Towing with Bone Stock VE 6.0L L76 Engine w/ 6L80 Auto Transmission

Thanks Eric. Both trips so far we have averaged 16.4 l/100k. As you can appreciate each day the wind and conditions can be different. With a tail wind I've seen in the 11's and with head wind in the 20's. My brothers pajero is no better than the commode. We have a Hayman Reece 250kg WDH...

Towing with Bone Stock VE 6.0L L76 Engine w/ 6L80 Auto Transmission

As I said earlier, it tows our Jayco tandem rated at 2070kg easily. No problems stopping, going or controlling in over 40,000 ks twice around Australia and about to leave again early next year. Only problems you can have is if you drive like an idiot and that goes for whatever you drive...

Towing with Bone Stock VE 6.0L L76 Engine w/ 6L80 Auto Transmission

The V6 may not do it easy but I can assure you the SS does it very easy with better fuel economy than a Toyota. We leave our Toyota home due to better comfort in the VE especially leg room for me being 6'5'. Its also very stable with never a hint of instability from passing road trains/cross...

Towing with Bone Stock VE 6.0L L76 Engine w/ 6L80 Auto Transmission

Spot on. We've towed our 2070 kg tandem Jayco van for around 40,000 k's around Australia with our SS sportwagon averaging 16.4 L/100 and its done it beautifully. Setup properly with a Load distribution hitch is as stable as anything out there in any conditions. We're off again next year for...

is the new Holden Cruze Sri going to be reliable?

We've had a 2014 Cruze Sri 1.6t since june and done nearly 4000k's now. Only problem being my android phone having problems with playing music. Iphone works perfectly. Other than that a great little car. Handles very well and loves the twisty bits. Drives quite effortlessly and don't...

VE Oil Transmission Cooler for caravan towing

Just some official info on the VE Cooling system: "The improvements in the VE include: Cooling System • Holden has switched from the traditional Commodore cross-flow radiator to down flow. The top and bottom radiator tanks now match the full width of the radiator and are no longer restricted...

VE Oil Transmission Cooler for caravan towing

I have a 2180 kg Jayco tandem poptop and towed it 22000k's over 5 months with our SS Sportwagon without one and was told beforehand not to bother with a cooler as the VE is quite capable and much improved on older models. Not sure if the V6 would make any difference tranmission wise but we'll...

    tailgate opens by itself??????

There was a problem with water getting in to the touch sensor area usually after washing it and there is a fix that the dealer does. Not sure exactly what they do but mine was rectified by them. However, as a temporary fix I could drop both the number plate lights down (simple clip out) and...

    Grinding/scraping sound when reversing?

Same here. Only noticed it recently and sounds a bit like a stick dragging under the passengers side. Only in reverse, with or without brakes and only when cold. Have it in to the dealer soon so they can have a look then! Auto by the way!

    VE AFM owners Question

We bought the auto SS sportwagon due to needing legroom and to tow our 18' caravan and I couldn't be happier. Had thought of the SV6 but a little research suggested the V8 would be more fuel efficient and obviously do it easier. We've just crossed the Nullabor and down to Esperence at the...

VE Calais Sportwagon ride and towing issues. Rough ride with little capacity to tow!

Yes, its a standard SS with no mods. I think there has to be more at play here with yours and it may pay to look at the trailer suspension. Make sure there's nothing loose there and in particular check both wheels for damage to rims and tyres. You may need to take each wheel off and run...

VE Calais Sportwagon ride and towing issues. Rough ride with little capacity to tow!

I have a SS sportwagon auto and it tows our 2000kg caravan like a charm with hitch set correctly and weight correctly distributed. Would suspect the setup of weight ect of your trailer has more to do with the towing than suspension.

    Towbar options & pricing

I'd call it more of an insurance against people bump parking than crash insurance. I helped install ours and although the mounting points are reasonable compared to previous models, they're no 4X4 structurally. I've had a toyota sedan write itself off on our rear towbar of our Hilux without...

    Leather Steering Wheel

Yep, I'm certain they are all the same. I have one like this (GM Leather RedHot Steering Wheel Holden VE Commodore SS - eBay Shift Knobs, Boots, Interior, Car, Truck Parts, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 24-Sep-10 14:37:38 AEST) and wondered the same and everything is just swapped over. Mike

    VE SS instant fuel usage

    VE SS instant fuel usage

Hi John, The SS certainly does display instant fuel useage in the centre window of the instumentation, just push the trip display and scroll through the various items in there. If you have an AFM model and have activated the cylinder mode settings that will also display at the same time.

    Shifter Rattle

:bang:Bummer !! Must have ran over half of china. I have a VT 1 that had the diff replaced early and then ran to 300,000 ks with just service items till the daughter ran it out of water. Also have a VS just touching 300,000 k's and running sweetly (touch wood) without problem from new...

deposit paid ! hope its a nice journey !

Congrats, you'll love it ! I'm also fond of the interior of the VE and you'll find there's not only plenty of room for the kids but adults also in the rear. Not that it would bother most people but the towing capacity of the manual is 1600 kg and the auto 2100. At least thats better than...

thinking of buying new VE feedback would be appreciated

If you do test drive one make sure you get your wife to check out reversing in it. Not difficult by any means but may have a more restricted view than in your Vz. (I've never driven a Vz wagon so I can't compare). One thing though, I would certainly be looking for reversing sensors on any...

thinking of buying new VE feedback would be appreciated

Not exactly answering your question about handling and performance, however, seeing as the topic is 'VE feedback' I'll detail my reasons for buying the Sportswagon for the benefit of those researching as I did to get as many opinions as possible. Firstly I need a vehicle that is comfortable...

thinking of buying new VE feedback would be appreciated

The a pillars really aren't a problem if you have a neck. Just take some getting used to. I haven't noticed any problem with the pillars nor do I have to move my neck (maybe I'm just blind) but I'm a bees D1ck off 6'6" and have the seat way back. I've adjusted the seat way forward though...

Boot release wont work on ve ss-v sportwagon

I can't be certain but I suspect the chrome strip across the back. From memory I didn't spray under near the touchpad but certainly along and around that chrome strip area. If you pull out the two number plate lights (a two second job) and feel around with your finger, both sides of the...

Boot release wont work on ve ss-v sportwagon

Well I've just experienced this problem 2 weeks ago while visiting the Sunshine Coast from Vic. I opened the vehicle to access access stuff in the front and when locking it the horn sounded indicating an open door. Checking the tailgate found it half open so to speak, meaning it wasn't shut...

Changing VE Auto Gear Stick To A Leather One???? How To?????

Hi wizeabe, The geniune replacement knob I have seems to be tightly moulded to the stalk and appears no way to get behind the button at the front. Did you put the flat head under the top of the button or the bottom to prize it up? Looking up the stalk from below it gives the appearance...

Changing VE Auto Gear Stick To A Leather One???? How To?????

I'm told that it just pulls straight up and you have to be careful not to hit yourself in the head or the roof when it does come off. I don't have the car with me at the moment and wish to do the same thing so I can't test the theory out and will just have to wait !!
