[Ecotec] Ecotec to l67 top swap help

3.4" (10psi pulley) with a Stage 2 cam and custom tune would work well https://www.maceengineering.com.au/MACE-STAGE-2-PERFORMANCE-CAM-PACKAGE-TO-SUIT-HOLDEN-L67-SUPERCHARGED-38L-V6

Swapped Ute with ITB's for the S/C Calais I have now. Manifold was custom made. If you're going to go through all the effort, I'd recommend a built engine with ported heads to handle 7000rpm and use a large cam ie around .550" lift 240/250 @ .050" 110LSA. Camtech do some good Hydraulic roller...

    turbo kit v6

That Turbo looks a bit close to the inlet manifold IMHO and would heat soak. I'd recommend heat wrap &/or cermanic coating or better, a kit where the turbo is further toward the headlight with a reverse plenium - where the throttle boby is on the drivers side

[Ecotec] maximum lift at valve with stock l67 pistons and hg thickness

Probably not strong enough of a pump to overcome boost pressure and I imagine you'd need to use some sort of check valve to stop water being drawn in when the kit isn't in use

Hi, yes I used an Ecotec manifold and cut the runners out of it, then fabricated runners using u-bends and water cut flanges with Toyota 4AGE throttlebodies. I used a Megasquirt ECU for Alfa-N for TPS vs RPM as you can't use MAP with ITB's. It was alot of work and I wouldn't recommend doing it...

Here are some modification parts for v6 3.8L !!

I agree with you about the moving column of air having momentum - ('Ram air') . It did have a very noticeable increase in torque and response over the previous twin throttle body setup. From memory, runner was 18" from valve stem to trumpet bellmouth, which is quite a bit longer than stock...

SV6 VE S-II Utility Modification Ideas

Shock adsorbers wear out, so even just replace what's there. You could replace springs with a matched set of shock absorbers - usually with more rebound stiffness to control firmer springs. I recommend Bilstein shock absorbers. They're expensive, but worth it and they're rebuildable. Check...

M62 VR v6 in a hilux in NZ

You could use a L67 Harmonic balancer (front pulley) and match balance it to your balancer. A M62 or M90 with a 3.0" pulley with Holden Harmonic balancer (appox 14lbs) will be too much non-intercooled. You could water/meth injection though. Have you considered a correctly sized turbo charger...

"Give it some Jandal" and Jandle is also Kiwi. Glad you like it Delco :beer chug: I think they're good .. they're billet 1.6 ratio, 7/16" bolts & off the shelf, so tuff to handle higher spring pressure.

It's running a Franklin cams billet solid roller (.540" valve lift, 235/[email protected]" 108LSA) with Lunati LS solid roller lifters and the YT platinum rockers that are adjustable for lash clearance. Twin Turbo VS Ecotec Build **engine build in progress page 16**

I agree with chargedvx6. Increase flow of return from surgetank to main tank. Intank Walbro to surgetank, Bosch 044 to fuelrail, fuelrail regulator return to surge tank, surge tank return to main tank.

Twin Turbo VS Ecotec Build **engine build in progress page 16**

I'd be thinking the return line too  The Walbro intank feeding the surgetank as well as the Bosch 044 via return from fuel rail minus what little the injectors use and what the surgetank return flows back to main fuel tank. 25psi back pressure in the surgetank/return line is...

    Shaving heads?

Only if you take huge amounts off!! More than around .040" shave and you'd have to start slotting the bolt holes and match the inlet ports. I heard someone in the states ran .100" shaved heads successfully Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

V6 Billet Alloy pulleys - Group buy

I have a set on my Ecotec from the last group buy and they're choice :spot on:
  36. westerlybreeze

    Shaving heads?

I'm fairly sure .040" shave will be more than just .1 C/R. I agree, flat top pistons would be the best way to increase compression. My Ecotec has ACL Race series flat tops (10:1) and around .040" off the heads with standard gaskets for around 10.5:1, I run a 235 degree cam and BP98
  37. westerlybreeze

Any tips on replacing L67 head gaskets?

I'd have the heads pressure checked for cracks and the valve seats and guides re-done.
  38. westerlybreeze

    Shaving heads?

Vague answer. Valve clearance shouldn't be a problem, even with a big cam because the valve angle is shallow and the valves are tucked up in the combustion chamber. Increasing the compression ratio (C/R) adds torque. But too much of an increase in dynamic compression, you'll have to start...
