    Interior fan on full

I know there have been comments that what I speak about is the "blower" fan but some people mix the issue up with the fuel injection fan and also cooling fan. So to be clear it is the fan that runs hot air to my face, my feet and my window. It is stuck on high, the switch doesn't...

    strange but true

So easy in the end I took out the thermostat to start checking things one at a time and it being the easiest was first. The problem went so I contacted GMH who stated that there were issues with the cast design in the series VP tp mid VR where sometimes if the thermostat was cactus the casting...

    strange but true

Its been a problem for a while, in fact since my new radiator. I start the car and within 5kms the temp guage goes off the dial with the overheat alarm going off. At first I would panic and turn off the car expecting a motor collapse, only to find it was not all that hot and when I restarted...

    Very Annoying problem!!

either a dodgy relay plate that carries a number of relays as the radio and wipers and windows are all seperate wiring. Either you or past owners may have tapped in to an origin wiring source, cut the cable to put an extra wire in and then left a loose fitting. Very dangerous and can cause...

    Improving Vision at Night???

I live in the country and the roos are a death trap at the moment. I upped my globes to the max wattage without requiring an autoelec, then a local guys suggested buying driving lights so i have installed 2 small(around 5cm round) one each side of the number plate. They are hard wired into the...

    replacing front seat

Easy as Campessi One of the easiest jobs. If you have a height adjuster jack it up, there are 4 allens bolts, one in each corner. Pull the seat out of the car and turn it upside down and take out the 4 allen bolts, again one in each corner. Go to the wreckers and get a replacement set of...

    think i'm hard done by????

from a lawyer OK first get a real good digital camera and go and take a pic of any oil mark on the driveway of the servo. If you have never lost any points you can then write to the local police commander and claim that the oil was the only reason for the indescretion. Include a photo of the...

    VR Head Gasket Replacement

Mate Kmart are the biggest shonks as far as mechanics. My old mother in law swore by em, told me how nice they are until she took her 1996 Galant in for a pre holiday check and asked em to replace the blinker globe. It comes back with a bill for $20 to change blinker globs, and the blown one was...

    Changing Brakes

Great advice on the calipre expander but a g-clamp if used slow is just as good. Consider taking off the entire calipre and replace the rubbers with a kit. You need only the same spanners as for changing the pads, if I remember correct a 14 and 17 mm, spreader or g clamp, wire bruch to clean the...

Replacing front rotors - How hard DIY?

hey if you are good enough to change the rotors, you are good enough to put a kit through the calipres as well. Its cheap, around $15, needs only some white spirit to wash everything, wire brush for the slides to clean em up, a little grease for the slides and some elbow grease. That way the...

    New and novel problem

:w00t: When I go around some bends I recently noticed a sound like water flowing across and back behind the dash. I've inverstigated and we haven't had much rain so I'll be farkked if I can figure it out. My son spun right out the other night with the noise. :w00t:

Are bullbar mounts the same for all models.

actually bull bars are more dangerous if you hit a roo cause they send the roo upward in a collision and towards your head, which has been known to leave a dying roo kicking the driver and passenger around a bit and can even kill if you cop one of the nails. Thats according to a test by NRMA. I...

    Fan not working

I saw the fan resistors on Ebay the other week for around $40 new Easy job to replace. Repco are cheaper than GMH and the newer reelays are a lot more user friendly, solid state, not wire loops

    Strut bar brace?

if its creaking when the wheels go over small bumps its probably the front sways rubbers. Whack a kit in for about $10 - $20 bucks and a few minutes work.

    brakes dragging vr statesman

Its not hard to rebild calipres. A kit is around $15 and replaces the rubbers, you also grease the slides and I also replace the fluid annually. Its not rocket science but you really need to understand the braking system, have a big container of white spirits, a clean environment and some...
