    2008 sv6 ute, buying advice

You ute looks great by the way, congrats again.

    2008 sv6 ute, buying advice

800kg rings a bell in my head also. Yeah the ute is lowered with H&R springs (not sure "how low" though). I've loaded up the tray a few times and this was the only drama I've had. In my profile I have a pick of the ute loaded up with 700kg of tiles, it looked cool but drove like ****. I also...

    2008 sv6 ute, buying advice

LOL! I stupidly put about a ton of concrete in the tray of my ute with 95 load rated tires and only got about 2km down the road before I blew out the inside side wall on one of the rears around a corner. I was driving quite slowly but as soon as there was some load from the corner, out she blew...

    Cut & Polish before sealing?

I now only use GTechnique products on my cars, a bit more expensive than most of the others but well worth it.

Had m VCM on for about a month and it has been fine (washed the car 3 or 4 times since).

Looks the goods but how do you access the front third of the tray?

    Cam Package for Racing

I have. VCM-7 cam (check with their website for the specs) with 3.7's in the diff, the take off is certainly more brutal with the gears and the cam kick in at around 3200rpm. If you are heading over to ADL let me know

    2008 sv6 ute, buying advice

Thoughts???... Buy a V8!! - just kidding! At $25k from a dealer, I would say that you should be able to do better especially if you consider a private sale car. I would imagine that you could pick up a similar car for closer to $20k and then sell your Ford privately. Also consider looking at...

    Purchasing VE questions

As a sef confessed "noob", I suggest paying for a qualified mechanic to do a pre-purchase inspection to better inform you on your purchase. Especially as a car with 95000k's will enevitably have some maintenence to do that may not be immediately obvious to you. Simmarly, I would leave the...

Dent Removal - Ute (on tub)

Thanks for the advise. I'll be doing this soon also as I have a couple of small dents on my tub.

300kms to 400kms to the tank is that right

+1. Apparently if the O2 sensor is faulty, the ECU will cause upto 40% more fuel to be consumed to avoid damage possibly caused by leaning out.

OZTRACK, Anyone used them for a SSV, or SS?

If anyone is interested I my old duspeed PM me. You will need to get a new filter bracket and have the sensor checked but other than this it is in good condition
  15. M500

OZTRACK, Anyone used them for a SSV, or SS?

I had a duspeed on my ute for a while, the issues I encountered were that the position of the air-flow sensor (I think that is what it is called?) caused it to get water damage and stop working. Also after a long drive, I opened the bonnet and found the filter bracket missing and the filter...

OZTRACK, Anyone used them for a SSV, or SS?

I wouldn't rate the duspeed OTR personally. Give VCM a call and compare their products. Great bunch of guys and very proffessional outfit.

    20' W427 replicas or 22' G8s?

As mentioned above, 20" is about the right size for VE's. Anything bigger compromises handling/ ride and smaller looks... well, smaller! Also, 20" tires are reasonably cheap nowadays.

Interesting, I always wondered how hard it would be to match shadow chrome

    Tub Liners - how much

Mate, it's a ute and you're supposed to use it as such. After using the tub just wash it out and continue to use it. I don't think you are going to detrimentally effect the resale of the car by having a used tub.

Urgent Advice need on the L77

Given the history with the job and the labor costs of changing these part, I would have thought that they would change the engine and the computer to ensure that they have eliminated the problem. It would also be much better from a customer service and PR point of view to make sure you praise...

    Mafless Tune for MY2010 6.0l - Issues

UPDATE.... Took the car to Melbourne on Saturday and met Mario (one of the owners) who kindly waited for me after hours. He was very helpful and has offered to personally look after my car until all the issues are resolved. He has also looked after me with a new VCM OTR for all my troubles. I...

Urgent Advice need on the L77

For what it is worth, I would be insisting on a brand new engine that is not tampered with at all. Even if this means they need to change the computer, etc, etc. This way you are ensured of a brand new engine, factory warranty and the best chance that you will solve your problems. I have never...

VE SS II Walkinshaw Power Pack + Headers + 3.45 Diff. Thoughts?

+1 for VCM, good quality products that they develop and good value.

    VCM 3.7 Diff

I did the 3.7's on my ute and it absolutely torches the tyres! Sure it revs slightly more when cruising at 100 but no real bother. Definately a worthwhile upgrade

    Mafless Tune for MY2010 6.0l - Issues

Thanks for the suggestion re Chev's, I'll give them a go if VCM can't get it right this time. They have locked the ECM tune, but I was surprised when KPM said they coulnt get into it and then proceeded to tell me that the battery would fix it anyway. KPM from what I understand were/ are an...

    Twin turbo sv6

Good luck to the OP. $10k is not a lot of money when we are talking about modifying engines. As someone else has said, be prepared to replace other parts of the engine/ driveline that will break due to the modification - there us nothing more frustrating than spending $10k only to have to leave...

    Mafless Tune for MY2010 6.0l - Issues

Lol, specialists huh? When I took it to them to have a look at earlier on, they could not even begin to tune it. Their best suggestion was to replace a 3-month old battery to fix the issues with the car. Not "the VE specialists" from my experience at all.

    Mafless Tune for MY2010 6.0l - Issues

Agreed that the AFM setup will not like a decent cam at all, this is why they removed the AFM at the same time as the cam installation. My gut feeling is that it is a tuning issue but I am no expert.

Congratulations with your purchase. Before you consider anything else, have the car serviced and change all the fluids so you are working from clean slate.

    Vacuum Canister for Brake Booster

Yeah that's my thread also. Can't seem to find anybody with any experience with this issue.
  39. M500

    Vacuum Canister for Brake Booster

It has been suggested to me to fit a vacuum tank to boost the vacuum to my brake booster. My car has a decent cam which apparantly causes the engine to not produce enough vacuum for the brake booster to work properly. In slow traffic the brakes have little - no feel to them and really struggle...

Advice on supercharged auto ve clubsport

A tuner should be able to work with your transmission and make it shift much better and adjust the shift points. Certainly worth giving your guy a try if you are confident with his abilities or you have already used him on other cars, otherwise ask him for details of another VE owner that he has...
