    Shooters, Archers and Bladesmen Unite!

Anyone recommend good off the shelf field knifes? Lost a good custom job this weekend and am a bit hesitant about carrying a hand made job again. Seems I get a bit of brainfade after a long hunt. Mainly for midsized game, roo, goats, pig etc.

    Shooters, Archers and Bladesmen Unite!

Recently purchased a deceased estate hobby farm, property was sold fully furnished with all the farm equipment, there has been some complications as to the firearms that were on the property, so they are currently sitting down at the police station, but I got all the accessories and reloading...

I'd like to think nothing on my land is to self important to die from a cheaper round. Shop owner said he'd been using them recently and was happy. If they spray at all, it's only a couple of days before my usual is back in store, although I should start looking at reloading.

What's the world coming to when your local, in a reasonably major rural city doesn't have federal in stock. might be a blessing in disguise, these are $10 a box cheaper, hopefully they shoot half decent.

In vic most state forests are open to hunting off feral pest animals. Some are designated as game only, so deer, with an additianal licence on top of your firearm licence. In those spots ferals cant be shot. National parks, state parks, plantation land is all no go for firearms.

Had my first deer encounter last night. Hit up a property that has been good for dogs and foxes, but got a little bored with nothing coming to the whistle. Went for a walk through the neighbouring state forest, just because the weather was nice. A couple of hundred meters in I hear this deep...

Spend about 6 hours taking the steel back and gradually sanding with finer and finer wet/dry paper, at around 1800 grit I just gave it a polish and oil and she came up an absolute treat. Set up in the old lansky system I threw a new edge on her and she should be as usable as she is pretty. I...

While clearing out my deceased grandfathers house I found this old Solingen knife, the blade and butt cap where completely covered in rust, the photos are after an initial clean up. Hoping I can restore it a little and get it back to a nice shine with a good edge and give it to my father for...

    4WDing

Enfield is my back yard, some good tracks out there, get out to creswick a lot as well. Trucks off the road at the moment with the CVs ####ed but I'm always up for a run once I'm back on all four wheels.

Nice shots loaded, is that Wombat state? Had a good run last night, completely lost with a couple of mates. Didn't manage to get any shots, but I did manage to do a CV, time for an upgrade me thinks.

Can't really complain then, my thoughts on the savage were simply from holding on for 5 minutes, haven't shot one, I have shot the Marlin, and the one I played around with was grouping beautifully, so the function is obviously not an issue.

I played around with both the walnut and the synthetic, the synthetic would be easier to clean and what not, but the timber just had more character. Guess thats a personal thing. Looked at the lower end marlin and savage, and both of them rattled, the bolt in the savage rubbed on it's way...

    Shooters, Archers and Bladesmen Unite!

Went and put a deposit down on my first .22 today, after playing with a few I couldn't go past a nice little CZ in walnut with a middle of the road Nikko Sterling scope. I really liked the browning T bolt as well, but the couldn't justify the extra dollars, and the rotary magazine, although...

I have been told that a few times, technique first. And I'm happy going down that path, time to save always helps to. Although now the paperwork is through I will no doubt feel like a kid in a candy store everytime I walk into the lgs

Little bit of spotlighting and plinking here and there, nothing excessive. Lot to learn but I'm keen if nothing else.

So I got a fine yesterday...

Ouch half a grand for all that? Seems a bit excessive specially for a younger fella that's probably not earning as much as he will later in life. I'm lucky enough to not have a fine for years now. Last one I almost got the cop made a joke about my name almost being Jim beam, (1 letter off)...

    Shooters, Archers and Bladesmen Unite!

My first post in this thread was the day I begun the process of getting my a/b ticket, today I received the letter to say it was approved, please pay. 105 days in total. That includes waiting a month for births deaths and marriages to send me my birth certificate because an extract wouldn't...

Nah no one I know, I'm an SES member but the paid members tell me that they don't work for the government, although it's government grants that pay their wages. The youngin isn't at school yet, so I can't ask a teacher. Made an appointment at the gp for tomorrow, told them exactly what I wanted...

yeah says manager of the post office can do it, but I don't know the bloke, hopefully the GP will sign it, if not, my only loss is time sitting in the waiting lounge.

Yeah it's ironic, we have stayed in contact with our actual marriage celebrant, but not religious, so no good, I do my own tax, and on the odd occasion I need to see a doc, I just see which ever one is first available. Still going to try my luck with the GP, I always go to the same clinic, just...

Just picked up my A/B application, all easy enough except for the referee part, Not sure I know anyone who meets the criteria, and has known me for 12 months. It was hinted when I picked up the application that the wait on the safety course is getting fairly long. Thinking it could be up to a...

How long before telling family you're partner is pregnant

Congrats. After 24 months and numerous complications getting pregnant we told our family as soon as the doctor confirmed the deed was done. My wife later miscarriages while still in the first trimester. After such a big build up, it was pretty hard telling everyone what happened. After telling...
