No it shouldn't as long as the loom your going to use came from a VS that had a HI or LUX type BCM originally fitted. I think the LOW type BCM in VS's had different BCM wiring or different plugs or both..

That diagram came from a gregorys VT to VZ V6/V8 workshop manual.. You may be right about the seat memory module needing to know when the doors are open.. I cant think of any other reason for it either..

Yeah it was running around 3 marks above cold on the temp gauge and now it runs around the second mark above cold, so it dropped it by nearly one full mark on the temp gauge.

My VS V6 used to take around 5 minutes to get up to operating temp, after fitting pacemaker extractors it now takes about double the time to get up to temp, and it also runs slightly cooler overall now too...

Looks like you've tried a heap of different things with no luck so far. With problems like yours its best to start off by scanning it with a decent scantool (tech1/tech2 etc and using someone that knows exactly what theyre doing with it), so you can then go right through everything and check...

Id also change that oil filter ASAP. Apparently they can get blocked up pretty quick on these engines if theyre not regularly serviced...

Theres no actual testing instructions for the SDM that I can find.. The workshop manual says "SDM internal failure - Replace SDM with a new SDM of the correct configuration".. There is a fuse that supplies power to the SDM, the manual says its fuse 26 under the dash, check that too.

It sounds like you need to see someone who has a scantool to see whats going on and to run some BCM tests to test the ignition key and the BCM itself... A faulty BCM shouldn't cause the check engine light to come on. The vehicle shouldn't start unless the ECU and BCM have been security linked...
