    Red or White

Good choice. Went through the same thing myself. love the red hot, seriously love the white with the all black trim and also the black on black but as the car sees a lot of dirty and dusty roads, the black and also the white were not very practical. (particularly the black, I'll never touch...

VF Holden Commodore Issues and Faults

We all know the Mylink and Nav can be a bit flaky at times but today was really strange. First it dropped my phone out and told me it was not available and then a minute later in the HUD where it shows the current speed zone it was showing the speed limit on the motorway through central city...

Single best thing you love about your VF

I stepped up from a VE SSV to a VFII Redline, totally different animals and seriously loving it. Obviously, the handling, the noise and that beautiful free running LS3 always bring out a smile but for daily driving on crowded city motorways or when the NZ cops are doing one of their stupid...

Your favourite colour or dreaming colour

Agree with Daves8, nothing sexier to look at than black on black when its clean and polished but having had several black cars I would never do it again. For me red with the black wheels and trim was the best of the current lineup and I love my red beast but I did wish they still had the old...

    What does OTR sound like?

OTR (VCM) and tune made a very noticible difference on my old VE SSV The low frequency pulses that are captured by the baffles in the stock airbox go straight out the front so definitely a bit of a V8 grumble at the front to go with the exhaust grumble at the back. Its those pulses that the VF...

Chrome internal trim - glare prevention

Just had a quick look at the workshop manual download. It shows the trim and where the clips are making it much easier to know where to put the trim removal tools. = The silver trim each side of the gear stick just pops out starting at the top using a credit card or flat trim removal tools. =...

    VE Boot lid liner

50 Bucks! I wish. The Holden dealer clowns in New Zealand quoted me $200 today. $50 to $70 all up I would pay but at $200 no chance.

VE SS radiator cover panel and stock intake bits free to a good home (in NZ)

To the Kiwi VE SS owners out there. Just had a VCM OTR intake fitted so now have the original radiator cover panel plus all the stock intake and filter bits sitting in a box (not the MAF as that was kept). If anyone wants to come and take the lot away they are free to a good home, otherwise they...

Upgrading VE Stock Speakers - How To

UPDATE: Just added a small section at the bottom of the original write up about a little 5 minute fix to help with the poor sound quality of the stock rear subs. It involves reversing the wires on the subs which shouldn't work but it did for me so its worth a try. For my SSV the difference in...

Reversing camera and VIM fitted - How to

Fitting plugs and bluetooth etc When you first open it all up you have the 16 pin connector behind the glovebox with the plug fitted and just a couple of loop wires installed unless you have other optional accessories as well. As far as I am aware the loop wires in the large connector behind...

G8 JHP Video In Motion kit (VIM)

You do need power for the camera but doesn't use a lot so I just hooked it into the reversing lamps which means it only comes on when the car is in reverse. If you have a tow bar you can just hook it into the reversing and earth wires in the tow bar loom.

G8 JHP Video In Motion kit (VIM)

Yes its not cheap to do with the VIM and auto switch and the camera is the least expensive bit of the whole kit but its well worth while. The auto switch means its just set and forget and no mucking around pressing buttons etc to get it up on screen when you back up. Easy to put in, just takes...

G8 JHP Video In Motion kit (VIM)

I have one and works great for the reversing camera. They are a one shot job though. When I got mine it was either cut a wire to flash the unit and leave it installed or the removable version only worked once and had to be returned to JHP for a credit and I assume to be reset.

Upgrading VE Stock Speakers - How To

Thanks guys, glad the writeup was helpful. Like most I just unplugged the centre speaker. I believe a 4 inch will fit but didn't try it myself. Just make sure that it is the same or higher ohm rating to the new sides otherwise it will overpower them. Trimming the pod if necessary is easy. I...

    nankangs ...

I am not an expert but had Nankangs on the SSV when I got it and hated them. Wet grip cornering not particularly good and under load when taking big sweeping bends at a reasonable speed they were all over the place. Damn things lasted forever though so in the end I sold them to a ricer for...

Upgrading VE Stock Speakers - How To

The stock tweeters are not the best so it could be damaged. Take the corner dash cover off and see if it still does it, should be much easier to pinpoint. If the corner dash cover is not firmly clipped in it can rattle against the pillar or window. The same can happen if the screw holding...

How To Remove The Stereo of VE Commodore SV6 07

Hi Tariq Firstly I would not do it as there are too many things running through it HVAC and security so unless you know what you are doing you could end up paying heaps to Holden to reprogram it all for you. Secondly if you are only wanting to get at the audio and speaker inputs/outputs...

VE Omega 2007: How to unlock rear seats for installation of seat covers

The seat backs have bolts at the bottom that need to be removed and they have hooks on the back that go into holes in the panel behind the seats so you cant just lean them forward a bit. After removing the bottom seat cushion as Rusty described above, undo the bolts at the bottom of the seat...

Yes I did those wallpapers myself. Just part of a little series I am working on at the moment so I thought I would have a go at a Holden. For those photoshop users who want to give it a go First I use a few brush and clone tools in photoshop CS5 to prepare the original photo adjusting where...

Upgrading VE Stock Speakers - How To

Subs I need to do a bit more research on the subs yet but I have heard that most free air compatible subs have a wider basket than the stocks which means bending a little of the metal around the base of the hole back a bit to get a fit. As for the stock sub wiring, I believe each sub is on...

Upgrading VE Stock Speakers - How To

Like most speakers some people love them and some hate them so reviews are all over the place. From what I understand they are very like the ones I installed. I like Kappa's as they are clear and crisp with good mid bass. Some people complain however that even with the tweets on the low...

    VE series II Speaker upgrade

The existing ones are 160mm (6 1/4 inch) but I could not find any that size nor in 6 inch. 6 1/2 inch are more common so I ended up using Infinity Kappa's 6 1/2's which meant I needed to do some minor trimming of the pods. The problem is that some speakers have larger baskets than others so...

Audio - AUX IN audio hiss/buzzing noise issues ? VE 2007

Noise when using charger I had the same issue in my VE SS and it drove me mad so I did a lot of research on causes and solutions. The Cause: Apparently it is a "ground loop" issue. Basically the stereo system and its components are grounded to the vehicle along a set path. However the car...

    VE series II Speaker upgrade

Not sure at all about the VM, perhaps someone else can answer that. I have not done the subs in my VE yet so can't say for certain but having read hundreds of posts on several forums, while some say its worth just replacing the stock subs in the parcel shelf of the VE with better ones, most...

    VE series II Speaker upgrade

Thats my next job but still looking into whats involved and learning about subs. From what I understand so far, there are a few good 8" 2ohm subs around however most require an enclosure. The stock speakers are Free-Air or Infinite Baffle meaning they use the sealed boot space instead of a...

Upgrading VE Stock Speakers - How To

Yes I had heard mutterings about problems with the head unit and/or speakers if the speakers were not correct for the system so that is why I stayed with 2ohm same as the stocks. Having said that however a lot of people seem to have put in 4ohm speakers without any immediate issues as good 2ohm...

Upgrading VE Stock Speakers - How To

The audiophiles can answer the ohm question in huge detail with lots of calculations, talk of series and parallel connection and reasons to go one way or the other. On a basic level though the amp (head unit) is designed to run at its best and stable with speakers of a certain load (ohms) so its...
