    Fuel Smell

I have had the exact same results. However i've had a new cap on for a while now, and i occasionally smell the fuel smell again. Everytime I smell it, if I check the cap it is loose. So i'm just more carefull with ensuring it is completely tight. Anyone know of a non-ratcheting fuel cap that...

How to Change the Oil in a VT/VX

I'd change it for sure. It is a heap cheaper than a rebuild if it drops its oil!! Also I've made some 'oil change' ramps. A couple of bits of timber around 250mm wide x 75mm high x 500mm-600mm long. Cut the timber on a shallow angle at one end and attached some rubber to the bottom so they...

    detaching boot from gear knob?

Yep, the VY & VZ auto's do. I would imagine it would be a similarish set up tho.

    detaching boot from gear knob?

Auto or manual? If it is auto, then the boot is attached to the knob and clipped under the surround. So you could need to take the bottom section of dash out (arm rest to bottom storage tray piece inc window switches etc), then unscrew the gear selector surround, which should then allow you to...

    how to remove fog lights?

Yeah no worries. It is rather common for the lenses to break. Given they are relatively close to the road. One of mine was cracked when I first looked at my car, but they had to replace it for the roadworthy. I now have some of that clear 'skins' stuff on mine, protects them well and I...

    removal of clubsport badges

Wet the badges, then maybe a quick warm by the hair dryer (not very warm, just a little), then slide some dental floss (preferred as it is soft)/fishing line/string behind the badge in a sawing type motion across the badge. Should come off with no damage. Then you should simply be able to roll...

    Interior plastic cleaning??

To clean my interior plastics, I simply use a damp chamois. It cleans them up and leaves them looking nice and 'natural' with no greasy coating. For leather conditioner I use the Megiuars Leather Conditioner, it cleans and conditions in one step. Works really well.

    how to remove fog lights?

If you can't squeeze it enough to clear the bumper. Try the other side. They have a long section on one side (outside I think) and short clips on the other side (inside?). Try that, I have taken mine off a few times, but they are be a prick to get out the first time. But once they have been out...

    tail lights

Should be a straight swap. Shouldn't take long at all. Pull the carpet down (may have to remove a clip or two from memory), remove the wires and globes from the lights. Then from memory there are a couple of nuts holding the lights in, remove these, then the light should slide out. Then...

Just got a VY S pac

To do the no spoiler conversion properly: -You will need to purchase the rear brake light assembly, and get the rear window changed to accommodate the light. This part of the process should cost around $280-$330 (brake light & window). -Then the holes in the boot need to be welded up and the...

    Petrol like smell in cabin

I've got the same problem in my VY sedan, did a bit of looking around the net and the only potential cause I could come up with is a problem with breather vents at the top of the tank. I haven't had a chance to drop the tank and have a look see yet. Hopefully someone else has successfully...

    Pop up dash

Only fits the VZ climate control facia which is built for the pop up unit. If you have a look at the two the size of the pop up storage compartment is smaller than the blank plate on top of your dash. Thats not to say it can't be done, but it won't be a straight fit.

    removal of fake woodgrain?

I replaced mine with the one out of the Berlina International wagon, its a greenish carbon fibre look, looks 100 times better. Can't remember what it cost exactly but it wasn't too much directly from Holden. It was great to get rid of the out of place wood grain....

VY - VZ Steering Wheel Removal???

Ok the process is as follows, i'm extra careful but better safe than sorry when working with an airbag: 1. Horns!!!!!!

The horn is located on one of front corners, right side if my memory serves me correctly. Its behind the bumper, you can see it from below. On the Calais they have horns on both sides, not sure if it is the same horn or different. On the opposite corner from underneath you will see a small...

    servicing

Do yourself a favour buy a gregories or similar service manual, some basic tools and get into it. As long as you read the book and understand what your doing, take your time and do it right, you should be fine doing it yourself. The manual explains most things, just dont take everything as...

Plug in boot - anyone know what it is for?

Is the trailer wiring harness actually plugged into a plug? Because a lot of tow bar installers will just wire it up using joiners onto the actual wires and not use the holden supplied plug. This is due to it being cheaper and not having to have plugs for every type of car. The location of...

    My new ride

Didn't see this thread until after I had posted in your other thread. You definately need the reflectors in the rear bumper as thos tail lights don't have them built in. The car looks awesome. The height is perfect. How is the ride? Did you lose much ride quality?

VZ calais tailights into my vy?

Just be sure to fit the new strip that goes across the rear bar. You should have a plain black one in there, need to fit the one with reflectors off a VYII Calais due to the VZ calais light not having relfectors built in. I've done mine and it just required a bit of drilling behind it to get...

    fuel consumption, whats yours?

With my V6 I can normally get it to sit in the 10's (suburban & city driving), under 10 if a do a bit more highway. I've had it down to 7.9 for a tank once, but that was filling up on the highway and cruising thru the country trying to save fuel. Worst was in the 12's when i didn't touch...

how to changing steering wheel cover

And I beleive when you disconnect the battery, you are supposed to leave it for 15 mins or half an hour to disable the airbag properly. Another key point is never reconnect the battery with the airbag not connected, or in properly, as it will log an airbag fault and this can only be fixed by...

    Chrome Tail lights for VY

Yep spot on. I Just want one> If you look at the height of the tail lights in a Berlina/Calais you will notice they are taller than the ones in an exec/S/SS. I didn't realise for a while until I read it on here. But they are actually different heights (look at the flat vertical part just...

    Moving to Australia, but where?

I would guess it would be cheaper for you to store your car and buy one over here and sell it when you leave. The shipping cost would be pretty huge. As for where to live, it depends what kind of weather you are after and what size city you want to be near. I live in Melbourne and find it...
