    Need assistance

Not really. They are around intact on Ebay and Facebook VL pages. Only other option would be to leave them off and weld up the holes in the doors, but that looks pretty ordinary. Drivers doors usually crack but they're the same as the passenger front door and they're usually easier to find intact.

VF Series II wagon tail lights

Probably not what I would have gone with if I was designing them, but they look better than the original clear over red type original lights. To me that always looked so-Toyota. What would have been nice for a Calais would be a chrome surround on the VF2 lights to break the red up. Oh well...

VF Series II wagon tail lights

They're about $280 each from Holden. Bolt straight in. Three plastic nuts each side and you're done.

    vl turbo wagon

A genuine turbo wagon for $1000 is a great price...if it's genuine. Pictures would help, but just check all the usuals. Rust can be expensive and will run a lot deeper than what you can see from the outside of the windscreen or tailgate glass. Rust most anywhere else would be unusual and worth...

    HDT VL Calais Sport V8

Not definitive by any means but the HDT Production book lists 62 Calais Sports built all up. Includes 22 turbo's and 21 V8's. Numbers would be around the mark +/- say 5.

    wagon vs sedan exhaust

Centre pipe and main muffler will but the rear section over the diff and tailpipe/resonator won't.

how do you remove vl Calais arm rest plastic clips

Oh, the white plastic part? Never needed to remove them before.

how do you remove vl Calais arm rest plastic clips

Undo the two screws under the main part of the armrest then slowly wiggle/rotate the whole armrest until it just falls out of the door trim. Then slide the black plastic end pieces off.

    Chrome window surrounds

Did you ever go ahead with this? I bought a VE Calais wagon new back in 2008 and even wrote a letter to Holden at the time complaining that their most expensive short wheelbase car ever did not get the same chrome treatment as the sedan. They stated production issues with the rear compartment...

    Genuine GM keys for VL

Almost next to impossible to come by but, worst case, you should be able to pull out the plastic plugs on a regular Calais front strip, cut it to suit and replace the plugs. Not sure about the length on a sedan rear strip though but might be worth checking too. Original tape decks pop up on...

    RB30E VL Commodore

I got the same warnings from the know-it-all blokes sitting out the front of a tyre place in 1988 not long after I bought my VL. 26 years and 290,000km's later I'm still waiting. :) Granted some 'apparently' had casting problems from new but I don't think it has anything to do with where the...

    Is this a standard colour?

My guess is the plates have been off at some stage and the correct chassis plate put back on, but with the wrong body plates. The rivets also look too rounded and the centre hole too large for Holden rivets. To be sure, cars with your chassis number have body numbers in the 212600 -212800...

VL Executive/SL jack, handle & wheel brace - where are they?

It may be in the handbook, but if you also check the jacking sticker on the inside of the bootlid it will show the correct way to wrap the fabric part of the spare tyre strap around the jack body, with the handle slipped inside the tube and the base mounted on the end between the spare tyre and...

    VL Wagon Rear Axles

V8's have the same 28 spline axles as the turbo's and both sedan and wagon are the same (only the diff housing itself is different). Standard 3.0 litre axles are the same as the 2.0 litre ones you guys got.

Melted fuse rail :( ... Has any1 found another holden rail that will fit ?

VN blocks are the same part number and usually are unmelted, but pays to check them first. I grabbed a few for my cars a while back. As they're under the dash they also don't get exposed to engine bay heat as well.

    Vl wagon rear bumper???

No, all rear bar and bar trim pieces are different.

VL Calais rear Holden badge,is it the Vn type as suggested in brochure or the Vk type

Just another pre-production thing for the brochure they never went ahead with. All VL Calais had the VK style boot badge. VL SL/Exec/Berlina had the VK badge until July 86, then they switched to the larger type (but not the VN one you show above).

Finally got the VL Calais car bra ..super excited , anything i should be carful with?

Sorry, but they're a bit of a waste of time. They're really only any good if put on when your car is spotless, driven that day and then removed. Left outside overnight, or on long distance trips, dust and dew will settle down behind it and the more you drive it after that the more the thing will...

How many original restored or unmolested VL 86-88 Calais are been driven with pride??

It was just a pre-production car with the badge on the other side. Why they changed it for production who knows. The pics of the Hamilton Holden car are mine. I saw it when it was for sale and it was bought by a local kid here. Still looks ok but gets driven daily so I don't give it long...

vl commodore sl...... Tracer by neilson holden

They're rare, but not really valuable. I've seen two previously. Both have been manual, turbo SL (125 pack) wagons in the medium blue/grey colour. Just a dealer special with painted bumpers and aftermarket side skirt and front spoiler to pump through a few more sales, nothing more. Neilson...

how to remove window frame rubbers without damaging them? vkvl

If they're hard, get new ones, as they won't be doing their job anyway and you'll have a hell of a lot of wind noise and find it hard to wind your windows up and down. I used a NOS set recently on one of my cars and they're like butter when they're new. So soft. The RSP ones aren't the same...
