    Overheating, leaks VX

You need a new heater tap. If you can afford it, I'd flush & change the coolant unless it's brand new and clean. If all the hoses are old, then It'd be worthwhile getting a hose pack (every coolant hose & clamp), and replacing the thermostat & gasket. Couple hundred in parts all up, few hours...

VY rattles (and breaks down) when running on unleaded, but not on LPG

Doesn't sound good. Take the car and the history to a radiator/cooling shop and see what they think. You could have cooked the motor, maybe partially seized the thing, and blown a head gasket/s. Best to get a definite diagnosis before you do anything much else. Won't cost too much for them to...

    ABS Module question

Sorry for the late reply. Yep just a VX one, or it'll be a different number. They aren't that expensive reco, which I'd really recommend instead of a used one, being such a common fault. Injectronics warranty them, and do exchange units through places like Burson Auto Parts.

Injectronics "GMH VX 3.8 V6 ABS/ETC EXCH ABS MODULE" Different part number to the VT one. Supercharged or not doesn't appear to matter.

    Thermostat housing leaking coolant

Buy a knife sharpening stone/oil stone. Rub that on the housing and it'll eventually give a perfectly flat machine like finish. You'll see the low spots soon as you start. Do that on both surfaces, and use a razor blade to clean the recess that the thermostat sits in. Then clean everything with...

VT Berlina Series-II Air-Con & Dashboard Gauges Dead. Dash shows (ABS) & Airbag lights.

Might as well check the alternator charge rate then, quick and easy, multimeter on the battery with engine running and see how many volts you have. I'd have all the DTC's read, recorded and erased too. If it's some dead module then there mightn't be any communication with it which checking with...

    Traction control

I think the traction control and ABS module are one, but there might be two different modules; one with and one without traction control (ETC). Have a look at the Injectronics website; you can enter the vehicle details and check you have the right module for starters, and go from there. For the...

Good VN V6 catback exhaust system?

2.5" or 2.25" off the shelf, single pipe. One muffler, or one muffler and a resi at the back. Really up to you. Redback are pretty good and sold at a lot of places. You don't need a tip, and you could install it yourself if you wanted but it's probably not that dear to have it supplied and fitted.

    help..

Find the wire before the lights that goes to the stop light and check it with a test light there by piercing the wire. I rekon that's what I'd do. If the test light works there like a brake light, then you know the problem is in the lights themselves. If it doesn't work there...hopefully someone...

Radiator transcooler used for power steering?

You could get a manual one and it really should be cheaper because there's less in it, but it's also less common, so that could bring the price up. Probably looking at about $130 from ADRAD for a new auto radiator. I'd prefer a manual one personally as I rekon it would be slightly better for...

vr front sway bar sizes ?

His bush could be too worn out and nowhere near the right size anymore, plus the new bushes are probs in a sealed bag, so hard to match up. Hell even just a decent shifter with increments if you are desperate could get you close, but really, verniers are the go.

vr front sway bar sizes ?

Buy a vernier caliper. You'll use it every now and again if you do much car stuff, and there's not really anything else that you can substitute for them. Besides, Bunnings have digital Kincrome ones for less than $80, so even if you don't know how to read manual ones you're sorted.

    need workshop manuel

Last time I checked there wasn't an aftermarket paper workshop manual to suit this engine, so something like this will be your best & cheapest option. The one similar to this that I got was pretty good. Isuzu Holden Rodeo TF R7 R9 1988 2002 Workshop Repair Service Manual | eBay

    VX coil packs

If you have a multimeter you can test your leads. Probe in either end, measure the resistance of each lead. A Haynes/Gregory's manual should tell you the factory specs for resistance. High resistance will mean weak spark, open circuit means there's no spark even getting to the plug. You don't...

    Vx chewing out fan belts.

If it was me, I'd go buy a new OEX alternator and belt, take the old alternator to an auto elec, tell them what happened, and see if they will give you a few bucks for it. Even as scrap they are worth a bit.

Hey that might be a point. Yours is the middle one.

    Vx chewing out fan belts.

As far as I know, all Ecotec alternators are basically the same. Are all the pulleys in a line, like if you look across the motor, with the belt on, engine off, the belt isn't being pulled back to the block somewhere?

    Oil Filter Adaptor

I'd put something like Permatex Aviation Form a Gasket or Ultra Black either side of the gasket, just a little, and nothing on the bolts. Up to you really, some people swear by some things, others dead against them, some say nothing at all. Just go with what works for you.

    Vx chewing out fan belts.

Also, make sure there's no hose clamps or plastic covers, anything like that, touching the belt. Make sure it's the right belt for the car, and inspect the balancer rubber dampener, as in, is the balancer still in one piece and not wobbling out of shape.

    Vx chewing out fan belts.

Take the belt off, spin each pulley one at a time by hand. They should all spin smoothly and freely with no noise. The alternator and waterpump will have a little drag, but the idlers should freespin easy. None should wobble of be able to be moved up and down. If any are suss or physically...

    DPF light

Yeah short trips causes problems with the DPF. Have you read your owners handbook? Often they have the method of doing a regeneration in there. Might be something like a certain speed, in a certain gear, for a certain length of time.

Engine Light on after doing head gaskets

By far the easiest thing to do first is use a scan tool. Most mechanics have one, usually costs about $50. That said, you can buy a basic one for about $100. If you want to go buy one, look at the Launch CReader, they've worked well for me. If you're paying a mechanic, go somewhere that knows...

Penrite Coolant Concentrate 5 litres of this, 5 litres or close to of water. Whether or not you want to try get de-mineralised water is up to you. I'd suggest going to a specialised radiator place or mechanic who can pressure flush the system. If you're not going to flush it, better to use...

What is this hose, and why is it melting my engine cover?

Yeah, as above it's the EGR pipe. Shouldn't rub or melt the cover though. Try loosening the bolts and adjusting it's position. I guess if it was still damaging your engine cover paint you could heat wrap the pipe maybe. But it shouldn't cause any problems normally.
  34. F l a k

    Oil

If you waaant, make sure you drain the oil really well after though. I'd recommend you change the oil every 5,000ks, and drop it when it's warm, shouldn't really need engine flush, could cause more trouble than it's worth. Just my opinion though.

    Alloytec 190kw oil suggestions

Yeah I'd go Penrite HPR5. If you have a slight residue I wouldn't worry, wash it off. If it leaks, come back with some pics and I'm sure someone can tell you what to do to fix it. Better a slight oil seep then ####ing the motor lol
