My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

I think I might of talked myself back into the VCM480... I've researched sooooo much into camshafts and I think i'm going to stick with a mid 22x cam.. This one is 224 228 110LSA - suited more for cathedral ports as the split isn't that big but still nets close to 300RWKW while running out of...

Looks good mate! Suprised it came with the factory GPS!

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Yeah I cleaned it up after the picture - definitely no rust in mine though like others have had

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Okay so a few pictures below but got the reverse camera fitted and working with no issues at all. As i guessed just wired it up to the reverse light and the back of the headunit, my headunit has an option to go into the camera automatically when you hit reverse. Tub liner was really easy to...

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Yeah I thought that, I might just do that also then just run the cable all the way to the head unit. I'm more worried about how to run the cable into the tailgate and down the side but guess I'll figure it out

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Well that sounds like the go. I like to have a slight bit of heavy-ness to the pedal though, it just feels more reliable haha! Like I said though, hopefully mine holds the power and is all good! In other news, I've never had one in any car and I thought since I've finally got something worth...

[VIC] WTB VZ SS Ute 6ltr

I got lucky with mine, mind you it cost me 14K. If you find one for 12K in a 6L you'll be very lucky.. Good decision though ;). I personally always wanted Devil yellow but i couldn't find one.

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Yeah I suppose that's true, I'd prefer to go for a drive in a car that has vcm7 or vcm713 and take it through traffic for a day just to see if it's alright to handle for the day lol

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Haha well hopefully my clutch holds up, if it doesn't slip at high RPM then it should last a while. The only time it'd get a actual clutch dump would be when i go to the drags so hopefully it can handle the little abuse. Personally i've heard NPC make a clutch which very pedal friendly but...

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Haha I heard that years ago. Alot of people still swear by NPC and Texrilla(sp?) too.

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Yeah that's true car is pretty reliable right now and hopefully stay that way. Car has never hit the limiter either, doesn't need to with a good torque down low. My old supercharged 6 hit it all the time (mind you it hit max rpm in like a second it was ridiculous how fast the rpm went up). I'd...

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Haha I'm pretty certain with the VCM713 now - just going to see if the tuner can comfortability get an 110LSA to behave otherwise i'll stick with the 112LSA. 110 would idle much rougher/tougher, and would be even faster instant torque @ 3500rpm. He's pretty adamant he can tune it well though...

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

See i do agree with you, but I take alot of private roads on the way to work ;) Haha nah but seriously, on the way to work I take the westernport which is 100kms then round about then 100kms round about etc.. So there is a place to use it... But I know you said it's not a weekender but I still...

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Good idea in theory, but the mufflers I have now will be loud with a cam. Idle will almost be 1k rpm which is why it'll be noisy. I could change the mufflers and do what you said but if I was going to do that I might aswell just get varex ones haha. I'll see how it goes. My exhaust system does...
  15. DevilDRake

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Ah yeah Varex is the one, expensive as though. I hope it's nice improvement, should be about 50RWKW+

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Yeah it's a bit hard to compare a 5L to the 6L with camshaft specs, but i guess i'll figure it out. I was going to get those adjustable mufflers you can close and open (i've forgotten the name) but they wanted $800 to get them done, and i don't think i can justify the price just to not wake...

    Gaiter's 06 VZ SS Thunder

I'm going to pretend I didn't see the above and not add anything else to my list. Mind you, taking out the complete tub liner is the main reason I haven't done a reverse camera haha! I feel with how old they are the damage would already be done.

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

What type of camshaft did you get dude? Haha man if you saw how we did it you'd laugh. Had him inside the car pushing two thumbs on it to undo it, while i was underneath trying to pull it also. Doing it up was even more of a prick, I'm taking the gearbox out next time lol! Well i had another...

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Well I haven't had clutch problems since but i feel I should still bleed it.. one day haha! So yesterday I fitted up higher rear springs, short shifter, new gearbox oil, and fix the damn lock on my R/h door. The rod was catching on the door card because I must of put it on somewhere wrong when...

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

So I did my engine service today, filter was a z160 so I'll know that from now on.. Stupid v8s and their bash plates couldn't see what type of filter it was until I took it off. Anyway filied it up with HPR10 and it runs and sounds great so no issues from me. On another note, my clutch has...

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Looks like I'm going to be changing mone over too haha. I'll just jack up and car and double check before i start. Yeah man the car is 5w from factory, as cars get older generally you go a thicker blend. You might find the reason your oil is going black so fast is because it's too thin. I'll...

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

I've looked into many cams man and that seems the best all-rounder for a forced-induction, you could go a little harsher since it's not a daily but i'm sure this will be enough anyway. I've looked into it and been in contact with VCM and it seems i might go VCM884 instead (New grind from a...

Yeah I bought the car with it like that and the fuel Cap. Much better now.

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Well I CBF going out to check but i took out the centre sub box and put one behind the seat - the sub touches my seat when playing fairly loud but i can deal with it, i was sick of elbowing the subwoofer box. On that note, I've ordered a short-shifter which will either come tomorrow or Monday...

Yeah, I don't own any of those lol. Heaps of tools but no power tools xD

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Yeah maybe, I don't really have anything that would be sharp enough to cut it while not cracking it all like side-cutters. Another small update for the stereo, swapped out my bass remote and bought a PAC-LC1 'bass' remote. Basically it fits inline on your RCA cables, and works more as an 'amp...

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

I would but it wouldn't fit around the OTR. It might if i cut it to shape but not sure.

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Yeah i thought about just going SL etc to move it up 1" but i CBF with guessing, i'll just run Low's until i move house. Shouldn't look too terrible i hope haha!
  33. DevilDRake

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Cheers dude :D So i've ordered another subwoofer box - over the one in the middle already. Too 'boomy' and the box quality from the shape isn't that great. Gone for one of the custom ones behind the seat. I've also ordered 'low' rear springs (i have ultra low now) so it stops hitting my...

    My 2002 VY SV8!

Well from that info, you'd be doing 2250rpm @ 110 instead of 2000rpm. Autos are high reving jeez - my manual with 3.9's does like 1600rpm
  35. DevilDRake

    My 2002 VY SV8!

If you let me know what rpm and what diff you got now at 100kpH I can tell you
  36. DevilDRake

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Hmm so it actually is different.. I'm still skeptical though. If I ever get a cam done and I got through them, I'm gunna tell them they're paying for the DOD if it's in there lol
  37. DevilDRake

    My 2002 VY SV8!

Being an auto I personally wouldn't go higher than 3.46 but that's my opinion. If you're looking for one I have mine for sale for $380 since I put 3.9s in my manual
  38. DevilDRake

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

You're correct mate, L98 is a non-DOD motor. Trayners shouldn't have a hose. (well if the guy is right)
  39. DevilDRake

    My 2002 VY SV8!

The power is made is pretty much what they get anyway - i'm sure it feels so much better to drive!

My 2006 VZ SS 6L Manual ute! (never dial-up friendly)

Alright well a few pics, came up really well. Bloody exhaust hits the ground of my driveway so i'm not sure what to do about that.. Trayner - can you look at your car on the next two pictures, one zoomed in, one zoomed out - shows a hose. The guys were adamant that hose is NOT on DOD models -...
