    Are service station pumps accurate??

Thanks for the replies. I should also add that I gave the car a bit of a boot-full going up a steep hill before the servo, and took a few corners and it still didn't cough so there must have been a few litres in there. The V. Low Fuel light was on for 3km, I once got 30km in my old Omega on that...

    Are service station pumps accurate??

I figured there would be a process involved.. so I'm guessing there is obviously room for more than 73L in the VE tank / filler hose.

    Are service station pumps accurate??

Hi all. I just filled up my SSV from nearly empty to full. Now the V. Low Fuel had just come up on the cluster and it was very low. But with a 73L tank capacity and the car didn't run out of fuel or miss a beat, I put in 80.8Litres. Has anyone done this before? Do they have a reserve area?

    My car runs 14.9L/100k, Help?!

I've gone through tanks in city driving where I've averaged 21L/100km. It all comes down to how heavy your boot is. Can't say I've tried granny driving a full tank in town but I wouldn't expect any better than 13L/100. On the highway best I've done is 7.8L/100. 2008 SSV 6.0L 6speed.

    Weird Electrical Problems

No, it's only for 30 seconds or a minute if I recall correctly.. try sitting in the car. Am positive you can only use them for a small amount of time before requiring key in ignition or unlock pressed again.

    SSV Voltage question

Update. I've given it another 600km drive today, and a few highway runs during the week the voltage on the centre display has sat at 14V consistently and hasn't budged all week. We've had a big cool change come through so I'm starting to think the voltage regulator may have just fluctuated under...

    SSV Voltage question

I'm still stumped.. The funny thing is mine is the original battery, and there are still no signs of the battery failing, car starts perfectly even after sitting for days, the only odd thing is the voltage occasionally drops from 14V to 13V and to 12V randomly. Stop the car and start again and...

    SSV Voltage question

Thanks for the replies. Only had the car two weeks, it's an 08 model with 36k on it, only done 6k in the last 18 months so it sat in the garage a lot. It could still be original battery but haven't yet looked. All running fine though, lights etc aren't dipping down etc.

    SSV Voltage question

Hi all. Just noticed that my voltage gauge in the centre of the dash dropped down to 13V occasionally yesterday and today it popped down to 12V on and off when driving around town. Prior to that as far as I've noticed it stayed on 14V consistently. I've done nearly 1,000km this weekend to give...

    Shamous69's 2008 VE SSV

Cheers guys, loving it. I haven't checked that rubber yet but will soon and see if it's been done. I have no doubt the modding bug will bite soon enough. First thing I'll be doing is giving her an oil change, only done 5,000km since last change but that was 18 months ago lol. Any recommendations...

    Shamous69's 2008 VE SSV

Thanks for the replies, still loving that V8 purr, never gets old. Will probably look at badge reversal on the weekend. May even leave the rear end badge-less.

    Shamous69's 2008 VE SSV

I don't mind them actually, I'm 50/50, they look better as black and blend in. I was thinking about changing them back, original rear badge and front grille were included in the sale, but I think would just look like another SS and I don't like holden badges plasti-dipped or painted black, looks...

    Shamous69's 2008 VE SSV

Hi all. Proud to say I've finally got my first V8, a 2008 VE SSV in Phantom Black. Car is in mint condition with VERY low KM (35,000km) drives and looks like new. Mods: OTRCAI, Twin XForce 3" Exhaust and Tein Lowered Springs. No real planned mods just yet, how it sits I'm pretty happy...

Expressions of interest in producing a range of 1:25 scale VE model kits.

Very interested in this, I'd be definitely keen if a VE SSV model was made, and I know of others that would be 100% keen as well!

V8 Q's.. Buying a VE SSV (my first V8) chasing some info and feedback

Thanks for the replies guys! I have been great mates with the guy I'd be buying it off for 20 years and he is definitely 100% genuine, I've never known a more honest person out there, so if there were any other issues he would tell me. He's selling because he and his wife and planning for the...

V8 Q's.. Buying a VE SSV (my first V8) chasing some info and feedback

Hi all, Please don't flame me for posting this thread, I tried some searches but basically didn't find what I wanted. I'm about to buy a 2007 SSV 6speed Manual off a mate, has 111k on the clock, are there any common issues or preventative maintenance that I should look at? Or good habit...

    Ve v6 blowing smoke

Not sure if this helps but from what I have seen this could be normal? My housemate has an SV6 with 45k on it and I have an omega with 96k. If you apply throttle (moderate to heavy, either in neutral or in gear when cold) both emit black smoke. The earlier the throttle is applied after starting...

    VE stereo wont read discs

Unfortunately the VE comes with a pretty crappy head unit, I had my head unit in my Omega replaced under warranty. Yes you can set the headlights to do that. VE OMEGA O6 When accelerating the revs surge up and down

I am not sure what it could be but mine does this too, particularly around 1800-2200rpm and even more noticeable when cruising on highway up hills. My guess was going to be computer related but I haven't been game to go to holden to have it looked at for fear of losing a weeks wages!
  25. Shamous69

Driving economically with a manual VE

Changing that low will often only labour the motor due to the next gear being engaged at such low speeds and possibly use a bit extra fuel if anything, particularly on hills. 4th gear at 60km/h is good though. I doubt there will be any extra wear and tear if you change up from lower gears...

Drivers side indicators staying on intermittently.

Could be trailer wiring, this has happened to me in the past particularly if the car had scraped and wore the wires out

BUMP Price drop to $13,000 Also forgot to mention it has Hayman Reese Towing package with electronic braking and also has transmission oil cooler
  28. Shamous69

    Good Price?

Demo's cop a fair flogging. I'd be finding something with around 40,000km on the clock and say a year old, will lose at least $5,000 off that price and still have a car that drives like it rolled out of the showroom and has plenty of warranty.

    Ve Omega 'Contact dealer'

Probably just a sensor thats packed it in or the cluster itself could be faulty

    VE SV6 Manual Shifting RPM

Lol nah you're right, they're pretty much made flog-proof nowdays. I have an omega too, it rev limits at 4000rpm in neutral or park only, but driving it's limited at 6200rpm. If I keep it in drive and hold it flat, it changes into 2nd at just over 6000rpm. If I hold it in first it stays on the...

    VE SV6 Manual Shifting RPM

FYI if you have a series one motor (195kW) the peak power is at 6500rpm. SIDI 3.6L engine peaks at 6400rpm
  35. Shamous69

    VE SV6 Manual Shifting RPM

2500-3000rpm is about right for around town. But for fun (safely of course) you can rev it out past 5000, the rev limiter is at around 6500rpm and you wont be able to rev past that as the ECU will cut the fuel. I don't recommend going past 6000rpm too often (engine sounds awesome though) but you...

    Coolant leak?

Red coolant has different additives to last longer and extend the life of corrosion prevention. Have you owned the car since new? If not, like ms_enj said it's possible someone has fixed those hoses in the past and replaced with green coolant instead. Holden must have designed the cooling system...
  37. Shamous69

    Coolant leak?

As above.. if coolant is green I would be getting the system flushed and getting the proper red coolant put back in.

wait few months for a ss? or buy a SV6 now?

Wait... as painful as it may be, you will get over the 6 by the time you could have had the SS. I had a loan of a mates SS a while ago for 6 months while he lost his licence and the novelty never wore off.

    Random Engine Temp Spike

+1 for thermostat check. I wouldn't think that the opening in the picture above would be causing it as it would only be pulling air behind the radiator and then through the fan, but it certainly should be fixed. Could it also be an air lock in the cooling system?
