    Odometer swap

Hey guys, I'm swapping my ss instrument cluster for an hsv one. Does anyone know what chip stores the odometer reading and if I'll still get my hsv welcoming. I'll repost any success and failures for future reference, thanks

Cruise control disconnected, why so many cables?

Oh ok. Thanks for that, it has no wiring connected to it anyway so I won't worry too much about it. Out of curiosity though where is the extra cable meant to go for it though? It's just sitting under the engine bay not doing anything, may hook it up properly in the future

Cruise control disconnected, why so many cables?

Hi all, I've recently upgraded to a VY, well a VX which has had a full VY conversion done to it. I noticed the cruise control wasn't working, opened the engine covers to see the cables aren't even connected, then I got confused to find there are 3 cables for it. Does anyone know where they all...

VT rattling sound from engine (Video inside)

I had that in my VT, pretty sure it was something in the trans itself, it happened after someone took my trans cooler out and didn't tell me so all my trans fluid came out lol. Kind of hard to tell exactly from the video but it sounds very similar. I drove with it for 6 months with no problems...

    VT alarm rating, anybody know?

I know mine has the alarm, when my battery used to go flat i'd know all about it every time i connected up the charged battery with my face right next to the horn >:( Maybe I'll just tell them it's a 4 star alarm and go with that
  6. VNCommyBeast

    VT alarm rating, anybody know?

Not safer than any other VT but I'm sure it's safer than an old VN etc. They try putting me down for no alarm since I don't know the star rating :(

    VT alarm rating, anybody know?

Does anyone know the official star rating for the standard alarm on a VT berlina and the VT acclaim? If anybody knows you could decrease my insurance excess, and I'd really appreciate that =D

Anyone that knows anything about diesels, glow plugs in particular

Anyone that knows anything about diesels, glow plugs in particular

Anyone that knows anything about diesels, glow plugs in particular

he said his woman left the glow plug on and the switch burnt out, that's what the wire's for. My woman can't really put a live wire on the car every time she wants to start it (being a woman and all). I am good with electrics, just not diesels. Can anyone go over the details of a switch for me

Anyone that knows anything about diesels, glow plugs in particular

Got my first diesel, mitsubishi pajero. First car that's not a commodore. Can't start it now, he mentioned something about the glow plug. There's a stray wire coming out of this coil looking thing, he said to attach it on to something to start it on a cold day. I forgot what it was and would...

Smaller intake pipes better fuel economy?

Aw 12L/100KM =( haha, just like normal. Oh well
  15. VNCommyBeast

Smaller intake pipes better fuel economy?

Ah, that explains how i've done 200k's when i've actually only gone up the road a couple of times lol, i'm going to use the thing you just sent me to get it all calibrated accurately and see if i'm actually a guzzler or not, from what you just said it might only be a few litres per 100k out, so...

Smaller intake pipes better fuel economy?

Ok the fuel flow calibration was in the 500's, the distance calibration was in the 700's. I put them both to 625 so we'll see what happens

Smaller intake pipes better fuel economy?

Dam, really? I was hoping i had some awesome low consuming holden =(

Smaller intake pipes better fuel economy?

Those figures are according to the guages in the dash, being a berlina. Average is 7.7L/100KM. At times it actually goes down to 3 with my foot slightly on the accelerator going 80. Think it is running lean, but i'm not complaining! I can actually afford to drive it. That's mainly city driving...

Smaller intake pipes better fuel economy?

Haha, yea it doesn't do very much. I actually don't care about the supercharger, what I want to know is what's with my fuel economy!
  20. VNCommyBeast

Smaller intake pipes better fuel economy?

One there of the intake pipe, the other is the end of the supercharger

Smaller intake pipes better fuel economy?

So after spending the last 2 hours here searching without finding anything i decided to start a new thread. I have a supercharged Holden Berlina, which a previous owner installed. It's a V6. It has a tiny little pipe going from the TB to the charger, then nothing in front of the charger. I'm...

Difference between V6 and V8 Holdens (apart from engine)

I'm curious to know what the differences are between the V6's and V8's. Not minding the engines, I've had a V6 and V8 VN, V6 and V8 VS and a V6 and V8 VT. With each of these models I could just feel something different about them, without turning the engines on. The V8's always seemed like they...

How does one test a fuel injector?

Bad VT miss, smoke, Black crap out exhaust

Thanks guys for all your replies. Done 180,000k's and is ready for a service. Fuel economy is way off, 7 litres per hour while idling according to dash. Thanks for ensuring me about the smoke, glad that's not a biggie. Doesn't stop missing after 30 seconds. Does getting new injectors seem like a...

Bad VT miss, smoke, Black crap out exhaust

Also would like to add, oil is coming through the intake, LOTS of oil. So much that it was dripping out of the throttle. Gave it a good clean and pulled out PCV, didn't seem blocked up at all, just cleaned it and put it back in so not sure if that's leaking anymore. Maybe that could give someone...

Lol tried degreaser and scrub, helped a little bit. Reversed the car a bit further back for now

Bad VT miss, smoke, Black crap out exhaust

Lol I'll try. If no one knows what's wrong with the car, does anyone know at least how to remove the black stuff on the wall before mum finds it D=

Bad VT miss, smoke, Black crap out exhaust

As title states, my VT starts with a bad miss, i let it run for half a minute and all that crap ended up on my wall. As per photo. Smoke seems to pour out around exhaust manifold on cylinder 6 =( what's going on here? Not having much luck with my holdens lately, dare i convert to ford

    Rocker cover vacuum leak

I replaced the PCV and one of the hoses already, and sprayed WD40 round the injectors ='( still no go. Valve seems to be the only thing left

    Rocker cover vacuum leak

Chur, i'll give those a try

    Rocker cover vacuum leak

Thanks you two. The injecters did slide in and out very easily i noticed, but no petrol leaking out them. Hope it's not a valve. Are we agreeing that it's definitely not the rocker cover gaskets then?

    Rocker cover vacuum leak

Hey fellas, been hunting my vacuum leak for a few months now. Have checked all hoses and replaced all that looked damaged in the slightest. Replaced intake manifold gasket too. Was wondering if the rocker cover gaskets leak enough would it cause a vacuum leak? They're definitely leaking oil, i'm...

For anyone who turns ignition on, car won't start but radiator fan goes

Ok maybe not. Just a coincidence that it worked when i replaced the fuel pump, did it again months later and was found to be the key

VS V8 bad idle and gutless

Thank you very much for that, it was helpful until i checked my codes again and 36 is gone and won't come back! I'm thinking the new inlet manifold gasket dealt with the vacuum leak and now am still having trouble with the TPS. I'll change that around in the weekend and see how i go
  38. VNCommyBeast

VS V8 bad idle and gutless

Thanks for your reply. It's an auto, don't have harsh gear changes but will try taxing the TPS off my other car and see if that does anything. Codes come up saying vacuum leak though =( but i'm hopeful

VS V8 bad idle and gutless

Hello Got a VS V8 now after ditching my V6 and it has a terrible idle. Codes come up with a vacuum leak. I've replaced inlet manifold gaskets. I hear a horrid noise coming near the front of the engine AFTER replacing the gaskets. High pitched scream. Have tried blocking all the vaccuum lines...
