Oh yeah, in that picture Hozy you can see the sticker on the guard. I had forgotten it was some kind of special or dealer special

And so project deep search for the Mysterious Silver VN begins (actually it took a long time to find these pictures) and I can't find any picture of it before it was stripped (yet and might never) but in any case. Behold! Sanded and ready for paints These pictures are from Spring 2010

    VN Luke's VN

Hozy the new car was Silver, go see if you can find a picture of it. It was the old Phoenix red one that got mashed in the March 2010? hail storm and it was that first one that ate the bolt but the old one was running post bolt incident with a stock bottom end. So I guess technically this...

I'm good man, better than ever. I'm not into cars at the moment, so just a casual observer, afaik I still have my VP an VH but haven't seen them in around 1 year :)

    VN Luke's VN

Hozy, I just went back through the thread to find the point where the car became Luke VN MK2 , that part of the story seems to have slipped through a crack in time. Between post 1061 and 1068, a lot of stuff happened then. New car etc, I've been looking for pictures of the new car when it was...

    vn-vt 304 heads

They have less cc's as far as I can remember too so a bit more compression also I'd expect the chamber shape burns a little faster. No one was making new shapes in those times without them being a bit faster burn. I'm sure the exact specs are archived on one of the forums with some searching...

The combustion chambers are a little different on the VT, otherwise they are the same. Some people say the early ones are better quality etc but they are the same

Stock 304, Guide to choosing a camshaft

I decided to have a bit of a hoon on the forum today, didn't expect to see that post!, that was for the VS Ute? you don't mess around getting on the dyno. Put up the chart it might be able to go 170 with some fixing, that would be good for a 276

    vs v8 temp sensor???

Check for a leaky injector/s also, that's a common problem with them struggling to start when left for a while
  14. greenfoam

vn v8 mods please help i want to increase my power any ideas??

Next best thing you can do is make a very good cold intake, a 100mm pipe from the airbox to the front of the car is the best way, after that a good twin system but that's much less gain per dollar than the CAI

    greenfoam or delcowizzid...

I've only uploaded the videos of your car I have from the early days, obviously I haven't been in the mood to film it lately, I have seen it run a 8.9 only once so it's not something I've had many chances to film. I totally accept that your car has a faster pb than mine did but you have to...

    greenfoam or delcowizzid...

Please excuse old mate con, he thinks he's a legend because he ran a faster bolt on time than me (although was still more than 2 tenths slower on the standard stall and still would be 2 tenths slower if I had one :) ). He likes to bag me out at any possible choice, it's some kind of mind game...

VR running rough after putting extractors on?

Cracked plug 95% ^ I agree, pull them all out and carefully look for cracks, you should see at least one is broken. Just buy another set and be go a bit easier when you put them in this time

    Tyre pressure for drags???

I don't believe you should ever run less than 28 psi in a radial, they aren't like slicks with bendable sidewalls where you can run low pressures. I run 38 psi in mine 225, 15"'s at the drags, I've run all kinds of pressures and that works well for me. Anywhere above 28 should be fine, below...

    Ebay memcal...seller blackstar7000...good or bad?

low vs, I will add, if you do choose to advance the dizzy rather than do the tune. If the car is the VS HSV? then don't advance it to 16-18 degrees, the HSV tune already runs more advance, 14 degrees would be about right on the HSV tune. But those things don't run lean cruise by defualt (the...

    Ebay memcal...seller blackstar7000...good or bad?

You went 9.24 actually maybe a 9.4 9.3? beforehand, you defiantly went 9.24 the night I was there swapping tunes, it's written in my thread but if you are prepared to run advance on the dizzy and have no other mods 16-18 degrees is good. I wouldn't do it myself since it's not ideal but it works...

    304 extractors?

The sound is much better with pacemakers which is good for me since I don't run any insulation. But all the quick times with stock motors have been done on the stock VN header so that defiantly says something too. I would never buy them new at the price they are for a stock or near stock car...

    vt v6 ecotec- 5l 308 injected, help!!

It could be more or less the exact same cost to put a ls1 in, might even be cheaper. A good 5 litre from a VT is going to cost you every bit as much as a ls1

    304 extractors?

Look forward to the results!:). I tested the VN headers vs the casties and there wasn't much in it, (maybe) a slight gain on the VN headers but nothing really measurable). I was talking to a guy that owns a dyno once and he reckons you can pick up +5rwkw in some areas of the power curve with...

VN RWC too costly - what to do?

Get a window man to come and take the window out, quick wire wheel job and some filler and you will get at least another 5 years from it, get the window man to come back when you are done and stick it back in. I assume the car is white since it's rusted (easy to touch up the paint once you...

Thinking of selling my N series

If the cars registered and you are using it once in a while keep it, newer cars aren't that much better than a VN really. VN's are worth much more as a car than they are as money

    Performance Inlet Manifolds - HOLDEN V8 304

Some people have made 200 *just* with the banana but not many have and that's about as far as you go. 170-180 is easily done, you can do that even on stock compression and a well selected cam and good exhaust. But the other 20 doesn't come easy
