So for something different I finally started on something I have planned for a while. Even brought the steel about a year ago but with buying a house and home improvements it has been delayed. I have been into sim racing for a while...still using the old G27 but have plans to build a new...

    Corey's Edge Barracuda Buggy

Just checked out the other thread. Impressive build quality especially considering your age. Keep it up and post updates here. Is this for recreational fun or is there a class that runs these things?

    Parked like an idiot....

Except he would probaly get in the drivers side :hmmm: (left side) unless you meant parking a car between the truck and the sign in which case that would be a worse parking job than the original douchebag made.

Dem & Wraith's HMAS VX Berliner

Diff gears for the clubby will cost you about the same as a decent exhaust for the wagon...just a thought!

Dem & Wraith's HMAS VX Berliner

Getting an exhaust will only shout at you that it's a 6 cyclinder, exact reason I haven't touched mine. Spend the money on the clubby and just get the wagon reliable and child friendly I reckon.

    asbestos

I used to be a lagger and part of that was asbestos removal. I'm far from an expert but basically the insulation varieties are the really nasty ones. Old boilers, exhausts etc. Ships are shocking for it, even current Russian fishing boats still have it everywhere. I honestly I don't think you...

    Paint vs powder coating

Tbh my only experience with powdercoating is on Aluminium which involves chromating? Maybe that adds to the cost. Plus there is only a few powdercoaters in Christchurch whereas there is a million panel shops so more competition I guess.

    Paint vs powder coating

Paint will look prettier but powdercoating will take a fair bit of abuse before it's damaged. I don't know why powdercoating is more expensive though because its more efficient as far as powder (paint) use is concerned.

For those interested I have bought the car back off insurance company. Been parting it out and I can honestly say if you come across one of these cheap then buy it and wreck it. They are worth a small fortune in parts...

    Post your net speed!

Torrents vary but usually around the 7mb mark. Just depends on whos seeding. Actual speed is 1/8th the connection speed I think.

    The Damage Thread

Yeah even if we were in the mrs lancer coupe I'm sure it would of hurt a whole lot more. Airbags didn't go off, guess that shows the hit wasn't that hard.

    The Damage Thread

They were, they went through a Red, just missed it completely. Car did it's job, didn't feel that much of a hit to be honest.

I may have found another 540 just quietly....in black. Don't tell my missus or a certain someone on this forum as either could get quite bitchy about it. I have a wedding in Jan to pay for followed by a house so nothing is going on tick haha

I don't really have a problem with Mercs, just can't afford the ones I like so I make myself feel better by putting them in the uncool old man category  But e39 so pretty!

Not sure yet, will wait until insurance is sorted etc but probaly look at vy/vz calais. I wouldn't mind going back to a 6 just to lower the fuel bill a bit. There is a couple of e39 530i floating around at the moment though so that's an option...

So Bimmer is no more. Yesterday morning had a woman run a red and I cleaned her up. No real injuries just a bit sore. And a couple of pics from 2 weeks ago when it was last cleaned.

    Ve seats in vl

No way the back seat will fit nicely. VE is about 200mm wider than the VL. Not sure what interior dimensions are but the VT/VX rear seats are to big so imagine VE is bigger again.

o2 sensors were done just before I got it. The vacuum leak still pokes its head out occasionally so good chance it's related. Cannot for the life of me find it though. Strangely enough my economy gets alot better on hot days... Edit: I think I should be getting 12ish around town and as low as 8...

Did both ball joints in front. Still gotta get wheel alignment done again. Discovered source of oil leak is front main so will get that sorted it the next few weeks. Otherwise business as usual. Averaging about 17l per 100k. Can't tell if it's my driving or something is playing up...

getting back into the "rep" of things.

Personally I'd rather buy the helpful fellas a beer than rep them. I was in negative rep for a bit cos I upset a few of Hozy's buddies and I lold at that because I couldn't care less plus it had zero impact on what other members might think of me. There is no real way to show appreciation on a...

    So... repairable?

I'm with Ari, hammertime. VN looked worse after licking a falcons ass and I "fixed" it with a regular builders hammer. Once the bumpers back on it's all looking good (except it still looked like a vn)

Update: Rust...that is all But in other news I have new welder running sweet and am dying to get back into it. Garage only a few weeks away with cage being done sometime in between which should see it on the track around January.

Update: New tires on the front + wheel alignment. Grip is awesome even for a boat. Also spent some $ on nolathane through the front. Knock is gone and everything feeling tight. Had a wee look into intake leak but can't pick the spot so will be going to mechanic when he is free to spend $ free...

So update. Pricing up tires as I'm sick of the sliding around. Have an intake leak that's popped up over the last month or so and will be tracking that down this weekend then mostly likely ordering parts from USA. Is odd as the previous owner replaced intake gasket and it has been fine up until...

Rough as guts but I had 5mins of boredom to kill. Would be alot easier if I could get a high res image and then cut out the parts to be changed accurately.

Wow that's never had an oil change. Bad luck but as IRON8 says you may be able to go back to them if you only just picked it up. What's all the crusty stuff?
