, CAS failed on my VT commodore a few months ago, so I replaced it and the stalling/failing to start resolved itself. Fast forward to last week, and I'm stalling/no starting again. Cleared the fault codes and ran them again and it's 46 and 47 again. What could cause the CAS to...

VT - Small or large diff?

My car has been making a horrible whining noise for some time now, and I'm told it's the diff. I am in the process of sourcing and replacement diff and having it fitted (since I don't have a hoist), but I'm being asked whether it's a 'small or big diff' and whether it's IRS... hoping you guys...

VT - Gear Lever knob broken

Hi guys, The knob off the top of my gear shifter seems to have snapped off this week while driving. We tried to take the gear shifter off to replace the broken plastic part, but can't seem to find the end of the part that is broken. Pic 1 shows what has happened, pic 2 is when we have...

    VT won't start (sometimes)

Took it to a mechanic who also thought it may be remote/BCM but said it wasn't worth leaving the car with him as it may take a long time before it happens again. Recommended pressing the unlock button when it happens. Well the car stalled on the highway at 80kph and won't start again. I'm...

    VT won't start (sometimes)

Remote works fine, always able to lock/unlock using the button. Have never tampered with or even opened the remote. I'm sceptical that it's the remote/immobiliser if pounding the fuel tank last night managed to start it though, y'know?

    VT won't start (sometimes)

You might be onto something actually. Broke down last night, and I had a mate hit the fuel tank from below while I was starting it and it managed to turn over okay; leading me to think the pump is working intermittently - potentially (as you say) because of a loose connection. Yep, waited...

    VT won't start (sometimes)

Thanks for the replies guys... this is driving me mad.. it wouldn't start last night, but I drove it over 100km today without any drama.. Yep, drained all fuel when we changed the pump and filter. I have refuelled a few different places recently. We'll have a look at the relay, thanks.

    VT won't start (sometimes)

The last few weeks I've been having some trouble with my VT.. every time I start the car, one of these 4 things happens: 1. Car starts fine, no problems - can drive for hours. 2. Starter cranks, engine fires, stalls after about two seconds - sometimes a sound like a backfire from the engine...

    VT whine

My 98 VT Berlina has a bit if a whine when I'm doing 60-70ish and upwards. The sound comes from the rear - someone told me it's probably the diff and suggested I check the oil Oil levels seem fine - is it worth draining and changing the oil? If its not the oil, will I need to replace the...

    VT Lowered suspension

Need to raise the height of my VT Berlina which is deemed to have 'insufficient ground clearance'. If we put new springs on, would we need to replace the shockers/struts, also? It doesn't seem to be 'super low', just lowered a little.

VP stalls when idling on LPG

Yeah I don't start it on LPG as it just won't happen, but even after I start it on petrol and drive for 5-10 minutes it still is really rough and stalls when I stop, and no matter how long I've had it running it always stalls in Neutral when the revs get low... Not sure what to do :/ Do you...

VP stalls when idling on LPG

I have a 92 VP dual-fuel and although it runs fine on petrol, it tends to stall when idling on gas. It seems to mainly happen when cold, eg the first few sets of traffic lights and roundabouts cause problems but after a while (with some revving at stop) it can idle okay. Also stalls in neutral...

Got a painful RWC list back

Yeah I was definitely contemplating doing the rotor disk machining myself.. it cost about $40 for a pair to be machined last time I had it done... the price he was quoting was to machine it and replace the pads (which I got second hand but still have >85% on them...) Front seal I can probably...

Got a painful RWC list back

Bought a VP for $800 last year and have been slowly working on it with a mate to try and get it roadworthy.. replaced quite a number of things and finally thought we were close to finishing it... took it to a Tester and the list is pretty long. Among the main things, 'front seal leaking'...

    Hood Cable Loose.

Well when you finally do get it open (agree with the grill method above), you'll need a right-angled screwdriver to adjust the part where the cable sits on the radiator support to adjust it. GL.

Does anyone kno if a vz hardtop will fit a vs

I have a funny feeling the VZ utes had a slightly longer tray didn't they? :/

Rear doors on VS do not lock

Had a similar problem on my VP. Try adjusting the position of the CL motors and check the control rods travel the required distance to and from the snibs

    Steering wheel volume control

Take apart the volume module if you can on the steering wheel. Check for a short or loose cable that may be running the electrical signal down the wrong wire.

    VP power steering pump leaking

Alright, have a look at the picture I've attached.. how do I remove the blue circled bit to fix the leak (indicated in red)? Here's the pic: http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/543/pspumpleak.png

    VP power steering pump leaking

My VP power steering pump seems to be leaking.. I can't find any tutes on it here, other than replacing the whole pump.. I just want to repair it. If I buy a rebuild kit (like this), do I need a press? Someone mentioned that it's usually just the o-ring and I won't need a press to replace...

VP Mirror problem - no wiring diagram?

Hi Guys.. My mirrors don't seem to want to move in the downward direction.. both of them move left, right and up but won't move down. I got another switch (second-hand) and it does the same thing - although it could just be a bad coincidence of the second switch having the same problem...

    VP central locking problem

Hi Guys.. VP central locking is playing up (although technically the central is working).. when i turn the key in the drivers door, it triggers the CL and all the other doors unlock.. but it doesn't unlock the drivers door itself. I've taken the inside panel off and I can see it pushes the...

    VN commodore wont turn over?

Clean the battery terminals on the car, and the posts on the battery. If still no go, the battery might be dead mate. If you've tried charging and still no go - well, you know.. they don't last forever :)
